Just beat the game. 103% and saw all the endings. Fantastic game, amazing job Team Cherry.

Only thing I said nope to was...
Path of Pain after the White Palace, and Nightmare King after about a half hour worth of attempts, did the other thing.

Coincidentally, regarding that other thread... my OLED B7 with the Pro Controller felt noticeably better than playing handheld. The LCD on the Switch seems to have some high persistence.

This fucking game. Endless bosses.

One thing is for sure - it is the closest to the feeling Super Metroid gave me 25 years ago.

I think I'm burning out on
Soul Master
attempts.

Why am I so bad. Why is he so annoying. That
"fakeout" slam
gets me every single time.

If you think he's bad, just wait until Lost Kin.
I beat Lost Kin and Soul Master last night.

Soul Master wasn't that bad. Just gotta remember to double jump when he slams, and the add a dash if he decides to fake you out.

Lost Kin on the other hand...holy shit that dude was a pain. I had the next-to-best Nail and he was just relentless. Finally got some lucky patterns that allowed me to heal in the corner of the room, but sheesh.

Traitor Lord was almost as bad until I realized that I could make him keep dashing into the corner and could just keep pogoing on him. The 2HP damage he did though....whew.

Figuring out when and where to heal is like half the battle for me in each boss fight.

Man, this game is ridiculously good.

Fuck this game is hard. I beat the first boss after 4 tries and then keep getting wrecked by the Rollie enemy in the next area. It's just annoying having trek all the way over there and maintain full life only to fuck up and lose one or two. The game pretty much requires you to not get lazy and stay on your toes at all times.

I'm going to complain about my inability to get good at the final boss. I'm venting. It is a wonderful fight in almost every way except for my inability to complete it.

the real final boss, not the first one. First one I can beat almost without losing health. That second one though. Who gives out the ability to move when you recover health? I think that might do it to help me beat this thing.

Quick Focus lets me heal during his "rays of light" attack.

The swords and homing light bombs suck for sure.

Hm for Radiance upgrade your Abyss Shriek to Howling Wraiths, try to get more notches and use one to buff your magic attacks and one to cut some MP cost(Shaman Stone and Spell Twister I think), at the start of the fight spam HW, after that there is no other way than "git gud" but at least you can skip a good part of the first phase

This game mildly sips at my battery. Felt like I played at least 2 hours earlier today and am at 80 percent battery. 2 hours on Lumines drops me from 100 to around 20 percent.

This was my strategy that worked, lets you heal also!

My charms where setup with extra health and extra magic damage. I didn't use Shape of Un. If you can plow through HK, spam the Shriek attack (You can probably get two in. And focus on dodging and getting a hit in whenever free. When you get to the platform portion stay on the bottom one and just dodge stuff until he flys away and then you can normally get one heal in per time. When he is in between the bottom platform and the two ones to the side once dodging get an attack or two in. It takes a while, but if you can dodge okay you can keep healing and eventually take him down.

Good luck!

I wanna upgrade my goddamn nail. I did it once.

That is always the best part of these games. Feeling strong as fuck. I'm lacking that.

It's impressive how even on a replay you lose complete track of time playing the game. I was going to mess around a bit after the world cup match and it was suddenly 1.30 AM. I've done all of these things weeks ago and I'm having just as much fun doing them all over again.

Also: it's striking how very active the thread is even after the Switch's version's been out for weeks. Looks like there's still plenty of people getting into the game

Lost Kin becomes incredibly easier if you fight him using Defender's Crest.

What the fuck

I beat the Soul Master and put my switch down to dry my hands (first time) and then BOOM it's still going and in my scramble to grab it I died

Unbelievable.

I feel you, bro. Died the same way the first time I got to his second phase. Put the Switch down to calm my nerves.

Hmm, spent maybe an hour and the game still isn't clicking for me. It feels closer to Metroid than Metroidvania, but I'm more of a fan of the latter. Ended up wandering aimlessly until I finally found the cartographer and bought the map (and eventually the compass).

If there's something I think Hollow Knight lacks a bit, is the feeling of being overpowered, specially at the end. Even when you get visibly stronger, the game will make sure to introduce you new places and powerful enemies to counter that feeling.
I have to keep everything on my toes all the time with this game.

Give it until you make it to the second area, this game is far too griping the farther you sink into it

finished today at 83% and around 23 hours.

What a sublime masterpiece. Loved every single second, even when I wanted to smash my controller that one time.

of course I really mean "finished" because I know there's more to see and do, but even if I don't this is probably my GOTY and I'm blown away at the value for money this game offers. What an absolute steal.

It's insane how many enemies there are in this game.

So many bosses. Totally new enemies everywhere you go.

Makes Metroid seem lazy.

Damn. I got my pure Nail and in my haste to start waving it around I accidentally killed the blacksmith before I could talk to him. Hope I don't miss out on too much because of this.

Watcher Knight feels like the first boss I beat with just luck. I didn't really learn its pattern, I didn't cheese him, just one minute I was dashing and mashing for dear life and the next minute there's the hunter symbol and it was over.

This happened to me too, not putting the controller down but getting shocked and awed. I absolutely nailed him on phase one, felt so proud of myself, then was immediately knocked back on my heels and never recovered. It was great.

If there's one place you can absolutely never, ever be with the bosses in this game, it's on your heels.

He accomplished his final goal in life. He asks you to kill him with the nail he forged.

I felt bad af doing this.

The inhabitants of the world always seem to talk of your exceptional skill rather than your strength.
I think its fitting for the Knight's stature.

Don't worry, you're fine. Just make sure you don't do it again on a second playthrough.
