this an example of a post i would like instead of responding to if i had the chanceIf there was any justice in the world, the man who added likes to forums would be in jail
Yeah, I've done an OT myself, and essay-type stuff in the past. But the same still applies. People can express in posts criticism, encouragement, or praise. That's much more valuable than a wordless like/dislike.Not everyone posts opinions and ideas.
Some people post OT's and important information.

nate silver says willful misinterpretation of data is as bad as fabricating data. i say i've dunked 100% more basketballs than nate silver, regardless of how much lower the rims might be than regulation.

What if there was a "seen" button you could use on a post that only activates on posts that quote you? Perhaps it could have a submenu where you could choose agree/disagree reactions, or could simply opt for "seen," as in acknowledged. Or "seen" could be a notification that only the replying poster can see.The only time I want to like a post is when someone replies to me and I want to acknowledge them replying but there's nothing really worth typing in response.
this is the kind of psychotic thinking that leads to people enabling read receipts, a far more insidious and repulsive feature of modern technology than the comparatively innocuous likeWhat if there was a "seen" button you could use on a post that only activates on posts that quote you? Well, I'm sorry. It could be an optional feature you could disable in privacy settings, of course, if you don't want people to know what you're looking at. Like the "last seen" feature that already exists.this is the kind of psychotic thinking that leads to people enabling read receipts, a far more insidious and repulsive feature of modern technology than the comparatively innocuous like
Or let's not, while we are at it.Let's add animated avatars, signatures, and smileys while we're at it.
