Growing up in the UK, Crash was massive. I was surprised to hear all of the negativity on the old site surrounding him before the HD remakes came out. I'm not too surprised to hear this. Crash is great.

Thats cause hes a uk guy. World wide crash isnt a thing.
It didn't sell almost 3m in few months in Just UK. Not even 1/4 of those. Crash is huge in Europe and probably only bad in japan whether you like it or not. It's probably around 4m on PS4 alone.

Not even sure why I bother quoting you, but a small correction doesn't hurt I guess.

Are these all old gamers bying these games or also new gamers?

Most certainly both. many newcomers catching up to Crash greatness.

Kinda sad that Donkey Kong gets trounced by something as wonky and slipshod as Crash Bandicoot, but hopefully DK will have the longer legs.

Crash is 3 games for only 2/3 the price of DKCTF. That's why it's selling so much better (that fact that it's also a more recent port, with the PS4 version only being a year old, as opposed to the 4 year old Wii U version of DKCTF helps too)

What's weird is my local Tesco have a display for Switch Crash (£30) and yet don't stock any other Nintendo stuff at all.

I play retro platformers regularly and, honestly, I think they're just OK. Lots of folks adore the series but I never felt the mechanics were quite good enough. Super Magnetic Neo is better. ;-)
IMO, I've always loved the way the secret routes and gems are set up; a huge part of my love probably stems from watching my parents play it as a child, but when I went to play them myself as an adult, I loved Crash 2 and 3 as they were. This would've been around when the 360 was launched?

But Crash isn't popular. It's just Sony fans buying it out of nostalgia. Crash will never sell on other platforms. Crash was never good.

Can we just be honest?

It's THREE games in one.

Those three games are generally well received on their own right and have a decent legacy.

It looks great on the Switch's screen.

It's 2/3 of the normal price point than Nintendo first party.

Crash just keeps winning and I love very second of it. Talent always wins ;)

Was that on here or on GAF?
I remember it, but I don't remember where I saw it.

Old GAF member. I've seen his avatar here, but I'm not sure if it's actually him.

edit: yeah he made that funny post there.

Also the best Switch game this year. Makes sense.

Microsoft, you're leaving money on the table with Rare Replay.
File size would be an issue, as well as no ready solution for easy 360 emulation. If Rare Replay was brought to Switch it might be advantageous if it's 6 Xbox/360 games were dropped in favor of 6 Nintendo owned titles (DKC1-3, DKR, DK64, SFA).

That's not what Im saying. Im saying there hasn't been a Zelda, a Smash or a Mario plattformer or any giant Nintendo IP so far this year so Crash selling well is not suprising to me.
Crash is big on Europe, period. It would have sold well regardless, because it's a game people want. Crash topped the charts on PS4 and Xbox as well, and it wasn't because there was nothing else to play.

Also I don't buy games just to validate owning a system. I buy games I simply want to play on it.

I don't think it's fair for you to downplay the switches line up, especially in Europe, where you're potentially looking at more than double switch owners than there ever were Wii U owners. Besides the switch has had

Bayonetta
Kirby
Donkey Kong
Sushi striker
Hyrule warriors
Street fighter collection
Blaze blue:CTB
Mario tennis
Hollow knight
The octo expansion
Fortnite
Paladins

That's plenty to play before this released.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

And lol IGN gave Super Magnetic Neo a 6.9.

Crash Bandicoot is better. Crash 3 is at a 91 meta score.
Actually, I just sampled Crash on PC at 60fps and....it's a LOT better. Like, night and day. The Switch version feels like it has a ton of lag in comparison. Need to do some comparisons.

Either way, the PC version feels great to play and elevates the game.

SteamSpy isn't working currently. It says that for most games. The problem, as I see it, is that the game has an all-time peak player number of 3,755, which is really not good for such a mainstream and popular title. It is possible the game will demonstrate decent legs once the Steam sale ends, however.

That's because people are playing all the other stuff that they've been buying during the steam sale. I mean, all you have to do is think about how well some of these games in the steam sale are selling right now because they are massively price discounted... and then look at Crash, which isn't a game on discount is actually #6...

It shows that the game is selling well.

SteamSpy currently works in the sense that they give you a wide range as to the number of owners, but I'd wager almost always that the minimum display is the bare minimum... meaning it's definitely above that.

You could say Crash has sold at least 100,000. I would say.

60fps on platformers is huge. I have been playing the Switch version for a couple days. When I started it felt like shit. Very heavy. I got use to it though. Wish they had aimed for 60fps across all platforms.

When crash is considered as the high point of the Switch so far this year, it 's really fucking sad.

Its the UK lol. Very price sensitive market.

Since they didn't even manage to get 60 FPS on PS4P and XBX, the Switch would never make it without massive downgrades.

Price has a huge amount to do with it in the UK. It's seen as a good value because you have three games in one. Also it's a mascot game and that's always popular.

I'm saying the base game should have targeted 60fps on PS4 from the start. Obviously in its current form you arent gettong 60fps on Switch. But playing Odyssey then playing Crash the difference in controls is big.

As great as DK sounds it's a tough sell paying a full price for a 4 years old game.
If DK was available at full price that would be one thing, they tried to charge even more for the switch version than it's original release on wii u which is a huge shame as tropical freeze should be played by as many people as possible.
Should have included dk returns and sold as a bundle or at the very least sold it for the same price as the wii u version on release.

Pleased to hear crash is doing well, was bound to given the huge fanbase on nintendo systems and 3 games for that price is great, wonky platforming or not.

Is a video planned for Crash on all systems? I know you guys did a PS1 vs PS4 comparison last year. I've been hoping you'd so one final comparison and analysis vid for the multiplat release.
