Penned by Green based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff, Lovecraft Country follows Atticus Black (Majors) as he joins up with his friend Letitia (Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father. Thus begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.
Majors' Atticus Black is a Korean war vet who always has a pulp novel in his back pocket, and wears his heart on his sleeve despite the daily injustice of living in Jim Crow America.
Peele and Green executive produce, along with Bad Robot's Abrams and Ben Stephenson, David Knoller and Yann Demange, who directs the first episode.
Majors has been a rising talent since graduating from the Yale School of Drama in 2016. He co-starred opposite Christian Bale in Scott Cooper-helmed Hostiles, which was released last fall, and was hailed as a breakout star of ABC miniseries When We Rise, which he landed while still in school.
