I did a quick search and you might want to research Reddit for experiences using this 3D printed Burr Holder mod for the Bodum Bistro. I originally bought a Delonghi KG89 which I think is in the same league and unfortunately it cannot do fine enough without its own mod (which I haven't done yet), so it lives as my partner's pour over grinder because she cant quite deal with the hand grinder.

edit.. sorry see someone else basically already posted the same, just ignore me

guess you need to mod your grinder for it to work correctly for espresso. I found this after a quick search https://www.shapeways.com/product/GB9H9Y8GY/burr-holder-for-bodum-bistro-0-8mm-finer-grind
There are proberly other option and alternatively you can invest in an espresso focused grinder.

Thanks all. I've messaged that person on Shapeways to see if they would be willing to sell the design as I have a 3D printer at home. Might end up buying it outright if I don't hear from them.

A Baratza Encore ESP sure is tempting though 😅

Anyone have recommendation for roasters that offer decent prices on mostly single origin light roasts? Trying to avoid the $25 per 10oz prices that you see quite a bit. So far I have been ordering the "special mugs" from https://happymugcoffee.com/collections/roasted-coffee and it's phenomenal to get 2lb of great coffee for $26. Any one got some favorites to share?

I can strongly recommend my local roaster. Many single origin/community lot sourced still in the $14-$18 range for 12 oz. Not sure how much shipping might be though.

Great light roaster. Their Colombian Pink Bourbon and El Salvador Rainbow Bourbon are incredibly light and requires more input if you're hand grinding or could stall on weaker electric grinders since they both want you to push extraction (finer grind and higher ratio).

Thank you, both! Indeed looking for these smaller, roast to order type places as the value is very good compared to the national big brands.

I forgot to report back - I bought a used Sette 270 :)

I've been working to tune it, I think I'm close-ish timing wise, but a scale would help.

I see how this hobby compounds in gear.

Giving this a shot! French Velvet.

Love, love the coffee here in New Orleans, but getting tired of paying 23 dollars for 12 Oz from Congregation Coffee.

Stupid question incoming

I recently got an Aeropress Clear and Baratza Encore ESP and bag of Starbucks Sumatra whole beans. I don't have a weighing scale and I'm relatively new to the world of coffee beyond Keurig

……how many beans do I put in the grinder in order to make just one cup of coffee?

Does the Aeropress include a scoop these days? Use one heaped scoop of beans. If it's too much, use less next time!

I use 16g, which is more beans than I want to count.

I have family coming to stay with us. We're a pour over household but it gets tiring doing that for 4 people, some of whom drink coffee throughout the day. So I recently picked up an OXO 9 cup SCA certified drip brewer for batch brewing and it's surprisingly good. I've wanted a Technivorm Moccamaster for a little while but I got this used for next to nothing and it was on the list so I gave it a shot.

My exposure to drip brewers has largely been the cheap end of the spectrum. They don't brew hot enough and then the coffee gets burned by the hot plate. Even with good beans the best cups I've had are just okay. I can also often tell there's some stale coffee residue imparting flavor just standing near an open machine.

But I've been drinking this exclusively for several days while I figure out the optimum grind for it and it's close enough to my Kalita Wave that I'm very happy with it. My biggest complaint is cleanup and maintenance. With the Kalita I rinse the dripper each morning and toss it in the dishwasher once in awhile. That's it. This has so many more parts and things to rinse and clean that are already starting to hold onto coffee residue even with copious rinsing after use.
