ok but what other administration grandstanded those "meetings" and "deals" like this one did and why do you think no other president had accepted invitations to sit down with the leader of north korea? north korea using this as a propaganda piece isn't unique, but a us president using it as one is.

Its almost as if there was a reason people and past presidents didn't deal with NK the way the Trump administration did. Almost as if there was some sort of history or precedent...or some context. Hmm...could just be my imagination though.

North Korea was never going to negotiate this in good faith, and honestly the only country with any chance at forcing a denuclearization agreement from them is China, who frankly don't want to at this point

It IS special to Trump. HE went there. Sat down and talked and came out praising the man. Talking about a deal has been made. When ALL of us knew it was just a photo op to help legitimize NK. Now it's all coming out.

Between Trump proclaiming that NK has already agreed to denuclearize and the current trade war, there isn't any reason for China to restrain them. The next few years are going to be great for North Korean elites.
Really. Not saying NK is ever the good guy, but prior to negotiations Trump was spouting reign of destruction the likes mankind has never seen before and how he didn't need to prepare, he'llknow if it's a good deal with in minutes. Also Pence and co. Talking about a Lybia solution if NK doesn't agree. This was all show not to be taken serious.

Of course this happened. Their are people in gov't who didn't want this to happen and they got their wish. The Koreas are better off doing this on their own along with other regional allies and not letting US pretend to be some honest broker here.
