Thank god for competition. If there was only one panel supplier, I wouldn't be surprised if these 32 inch 4k screens would sell for up to $2k. I'm thinking they'll be down to around $1k fairly quickly.

Having a very small desk where even a 27" is pushing it, sad trombone that most of these good ones are gonna end up 32"+

I think Asus version is 1500 so they are charging a premium for some reason. I wonder how different the Alienware variant is considering it has a slight curve.
We don't have official prices for anything but this yet unless something leaked? I wouldn't be surprised if Asus and Samsung tried to go higher though.

Asus version is WOLED and I bet they'll have it running at higher than spec brightness again. Plus it's Asus, they always charge a premium even when there's no real reason to.

Really? I am pretty sure Asus said theirs is coming Q1 of this year. But the WOLED monitors of the same resolution won't be available until later this year. Around the summer but I could be wrong. I think the timeline was from the TFT guy.

Asus is using a QD-OLED panel.

Yeah so I was right. But the confusing part is that Asus mentioned a switchable mode to 480hz. But I don't the QD-OLED panel is capable of it.

Hmm looking up some recent news of their new 32inch OLED with 480HZ it seems also to have the same name as the QD-OLED they showed during CES. Maybe they decided to switch from a Samsung to LG panel during the last few months for their production units.

All of these are sounding really good. I'm just not sure how much of a "loss" it will be going back from 34" UW to 32" . I dont know how to compare that.

Thanks, that really doesn't seem as big of a drop as I thought it would be. And then I gain more "surface" by being on a 4k resolution as opposed to my current 1440p too? I think? Or is that not how it works. I think in many ways it would be an improvement over what I am using currently.

Yes since they specifically highlight the dual refresh feature which is a feature of LGD panel only for now.
As for timing - both will come to market at about the same time. Some regions may get QD-OLEDs earlier by a month or two but that's not a difference worth considering IMO.

This seems like a show mishap honestly.
Or maybe the plan was to use QD-OLED but they've decided to switch to LGD panel later.

Edit:
Oh, right, it's two different models.
QD-OLED one is PG32UCDM
WOLED one is PG32UCDP

In terms of raw pixels, here are the two resolutions laid out on top of each other

Realistically though, running 4k on a desktop monitor, you'd probably be bumping up the scaling in Windows to make everything more legible.

at that price it seems like a steal, it's probably gonna be avaiable for 1k pretty soon. Will probably get it and get another lcd for when burn in might be a concern.

Alright, good enough for me. Pretty excited then. Thanks!

It's gonna be one of these 32" 4k 240HZ ones, and I think we've gotten 3 announced thus far?
MSI/LG/Alienware?
Good times..
Still worried about burn-in because of how much desktop activity I still have, but I want to atleast try it once.

Out of all the 4k oled announced so far, is LG the only one with DTS virtual surround sound and KVM? I know virtual surround sound is never as good but it might be my only option if i want a all in one solution. LG also price a bit more aggressively right?

I don't understand huge monitors for desk use. I would love a 24" 1440p OLED but that will never happen and it's sad.

Apparently the prices for the new alienware QD-OLED Monitors

AW3225QF - 4K240 QD-OLED - January 11- $1,199
AW2725DF 1440p 360Hz QD-OLED - January 11 - $899

The AW3423DW launched at $1299 so these prices are pretty competetiv.

Hands on with some actual measurements and data

EDIT: I believe these are Samsung Display prototype panels, not exactly from a manufacturer. The comparisons should be valid for any product utilizing these panels

EDIT2: CES general hands on

Prices are too high for them. I would rather buy a 42" TV but I also think 120hz is enough for me (only playing SP anyway).

Around 500€ for a 27"-32" would be ok. Also fuck that matte coating. Makes those monitors look like my 2007 Samsung LCD.

Hope we'll see in-depth reviews of the QD-OLED 32 inch panels soon. I assume they'll still have the steep brightness drop off going from 2% to 10% fields, making them not very interesting to me in the HDR department.

I can't see anything about G-Sync looking at the Samsung monitors. Is that not a thing anymore or would I need an AMD GPU to get VRR on those monitors?

Have there been any new monitors announced that have the weird Apple resolutions (5120 x 2880)?

I've been looking at the Studio Display but really don't want to get a 60hz monitor in 2024.

Yeah, need that 1440p QD-OLED in my life, especially at under $1000. 360hz whew.

Will probably go for the Alienware for some curve. Love my G7 with it.

Haven't seen anything specifically at that resolution on the roadmaps yet, but according to TFT Central, LG is planning on a panel kinda similar for December 2024: a 5120 x 2160, 45" panel (so, a 4K ultrawide equivalent to a 36" 16:9 monitor). Refresh options for 165hz-240hz.

(In 2023 Samsung has the Viewfinity S9 as a Studio Display competitor btw, but it's also a 60hz display.)

Is there a way to keep track of monitor releases? I'm after a flat 4k/120hz+ either micro led or oled but I can't see any sites which list 2024 releases.
The curve on the Samsung g7 was too much for me so the alienware's aren't an option.

Oh damn all the new Asus ones have BFI.

Asus are adding BFI to their third gen OLED gaming monitors in 2024 via their ELMB function. Details and operation provided
I suppose it's useful if you're limited to 120hz. I would imagine motion at 360 or 480hz should be superior granted you can run at these framerates. 120hz BFI vs 240hz - who wins?

I've tried BFI on my LG CX. And I find it gives me a headache and the flashing is noticeable

I wish I could experience the benefit

How will soap opera effect look on these?
These are native refresh rates, not motion smoothing/interpolation - if that's what you mean?

120Hz BFI gets you the clarity of 240Hz while being less demanding to run.
The drawback is that it will flicker and reduce brightness.

I stuck with it, and while it was very harsh to begin with, I don't have much of a problem with it now on my C1.
Keep in mind that it becomes less noticeable the higher the refresh rate is. 60Hz is much harsher than 120Hz.

a 27 inch 1440p qd-oled sounds fantastic but the 360 HZ and other aspects is unnecessary for me. :-( I have but a humble 3060 Ti

I need a 32" 1440p OLED that's under $1K so I can maybe get three for my sim racing rig. Triple 4K is honestly too much for even a 4090.
