CAPCOM Div 1 tweet hinting at a RE announcement soon? (Update: Characters look great?)

Jill is pretty popular though I wouldn't say that she's top 1 with Leon around.
Yep, she was a main character on Revelations but ther last appearance on the timeline was RE5.
People play older games after newer ones, but since RE4 she starred in 3 of 4 chapters in Umbrella Chronicles, was in RE5, got 2 DLC chapters devoted to her in RE5 and the game rebranded to put her front and centre, was in Mercs Reunion (RE3 outfit too!), Operation Raccoon City, and starred in her own dedicated game too. Oh yeah, the MvC2 re-release had her, and so did MvC3. Oh yeah REmake has since been remastered and re-release too. And those crossover games as poster below reminded me.
Plus she was in 2 or 3 live action RE movies. Not sure if Apocalypse was before or after RE4.
This is much more than Leon has got since RE4. Who is Jill?

You do have a point. ButI have to say she feels like a classic fan favorite (for good reason) and when she turns up in recent projects, she's typically a nod to the older games and the fans of those games. Revelations 1 was sort of marketed as a return to classic RE, and starring Jill was the icing on the cake. I'm just not sure she has the same recognition with a typical modern fan as Leon and Ada and Wesker and Chris and other assorted characters who have featured heavily in mainline games. Particularly RE4. RE2 has a huge advantage because it's closely tied to RE4 and RE6. You've got Leon, you've got Ada, and you've got Sherry. Those characters were thrust to the forefront in the mainline games. RE3 has Jill and Nemesis. Of course Nemesis is an iconic antagonist in the series who appeared in the second live action movie which of course costarred Jill, but what I come back to is that Jill feels... slightly obscure to be basing an entire remake around if Capcom were being wary. RE2's cast = instant recognition. Even if people don't know Claire, they know Leon. RE3 is a bit odder. I know that fan recognition is not the be-all and end-all for greenlighting a remake, but I think it would be a factor. RE3 is a little bit obscure. Popular, yes. But not on the same level RE2 is. Maybe "black sheep" is the wrong word. It's just a little obscure.
Yes to this, but not quite. A Terminator game should be about running from the Terminator. The thrill of a chase sequence. So not quite the pure stealth/hide gameplay of Alien. I think stealth being an element works, but Nemesis style run for your life would suit Terminator better I think.
Valentine is a character that transcends the series. Whether it's snickering about Jill sandwiches, the master of unlocking, or recognizing her iconic Nemesis outfit, people know who she is.
How lit would it be if it was actually a full realized "Resident Evil 1.5" featuring Elza Walker?
People assumed he was the mysterious protagonist of the crappy singleplayer sections in Umbrella Corps. The theory wasn't entirely baseless. This character you play, who never removes his helmet, is so dangerous people start questioning whether he could be HIM.

I was gonna say the same thing because the comment really puzzled me. Rev2 has really good character designs and (official) outfits that avoid some of the tackier female design tropes modern RE has tended to veer into. Even Moira nails that particular "teenage wannabe punk" look without it feeling exploitative.This is not sexualised

Nah, default outfits in RE games are almost always very practical*
* excluding RE3.
Kamiya and Mikami were allegedly contracted as advisors. There were a few instagram photos of Kamiya outside Capcom's HQ.
And there's other with both Kamiya and Mikami inside a car. Kamiya is wearing the same clothes as in one of his pictures outside Capcom, so... maybe that tidbit is true.
Damn, I didn't think about that... At this rate I'll be at retirement age by the time they remake Code Veronica.
No one really knows, I would say that it could be Sony but maybe I'm wrong.

So is Metal Gear, Final Fantasy (and soon Kingdom Hearts) and they ain't strangers to MS shows. It could go either way.

I know a friend who only played RE5 and the only character he remembers/cares about is Jill of all. Yeah, she's got quite a fanbase. I'd say she's more popular than Claire.
Jill's always bugged me as a nitpick until Revelations.

im actually a huge fan of Jill's BSAA outfit. It doesn't have much armor but looks like what an operative would wear.
Using both Jill and Chris's BSAA outfits in the REmake Remaster makes it look even better than compared to scrawny Chris or shoulder pads Jill.
