Being interested enough to log into Destiny
lol so true.

Although I did log in last week once to complete SOS. Couldnt pay me to do another faction rally under the current structure. When Bungie stops going out of their way to make their game worse with modes like faction rally, I think they'll find more veterans will be willing to return and play.

The past few nights reminded me how much fun newbie raids can be. Listening to guys truly happy to finish the raids is good stuff.

So much time spend just rushing thtough everything most of the time.

Congrats guys on your EoW and Levi clears!

Challenge mode - Complete a raid the first time with Cornbread as your sherpa.

As far as reload goes, I agree. That's why I've fallen in love with Service Revolver from Zavala. It's got Outlaw. :) Have you tried the Blue Allegro-34 hand cannon?

I haven't tried the Allegro on the PC and probably hadn't touched it on Console since the first month of D2. I have both the Minuet and Annual Skate though. They feel good mechanically but just lack that punch. I feel like it's Explosive Payload that really makes Better Devils as decisive as it feels in PvP.

After grinding out both the Sunshot catalyst and EP Sniper this week I've kind of hit a wall. Still want to get all 3 characters up to 385 but now that I have basically everything that I want including all the EP weapons not sure how much I'll be playing until Forsaken release. Pretty OK with this though after feeling very luke warm after I finished Osiris I think Warmind was a great improvement (minus faction rally changes I just can't get behind that shit) and I've been playing even more than I usually do. Still going to log on tonight to run a few strikes with Ikelos Sniper there's no way I'm not going to get some kind of enjoyment out of this gun after putting all that work in (also love showing it off to people in strikes which I know is weird but it's like it validates the time sink haha) Also still need 3 more EP bosses for the Worldline catalyst to finish so there's always that. Would love the Toast emote but as I've said in earlier posts that raid just isn't fun for me and at this point I've put enough time in to Destiny and to be running SoS solely for the purpose of an emote just doesn't seem worth it to me. Give me a week of no grinding or reason to log on and I might change my mind though LOL in spite of everything this game still clearly has it's hooks in me. September can't come soon enough : )

I have to preface this by saying I'm terrible at PvP in this game and only really play for the milestones, and I've been running around straight up melting shit with Ikelos SMG lol so much fun. It honestly feels pretty broken to me at this point but it's probably cuz I'm just playing with other scrubs

Light mode is the only answer.

Burn the dark mode heretics.

lolwut.

it's one of the 2 best energy SMGs in the game along with Hero's Burden for PvP. Its shield breaking special effect affects teammate bullets as well, so everyone on your team does extra kinetic weapon damage after you break shields with it.

For PvE, SMGs are forever meh anyway.

I mean yeah, but like it's PvP. SMG's not called Antiope, Huckleberry or Motion to Suppress are worthless.

Are there any regular Aus or Asian Era groups or there.

It's kinda rough to find steady English speaking folks to play with from a Japanese time zone.

When you realize at 90% complete that the "kill 30 or so high value targets" ornament objective is actually really easy to cheese by reloading the same landing zone 4 or 5 times whenever a target appears.

you got the 2 best kinetic smg's correctly but lol @ that inclusion.

and none of those are energy SMGs which is what the conversation was about. IKELOS, Hero's Burden, and a couple of others are outstanding PvP energy SMGs. The only reason you don't see them as much as you did last season (they were a lock in most aggro loadouts) is because the Graviton is taking up everyone's energy slot. No more no less.

Redrix Claymore impressions for anyone who cares, 1.5 weeks later and after 641 crucible kills and 1,659 PvE on my 2 Claymores.

In brief: This is the best kinetic weapon in the game for all activities if you're looking for a weapon that can dominate at medium to medium-long range.

Crucible.
In Crucible it simply melts guardians. The aggressive pulse archetype does that by design, but once you get that precision kill? You smile like Thanos knowing that the next 10 seconds in that Crucible match are owned by you. You literally have the deed to the land. The aggressive frame pulse archetype already hits hard (3-bursts usually) by default so you're going to do a lot of damage with or without Desperado...but once you get Desperado online..whew.

PvE.
In PvE, the only concern is the ammo count as constant up-time on Desperado means you might end up having *too* much fun and you can run low on ammo. Generally it's not an issue because it holds like 450 rounds, but you usually spawn with half that, so you can run out if you're not paying attention. Otherwise, I don't think I've ever killed as many things as quickly as I have with Redrix. It's absolutely disgusting.

Essential notes.
  1. Desperado is NOT an "I auto-win every trade now no matter what" kinda thing. It's not that broken. Yes, you will be capable of winning any medium to medium-long range fight if all things are equal...but if you're low on HP (as one often is after winning a gunfight), you may have to sacrifice most of your Desperado up-time to get your shield back. This will be hard to swallow when you first get this weapon because you want to go ham 100% of the time. Doing so will get you killed and can lead to frustration. It has a 0.6 second TTK, but you have to remember that the only thing most good PvP weapons need is 1 shot/burst to hit you with 75% HP and no shield and you're dead, you know? And of course if you're being team shot it doesn't matter how fast the TTK is; you lose. Maybe you take one with you, but you still die. Respect your low HP and team fire. It will take time (because you want to chimp out when you get that sweet, sweet Desperado proc), but you will learn to pace yourself.
  2. You have about 4.5 seconds from the time you get a precision kill to the time you must reload before it's too late to get the Desperado activation. If you get a precision kill and don't see any enemies immediately nearby or on radar blips, wait as long as you can before reloading to maximize your Desperado up-time. Run towards enemies for a couple of seconds, THEN reload. You will be more likely to get at least a few bursts onto an enemy forehead and reset your proc.
  3. You'll have to get out of the habit of insta-reloading after a kill, as it will limit your opportunities to effectively leverage Desperado. Reloading when nobody is around to kill is a bummer. It will happen, but do your best to minimize it with #2 and #3.
  4. DO NOT try to out-trade scouts from long range. That's always a mistake and an easy one to make. The range on the weapon is not suitable for engaging at ranges that MIDA and similar weapons want to fight at. Respect those ranges. You don't need to be told to avoid trying to out-duel someone from close range with it so I won't patronize you.
  5. I recommend at least one Kinetic Counterbalance mod. Hunters can equip 2 and I personally recommend doing so. It gets perfect and minor vertical recoil (maybe 30% of the recoil of a Vigilance Wing give or take) and makes getting those precision kills much more consistent. It becomes extremely easy to chain several precision kills in a row together giving you realistically something like 14-20 seconds of Desperado up-time. I have to go back to 1 or no mods to confirm if it really is a big deal or not, but in my bullet grouping testing...yea it was a big deal for a weapon that you need to get precision kills on for it to shine. This is more important for PvP than for PvE.
  6. I know you want to use it in PvP as soon as you get your hands on it, but trust me on this one: spend time with it in PvE. Get used to the muzzle flash and recoil when Desperado is active. It can take awhile. Time in PvE will take the edge and penchant for over-excitement off that would otherwise lead you to regular over-commitments in your early days of PvP with the weapon. You will be better prepared for Crucible play after a few hundred PvE kills.

Final thoughts.
Your best energy friends are SMGs like IKELOS SMG, Hero's Burden, Stochastic Variable, or whatever energy SMG you like. Handcannons like Sunshot, Jack Queen, Finite Impactor and similar are also great. Sidearms are cool if you prefer, though I feel like there's a gap in coverage range where you're too close to the enemy for Redrix ADS, but too far away when paired with a sidearm. Feel it out and go with what works best for you. Add whatever Power weapon you prefer.

For me the Claymore in my preferred setup (Claymore + IKELOS) is only rivaled by my Graviton + Motion To Suppress/Antiope setup. These days I find myself winning more trades vs GL and VW than losing against them which I find deeply satisfying. And the nice thing about the Claymore + Legendary energy weapon setup is you can run an exotic Power weapon (hello Acrius, Tractor, Colony) and be truly annoying. Or run the Claymore with a Riskrunner or Sunshot for maximum fun.

Is it worth the grind? Yep. Would I do it again? Hell yea. It does every game mode well and you feel like a King when you get rolling. Hurry up and get yours, boys.

Is that the one that requires charged melee kills, or hvts?
Its the hunter vest that requires super multikills. I got up to 46% but cant get any further. I was stuck on the gauntlets that required charged melee but was able to find that there was a bug so i had to use a work around. Although for this chest piece I can't find a solution it seems I may be doing something wrong.

Are you trying to use nightstalker by any chance? Just use arcstrider with raiden flux for that one.

I've heard that using ornamented Armor can cause it to bug out so try taking any ornaments off if you have them.

Thankfully the chance of that happening is statistically low due to how difficult it is ti aquire the gun and how terrible Comp is to the average player

You'll just get beamed with 4 VW or GL instead

Yes I have been using arcstrider. I didnt need my flux before but I will try. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have been equipping the ornaments as I unlock them so I will try that as well.

We started third Raid(lair) yesterday but couldn't finish it. I really liked the gameplay mechanics. Even I like to play Argos, this one feels more like a real raid.

Eh, just part of the Raid Lair formula. The Dreaming City will have more actual fights and maybe a smidge less busy work (though I dont mind the busy work bits)

When you're in the tower with other guardians remembering the funnier times with Cayde, but you never cared about him like that because Shaxx is your boy.

So with us most likely re-acquiring the Ace of Spades in Forsaken I'm guessing and hoping that means the real Firefly perk will be returning for Kinetic weapons along with a lot of other returning and newly introduced weapon perks. A lot of us were looking for variety rather than any kind of grind/chase when it came to random rolls so hopefully Bungie goes all-in on bringing back and adding new perks while at the same time improving the usefulness and uniqueness.

This is the first week I've just been kind of indifferent to the weekly reset as I think I'm ready to just move on to Forsaken and the newness of the (hopeful) real sequel we should have gotten last September. Not really looking forward to the Summer Event as it's probably just going to ask us to repeat content again with a checklist, hoping to be pleasantly surprised but not expecting it at the same time.

Rocking the bolded and want the underlined.
Honestly, you're not upgrading by moving to IKELOS from those guns. The increased damage on broken shields perk is good, but if you like the Burden and Stochastic, keep rocking them. I can't say I feel any more powerful with the IKELOS. In fact, I'd prefer to be using Burden or Resonance. I just think that it might help a teammate get a cleanup kill so I keep using it.

I need to see the numbers on how much the damage increase is.

Yeah, random rolls won't do much if there aren't a seriously increased amount of quality perks. The "real firefly perk", I don't get. Dragonfly feels fine to me.

Get ready for Ace of Spades in the energy slot with dragonfly lol.

Firefly was on kinetic weapons and the explosion was much bigger. Dragonfly sucks in comparison.

It feels pretty good but is limited to energy weapons, I more or less just want the original Firefly perk to return as a possible roll for Kinetic weapons. Also would like to see the Focused Firefly perk (from Genesis Chain~) return for ARs.

Quick question, how long does it take (roughly) to get Redrix's Claymore? I play Crucible pretty regularly and I've literally only seen it once. Also any energy hand cannon recommendations (aside from Sunshot), can't seem to find a decent one for PvP.
