Spent like 90 minutes trying to get my pawn knowledge on Gran Soren to 3 stars but still stuck at 2. Wondering if I have to get into the duke's demesne first.

Edit: Eh, screw it. This is way too frustrating for literally no reward.

Just giving a shout out to whoever gifted my pawn (pandora) a lvl 3 unpurified weapon.

After around 6 hours of daimon farming I'd all but given up hope of getting the framae blades for my assassin but after purifying around 20 items and getting shafted the gifted one was the one that finally dropped them.

I now own every dagger in the game. Time to gold forge em.

Check out the "Pawn Travel Knowledge" section on this page:

Basically:
Portcrystal area or main gate area
Tree in front of grand cathedral
Rooftops just north of the Venery map marker (use ladder near Black Cat)

I forgot how much the pawns love to gas. Had to return one to the rift because he was non-stop chatting, haha.
You can adjust your pawn's rate of speech with the knowledge chair. The question is something like "I like to talk or stay silent as the situation demands. Should I continue?" Yes = talk more, No = talk less. Doesn't help with hired pawns though :(

I got one from Jetoaster. Framae blades too. He or she has the touch. Thank you :)

Just checking in to let everyone know I've been on vacation for about a week now, and will be updating the share pawn list once I return on monday. Glad to see DogmaEra as active as it is :)

Also I wanted to mention I went and submitted us to be featured in the community spotlight, so once our turn is up be sure to help out any newcomers with the wonderfulness that is Dragons Dogma.

I did all that. No luck.

Hahah don't worry about it, it's really really pointless. Much better to focus on the bestiary if you are focusing on 3 starring everything, since for this it will affect pawn's behavior in combat directly.

I thought you can shut up the pawn entirely using the option menu? Never tried it though, I find their chatter strangely relaxing and endearing.

Is yours on the pawn list? I think you're a bit farther in the actual game than I, but if our levels are close I'd bring yours.
No clue where this list resides, I know I posted my pawn somewhere here. My pawn is around level 150.

Platform : PS4
PSNID : XxAmazigh007xX
Pawn Name: Bae
Moniker : Cammy
Pawn Level : 150/ish
Vocation : Strider
Inclination : Scather + Utilitarian

Yeah, I tend to pursue 100% for games I really like.

And pawn update: Mage, level 200. Celestia, with Grand Anodyne, Grand Frigor, Holy Pact, High Halidom, High Brontide, and High Comestion. Utilitarian/Mitigator.

Anyone perhaps hurting for RC or maybe want to have items, feel free to add me through PSN LaughingBanana, I'll help however I can. Cheers.

I'll never be able to compete the game in that time. I hired Celestia a while back, but she was always levels ahead of me. I have plans to recruit her back into the team once I get to BBI or when I'm farming tougher foes. She's a powerhouse. I'm sure she'll make it into one of vids, I think.

Melek who be becoming a Ranger at level 58, if you're happy to take her on an adventure, I'd appreciate it. Items are always welcome! Thank you.

I used Melek a bunch when she was a warrior, one of my favorite pawns. I eventually way out leveled her though and wound up having to juggle pawns around. Looking forward to bringing her with me again.

Thanks. She's still a Warrior for a few levels yet. I haven't had a chance to play as much as I would like. But I appreciate it, means a lot to hear that. I was farming
Soulflayer Canyon
and managed to get some of the Gryphic set from there as a final hurrah to that vocation.

Atleast you have people taking your pawn out. No one wants my pawn :'(

I'll help you out there.

Am I right in thinking to destroy the Drake' s wings, you can't actually climb on them. Hitting them with a bow is the best way?

Thank you!

I think you can destroy it's wings so that he stays on the ground and then you can finish him off by damaging/destroying it's heart on it's chest. Mostly vulnarable to Ice.

I've had this in my backlog forever, but ended up double-dipping on the PS4 version and actually playing a bit this weekend.

I'm currently just under Level 30 as a mage and just recently maxed out the vocation ranks for that. My end goal is to make the jump to sorcerer, but now I'm wondering if there's any point in even remaining a mage since my gameplan is to have a mage pawn as support with healing spells, and it looks like Sorcerers have access to just about everything else a mage does? Do I need to learn the spells as a mage to have them available as a sorcerer? I don't want to drop 2K discipline to jump back and forth between vocations to find out.

Just switch to Sorcerer asap. You only need pay to unlock a vocation once, switching is free.

Buy the magic boost augment while a mage though.

My pawn doesn't seem to be available for people to use online. A friend tried to use him but couldn't find him listed anywhere, even when filtering by pawns belonging to friends. He's also never been rented out by anyone, his Review tab shows blanks for each area and I've never had a notification to say he's gone anywhere. He's set to be freely available under options so I don't know why he wouldn't show up?

If your friend searches for pawn via PSN name they should be able to find it.

I had a friend who had the same problem on both PS3 and PS4, although he didn't really care so he never bothered looking into it too hard.

Huh, can't believe I didn't realize Troy Baker and Laura Bailey do pawn voices. Probably because I use female pawn voice 1 and apparently that's Mary Elizabeth McGlynn? She kills it too, really believable British accent (as far as I can tell). I loooove some of those lines, like when she lectures me with "wait for an opening ....."

Also wish I knew you could buy stuff directly into storage like 300 hours and 2 releases ago. The hotkey system too. Both have been really helpful this playthrough.

People were saying magic archer fun was right all along... It's really so fun!

Also night time in this game, just perfect.

Edit: Also why OT is not only Dragon Dogma? I'm playing on PC, should i go different thread?

Previously on the other forum, there were two threads. One for the PC release, and then one for the current gen release.

Coming over to Era, the PC release thread was not bought over, and since I didn't know if the poster who made it was planning on doing it or not, I chose to just bring my thread over as it was.

If PC players are interested, I could try messaging a mod to have this turned into a Dragons Dogma community thread rather than specifically the PS4/XB1 editions.

In the meantime however, feel free to ask any questions here or share your pawn for others to use.

So I finally got around to fighting the dragon last night. I had forgotten how much I enjoy that fight and also forgot about nearly everything leading up to it. Now I get to mess around in the Ever all and return to BBI. I spent so much time finding gear and goofing off there I basically broke the encounter with Grigori, but oh well.

Also quite pleased with my pawn now, she has solid gear and damage and I found a headpiece that let's her hair show. Seeing as how she's kind of a tribute to Aloy, this was sort of important. In any case, I need to update her again for folks interested in hiring her since I played a ton this weekend.

Venting about Reynard's quest:
WEW, AM I MAD ABOUT THAT "REWARD". I wanted to romance him and have him settle down in Cassardis so he's easier to find. Nope! Apparently completing his quest just deletes him from the game, who thought that was a good idea!? If I have a repeat of PS3 DD and end up with Symone in the end cutscene again I am gonna be super unhappy.

That happens to a lot of the NPCs (they leave forever at the end of their quest lines).

You need to make sure it's the last thing you do before the choice gets locked in to reduce the risk of getting max affinity with somebody else (or talking to somebody else later that you already have max affinity with).

When I saw the pink sparkly cloud around her head this playthrough I was wondering if she could be your beloved. That's just disturbing.
Anyone you can talk to can be your beloved.

There is an item you can give to a character to greatly lower their affinity towards you. Give her that?

Oh, tab over to the far right "Item Storage" tab and start adding items from there, then checkout.
That is so obvious that I don't know how I missed it.
This is just like when I discovered you can just push the Option (or equivalent) button to dump an entire category of items into storage (such as all materials)... which I discovered last month on the PS4, after playing this game since 2013.

Wow I didn't realize that, just noticed that you can give presents to just about any NPC too. That's pretty surprising.

It's both one of the most impressive and yet most haphazardly included mechanics in any game I've ever played (that I really liked). Dynamic relationship ratings with dozens upon dozens of NPCs with their own schedule and likes/dislikes on top of everything else in the game. Just tweaking a few things about it would have made the implementation sooooo much better. But no, suddenly your character is risking their life and the fate of the realm on a character who's name you might not even remember (and don't see again til they have already moved in.)

Its a shame we might never see what they could have expanded on for a sequel, although that goes for several of the games mechanics.

Personally, I think the next step would have been to add in different kinds levels of relationships that had more immediate effects on your world (for a simple example, making friends with a merchant might give you discounts on their products while hurting ties with a competitor, leading to refusal of sale), as well as expanding the amount of ways to build/hurt your relationships outside of just giving gifts and escort quests (Helping out mutual friends, accomplishing goals that indirectly help others, more in depth quests, etc.)

Yup. all of that. And if they are gonna do something like include a Beloved character, just make the Arisen's ring or whatever something you have to actually use via a quest or whatever the same way they used Selene's Herb mixing (I'm sure many ignored it simply because the game let them, even though it had the effect on the endgame it did). There's even things like unique dialogue for a few of them (like Reynard and Mercedes), so I could never call it lazy or anything. It's really intricate, just incredibly confusing and implemented in an almost comedic "gotcha" moment where it never mattered until it actually really did matter.

It's great that it's releasing on console but I'm sad to see that it'll be only 30fps. The game is so good running in 60fps. Oh well there's still the pc version at least for people looking to experiment it. To be fair tho, 30fps stable beats hands down last gen console and the framerate didnt bother me that much on ps3. The game is just that good in my opinion ( Even as far as playing on low 480p 30-45fps on a surface pro 2. I know I'm crazy )

I'm nearing the end of my first play through and my pawn is starting to get that point where he occasionally does stuff that makes me go, "damn, you're a badass!" haha. It feels like DD is one of the few games that has systems in place to allow NPC companions to shine and be genuinely helpful. Watching a pawn leap onto a Chimera's tail and start hacking away because it learnt that's a weak spot is just so cool.

My Gamestop guy at the time was trying to sell me so hard on this game. I purchased Skyrim a week or two prior, and he was like I like DD much better. I looked at the back of the box like, "I'll pass."

I've recentlty watched some PC videos on it, and softened up on my original stance. I just got my X1X and need to get some games for it. What are some of the strengths and weaknesses for someone who loved Skyrim?

Compared to skyrim?

Strengths:

-combat is much much better

Weaknesses:

-almost every other aspect you would look for in an RPG

It has a much heavier focus on action and moment to moment gameplay versus the deep character building and ability to "tell your own story" that the Elder Scrolls would offer. If a deep story and world building takes priority here, than no amount of improved combat will make up for the gap between the two.

Dragons Dogma offers some unique ideas that might catch your eye, but combat is the name of the game.

Hmmm, doesn't sound bad at all. Seems like it's an arcade style rpg.
