I'm about three or four hours in and for all it's lavish production values, it feels awful whenever you try to actually interact with the world.
Clunky movement, sluggish combat and far too many options to house on one controller without multiple weapon wheels, etc.
The hand-to-hand combat is simply dreadful and I'm bored of squinting to see tiny little icons on the left of my screen and a litany of context sensitive actions on the right.
But worst of all the mission design is just as dull as dishwater, with filler content at every turn - popping a wheel back on a vehicle, or pulling someone's trapped leg off a train... who cares?
But you can pick up your hat and read a brochure in the shop, provided you can fumble around to get to the counter.
Read Dead Redemption 2 - when ambition trumps fun.
I've never felt such a strong negative reaction to game. The opening 20 minutes of GTAV introduced heists, character switching, combat, driving and set up the story.
I'm a few hours into RDR2 and it's just trotting along, introducing meaningless mechanic after meaningless mechanic - it's all busy work.
I heard the beginning was slow, but bloody hell.
Sorry everyone, just had to vent. I'm glad for those who are enjoying it and despite my harsh words I'm going to push on and hopefully end up having a blast myself.
