Never gonna happen unless another Kevtris shows up.
Some games have sound that normally clips with a SNES. One I can think of is UN Squadron. The audio distorts/clips on a real SNES, every time. Problem is, this 3 dB cut doesn't fix that. So I don't know what good it does, honestly.
Nah, that's what the cartridge audio level is for.
Yep. Which makes the Framemeister a ton laggier. Try killing the final boss in Jackal for the NES through a Framemeister. It's nigh impossible.
Right, the person I was quoting was talking about audio that comes from the cartridge, and those are the only things that have audio coming from the cartridge.Cartridge audio levels only works for MSU1 and Super Gameboy. The -3db feature seems to work well for me.
With sync_mode set to auto (the default and highly recommended unless your TV isn't compatible) you can get 60.09hz from SNES/NES, and the correct refresh rate for every other console. The framemeister uses it's frame buffer and similar solution to the fully buffered mode on the super nt where every X amount of time a frame is dropped. So the framemeister is outputting a 60hz signal instead of the 60.09.

You are correct and my mistake, I suppose then the issue with the OSSC and the SNES is more about the inconsistent scanline timing.
Well, I did what you said and I have indeed been having much better luck. However, it's not perfect. After making this change, I've managed to hold onto my DQ5 and Emerald Dragon saves through all kinds of changes, however Glory of Heracles 3, DQ3, and DQ6 (JP version, not even with the weird janky patch) will still lose their saves randomly.Okay, so good news, some progress. I used this formatter on Windows 10 https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/ instead of the right click -> format on Windows 10 and I was successfully able to get the F-Zero and Lttp saves to stick even after loading other games. DQ6 with an English translation patch didn't work however, but maybe you can test with your roms.
I'm assuming you used the standard right click in Windows to format your sd card as well?
Right, the person I was quoting was talking about audio that comes from the cartridge, and those are the only things that have audio coming from the cartridge.
As for the -3dB cut, try using it with UN Squadron and turn your speakers back up to compensate. You will still hear the same amount of clipping.
The clipping is the distortion you hear when a lot of stuff is blowing up. I do like how the game sounds louder than most other often delicate sounding SNES games, but I also now see why those other games sound delicate and thin, it's because if you try to do what Capcom did in that game you will get lots of nasty sounding distortion.I've always noticed that game is louder than others. Is that what clipping is?
I have the same issue with DQVI. I wasn't able to get the other DQ games running with patches either.DQ6 with an English translation patch didn't work however, but maybe you can test with your roms.

EDIT: Aaand now after switching to a bunch of other games and back to Emerald Dragon, that save is gone now.
Asking again if anyone knows. With the Super NT being able to play games in real-time by reading the cartridge bus, how does loading ROMs off an SD card work? Is it just loading it into system memory and playing from there?
When you launch a game off of an SD card, you get a loading indicator (%) at the bottom right of the screen. I don't think it's ever taken longer than 3-5 seconds to load even a larger game. I assume that it's being loaded into RAM, but I don't know enough about how it works to say for sure.Asking again if anyone knows. Curious to those who have an SD2SNES...
How's the loading speed between Super Turrican on the console vs SD2SNES (or even via SD loading if you've JB'd it)?
I thought the load time for Super Turrican Dir.Cut was kinda slow so I'm hoping either SD2SNES or SD loading is faster.
True... 6Mb vs 4Mb IIRC.The Super Turrican Dir.Cut is 50% larger than the regular Super Turrican so it wouldn't really be a fair comparison. Would be better to compare the loading time for the sequel.
I have the same issue with DQVI. I wasn't able to get the other DQ games running with patches either.
Don't get married to those wonky gamma and hybrid settings. They aren't great. I'm not using them.
Yes, that's what it's doing. SD2SNES actually loads the games into its RAM faster than the Super NT does. It's all fast though.
The NT has more RAM than is used in regular unjailbroken cartridge mode...
Yeah, the DF Retro video surprised me with the side-by-side comparison that clearly showed a difference in saturation while the commentary largely stated otherwise. I was playing Super Mario World earlier, and the yellow blocks just aren't nearly as yellow as they should be.Glad to see this being looked into. I was hoping I was just being weird, but saturation looked a little off from the getgo to me, and got even worse with gamma correction. Using Cifaldi's recommended settings right now, and though I wish the scanlines were a little deeper, the color is better.
I get off of work in a little while. I'll test it when I get home, assuming that no one else does so in the meantime.

I ordered the SUPER NT back in October, paid in full, and had to swallow the extraordinarily high shipping charges to be able to get this product. Now that the units have shipped, I haven't received an notice on my shipping, my order status hasn't changed on your website, and people in EUROPE and Hong Kong, have already received their units while paying less shipping than I did for a 3.10lbs package to be shipped to the United States east coast, South Carolina. Please refund my shipping charge of $37.56 for order <number>.
Thank you.

Hi <my name>.
Your order is on its way with UPS tracking number: <tracking number>. Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Cheers!

Yes, it's on its way. My issue is with the shipping charges itself. I was charged a large amount for what others were able to get fast delivery while I only received slow ground shipping. I would like to be refunded the extraordinarily high amount of that shipping charge please. I don't want my buyers relationship to end based on an inflated shipping charge. Please accept this request and refund the amount of the shipping charge in this order please.
Thanks,

Our shipping prices are estimated directly from UPSʼs system, and are usually a higher amount for a handful of specific states. This is something entirely out of our control as our contract is for a standardized rate of their shipping for *all* our units. When other customers receive their units is completely dependent on the shipping system in their own countries.

When mine arrives I'll take it to the UPS office and get a shipping price for the transit back to the location it was shipped from. If the shipping charge is the same, I'll accept that. If there is a difference, I will ask for that amount to be refunded. Thanks for the replies. My package is supposed to be here on the 14th. I'll get back with you as soon as I can get this info.
cheers,

Ok, the package arrived, and I went to the UPS store in Aiken, SC.
For my first order, #<number>, the shipping charge was $37.56. My second order, #<number>was charged $43.71 for shipping. The shipping charge for me to send it back, via UPS ground, same exact package, unopened, was $17.43. This was for a pickup shipment from <zip code>. They said it would be a couple dollars cheaper if I brought it to the Aiken office and did the shipping from there.
So, I would greatly appreciate it if you would refund the difference in shipping charges for both of my orders.
Order #<number>would be $20.10 difference. Order #<number>would be $26.28.
cheers,

Hi <my name>,
Apologies for the misunderstanding here- I did not intend to make it seem like we would refund you a difference between what your return shipping would cost and the shipping and handling charge on your order. Unfortunately we cannot refund the shipping & handling costs- this amount was provided on the checkout page when your order was originally placed and is accurate.
Here is some further information to help illuminate:
1. We only offer UPS Ground for domestic shipments in the USA at this time. We ship from the west coast (Nevada) and shipping costs run from around $15-$45, depending on where the customer lives. Shipping to the East coast is the most expensive, because it is the furthest away.
2. International shipments go through DHL, which is a premium and extremely quick international shipment service. The prices for shipping from USA to most of the rest of the world are around $50-$80 USD. The reason we saw international shipments arriving to some customers before domestic is inherent in the service- UPS Ground from west coast to East coast usually takes 4-7 days. DHL Express ships pretty much everywhere in the world in 2-3 days, guaranteed. Just different services. Though customers on the west coast get their shipments in 1-2 days via UPS Ground since they are so close to where we are shipping from.
I know it is frustrating to see someone in Europe get their units first, but this is just the reality of the two services we use. We also pre-packed 100% of all orders and had them shipped out the same day, so they weren't staggered.
I can see you are an Nt mini customer and that the shipping you were charged was the same then, too. Though I can see your second order has a higher shipping amount (UPS increased their rates in Jan 2018) - but I'll refund the difference now ($6.15).
Either way, thanks for your feedback about our shipping costs. Frustration is understandable and we're taking action to reduce these costs in the future. As a small company it is impossible for us to compete with the logistics / pricing of your Amazon's and anything in that category. This is why most small companies have higher shipping costs. Furthermore, it costs us notably more in terms of handling and materials to ship each unit safely to everyone as we put significantly higher standards on our shipping partners (unit by unit evaluation, packing material, packing time etc).
Thanks for your support and interest in what we're doing, too :)

Where'd you buy it from?Returned the item and ordered a brand new controller from Japan for £47. None of that grimy shit any more!
Thanks, I actually went a head and bought/pre-ordered one yesterday. I noticed for Canada it's now only giving DHL as a shipping option (or at least for me it did). As well I asked a friend who got one sent to japan and he said no customs value was listed so he didn't get hit with import fees. =)
Asking for better reporting is "acting salty and bitter" now? He helped Kevtris with this, it's not like he has a problem with the Super NT existing.Instead of acting salty and bitter over the Super NT and FPGA talk
perhaps that will motivate him to work on his own solution that isn't plagued by input lag.

The latest firmware should fix the Star Fox 2 problem you're having.Aww man, my Link's Awakening repro gives me a "No cart in the Super GameBoy Error", my Star Fox 2 repro gives a "This game can only be played with a regular controller" error, and my Tactics Ogre repro doesn't display the opening cutscene properly as half the lines are missing. :(
Maybe I should update the firmware and try again. :/
I've been experimenting with the SD loading a bit (can't get it to save a game yet though).Every game I've loaded with my SD2SNES has loaded instantly, but I also have a really fast SD card in mine.
It black screens after the Virgin logo screen sometimes but if you reload it you should eventually be able to get to the title screen. Might help if you mash buttons during the Virgin logo.

Are you on 4.1? That's supposed to fix that problem and not need to do the solution you described.Starting the game, unplugging the controller, and resetting the console got StarFox 2 running. I'm more concerned with Tactics Ogre though. I'm wondering if this is a problem with the Super NT or the repro, but I don't want to drag my SNES out to find out.
The whole reason the repros were the games I tested first is because my SNES carts are all organized in a drawer I can't open without moving my dresser first. XD

What speed is your SD card for the SD2SNES?

I don't know about the speed on my card, but yeah, everything loads instantly for me as well.
Tactics Ogre looks to be working fine for me off the SD2SNES:
I did notice a line of random pixels at the bottom of the title screen, no clue if that would be there on a real SNES. I need a new power supply for my legit SNES, my old one has gone dead, so I can't compare:
It definitely seems like the NT is not a big fan of repros from everything being posted here and in youtube videos I've seen. Wonder why that is.
