It's that wonderful time of the year again!
It seems 2021 may have fallen victim to the year 2020, leading to the delays of a handful of high budgeted titles, including predictable GOTY contenders such as God of War Ragnarok. This means that this year's race could be a bit more interesting since we have less predictable GOTY contenders that could end up sweeping like last year's The Last of Us Part II. We could be looking at a more spread out year similar to that of 2014 or 2019.
For this year's thread I am posting the gameawards.net's tally (also known as GOTYTracker on Twitter) in the OP.
I know we have been using GOTYBlog for years but the site has become pretty inconsistent for the last couple of years and it has failed to provide an accurate tally for quite some time. In fact the site has not yet declared the 2019 winner, a move that continues to go without any explanation from the site. The site also failed to count or acknoledge more than 150 awards that were counted by GOTYTracker. The site has unique rules but as it was noted on the previous thread, the site fails to consistently follow them or explain why certain site are omitted.
On the other hand GOTYTracker, a site created by Era user Kyle Key, has dutifully kept up with the tally, even going back and adding more uncounted additional awards from previous years that were missing on gotyblog's total count (more on this at a later date).
Feel free to discuss further about this, I honestly have no horse in this year and just want accurate count for the sake of fairness.

Here's some things to keep in mind (and how to avoid a ban based on previous threads):
- We know by now that GOTYBlog doesn't count all the sites which give out GOTY awards and there's not much we can do about it except for posting them here. I believe criticizing the site is fine. Just don't expect much since there's no way to contact the site owner. The blog also uses thread's like these as a point of reference, so please be civil when discussing the site.
- Please be civil about the winners. Games that may not seem "GOTY worthy" to you does not mean that it is not someone else's Game of the Year.
- Any games that make the list that are controversial (see last year's 2077), can be discussed here alongside the controversies in question but we should try and stay on topic.
