Whatever, if this can get Rogan's audience to vote for Bernie instead of either voting for Trump or getting high and staring at photos of shaved chimps, I'm all for it.
I haven't gotten farther than this post and, without thinking too hard on this, I think it mirrors my sentiments. If it's a + to getting Sanders in the WH, coo.

There is room for nuance: "hey it's really great Bernie's ideas got in front of so many people but it's unfortunate that it takes going on Joe Rogan's podcast when he's known for introducing people to real shitty people."

(I'm not sure if you posted this to agree with me, but this is more or less where I stand on the issue.)

I don't know much about this Youtuber, but his video is the only one I can find that has the extended speech Bernie gave to a class in 2003. So ignore that guy if you want to... but the Bernie speech...

About how the Republican party gets people to divide, and get people to vote against their interest (health care, education, living wage) and as Bernie has said, their goal is to try to get people to not fall into that...and bring everyone together to first get these basic things in place... then imo, people might see more clearly about not caring/hating about what others choose to do with their lives. There will always be pieces of shit out there, but imo there are more good people out there than bad.... some are just stupid and gullible. Need to wake their asses up.

*shrugs* going through both pages, Warren has much more to say about LGBTQ rights than Bernie does, and I feel like her response, and plan, is more comprehensive, and thought out, while Bernie just seems perfunctory, like something he has to do, rather than something he actually cares about.

Do I wait till he changes his policy before I get angry, then? Please, cisplain to me when I can angry.
Nope you have every right to be angry about whatever you would like, carry on I have no right, nor desire to do so. My point was simply that I find it less gross to appeal to such a demographic without compromising on policy that would help the trans community, as opposed to your traditional centrist that tries to appeal to it by actually compromising on your policies and beliefs to appeal to right wingers. Medicare for all remains one of the most trans friendly policies on the primary and that hasnt changed by having a conversation with Joe Rogan.

Rogan is a bigot, but after all the times I've heard people tell me that socialists should move center on policy because of electability, or reaching across the isle, or winning over moderates who might otherwise vote for Trump, I'm kind of having a hard time being as shocked by this as I would have been a year or two ago.

I'm not sure there's really a huge difference here, both of these situations the candidate is trying to win by dealing with some shitty people. Whether you think Rogan is as shitty as the average Republican is another thing entirely.

Pretty much where I stand on this as well.

I'm not saying that the endorsement isn't good for Bernie. But he turned that into an ad for a bigot and sent it out to 10.4 million people. He didn't have to do that. Rogan already said the quote. It was another choice to put the concerns of marginalized people on the back burner in the name of "the greater good". He shouldn't have tweeted that.

You're still telling me when I get to be angry.

Will never amaze me how some people attack Bernie for being poor on race when their favorite is the Native American Rachel Dolezal.

I'm more disagreeing with the tweet in a way, I didn't know your position until you just posted it :).
maybe I was reading too much into it but this is how I interpreted the tweet, that like, yeah you can totally use Rogan's endorsement to tear down Bernie, because Rogan is, in fact, bad, but you can also use it to get votes.

I couldn't agree more.

Rogan leans left on most social issues, and has a young impressionable audience. It wouldn't make sense not to appeal to them, as much as people want to lambaste Rogan for being a 'both sides' kind of guy and providing a platform for everyone to come speak on.
Where did I say that? Just find it funny how many users here hate Rogan, Seems like alot of people see everything in black and white and never a grey area. I.e. enjoying some of rogans podcasts depending on guest makes you a bigot.
Pretty much my point of view. Guy is not perfect, like none of us are, but at the very least he is open about being completely wrong on stuff. It feels like some people would rather have the republicans win than have their candidates not pass their purity tests.

I think I would say I hold the two opinions: 1) This will help Bernie. 2) Bernie should not have done this, and I oppose him having done it.

IE: I guess it seemed strategic to the campaign team, but this is still very disappointing.

The problem with Trump's support from white supremacists isn't the support itself, it's the reason for their support, namely Trump's racist and nationalist agenda. By comparing that to this situation, you're implying Rogan supports Sanders for a supposedly anti-trans, anti-gay agenda.

He's still shitting himself with his new all meat diet, because he "feels like he has more energy", and you claim he's open about being wrong?!

Rogan is a complete idiot. He's too stupid to realize he's not smart and he invites right-wing grifters who make him think he's basically exploring the depths of some forbidden knowledge. Easily manipulated by anyone he talks to.

What's the better way to appeal to people who are a part of Rogan's audience / are legitimately likely to vote Dem if swayed?

Well it's possible that they've criticized both. I'd hope anyone on here would.

It's not my job to educate you on how Warren is bad on race.

I realize you think Bernie is being unfairly attacked here but it's best to stick to Bernie, because it's not really possible to know how many people that you're assuming are hypocrites don't even like Warren haha.

Perfect... enemy of the good as usual. It's as tiring as it is predictable.

Or perhaps give Confucius a try: "Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without."

From across the pond our Bernie equivalent stayed principled and pure of heart and got absolutely trounced in an election. When it comes to winning stuff being able to sleep at night is not a consideration.
