Well, I might be burned out on gaming for good.
I have been an avid player for 20 years now. I'm turning 30 next month.
It feels like I still get hyped but when actually playing I get bored extremely fast and feel like I'm wasting my time.
Outer Worlds was the exception, but nothing else this year was able to hold my attention longer than a couple of hours.
I got Fallen Order and it feels so formulaic after 5 hours. When you have been gaming for a while you see the same systems over and over again, with slight tweaks. I mean the game looks fantastic but I'm already tired of wall running at designated spots etc.
That's just an example, I got nothing against the game.
Shooters are still the same old shooters at the core etc.
I doesn't help I'm a Programmer. I understand how games/applications are made. That really took the magic away for me.
Games are based on logic, the illusion of "dynamic games" kinda falls flat. Some hide it better than others but still.
I think I should learn to only go for those exceptions such as Outer Worlds to have an enjoyable experience.
I finished Alpha Protocol, released in 2010, last week so no, I'm not tired of current-gen. In fact, they could delay next-gen and stop to release new games until 2023 and I would still be fine.
How was it? I always wanted to give it a try because I hear the story and decision making are very good.
It just looks mega janky.
