I try to watch around 3 films per week, but I'm pretty swamped at the moment. Are there any movies in my watchlist that I should make a priority?

From a quick peek at the first few pages, those are must see IMO:

- One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
- Groundhog Day
- Gladiator
- Army of Darkness
- The Abyss

I'd pick any of those first.

lol slader

I picked ten movies from the first few pages

letterboxd.com

Munich (2005)

During the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, eleven Israeli athletes are taken hostage and murdered by a Palestinian terrorist group known as Black September. In retaliation, the Israeli government recruits a group of Mossad agents to track down and execute those responsible for the attack.

And watch The Godfather already.

The Exorcist is the GOAT horror film. Get on that.

Edit - Oh man, nevermind. You have some other BANGERS waiting for you from the 70s as well.

-The Godfather
-Apocalypse Now
-One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
-Taxi Driver

I use stuff like MyAnimeList and MyMangaList, so this actually looks like an awesome list to archive movie stuff I've watched and things on my backlog! I'll be signing up...

As for recommendations on your own backlog...
Godzilla (1954)
A Song of the Sea
Castle in the SKy
The Silence of the Lambs
Chef
Isle of Dogs
Akira
Kedi
Kubo and the Two Strings
End of Watch
Pulp Fictions
Fantastic Mr. Fox

There's so much great stuff you still need to see, I can't just pick one or a few.

At say I'd say find the film on your watch list with the highest ranking on the Sight and Sound 250 and watch that, rinse, repeat.
https://letterboxd.com/garrincha89/list/sight-and-sound-2012-critics-top-250-films/

Or alternatively, watch La Dolce Vita then watch it again.

Or this:

Pretty good list.

Write them on scraps of paper and put them in a jar. When it's time to pick a film, you pull a name out. If you're not feeling the choice you get one free re roll. The second film is not negotiable though.

Scrolling through your list though.

Shoot the Piano Player
The Lives of Others
One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest
Shoah (Take a few breaks, it's a long and tough watch)
Robocop
Cinema Paradiso
The Descent
They Shall Not Grow Old
Once Upon a Time in America
Shawshank Redemption
Bicycle Thieves
Hoop Dreams
A Hard Days Night
Silence of the Lambs
The Wrestler
Passion of Joan of Arc
8 1/2
M
Rear Window
Casablanca
Eraserhead
Holy Grail
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
Grave of the Fireflies
Vertigo.

I'm going to stop there, you've got a massive list with some amazing films in it.You also have my two favourite films of all time so they would be my strongest recommendations (Vertigo and Once Upon a Time in America)

Damn dude that's some list. Crazy amounts of good stuff on there. Gonna have to rep my boy Tsai and tell you to watch Rebels of the Neon God, otherwise throw a dart at it.

The essentials :

1940s : Citizen Kane
1950s : Rear Window, North By Northwest, Singin In The Rain, Vertigo
1960s : 2001, The Good The Bad & The Ugly, Once Upon A Time In The West
1970s : The Exorcist, Close Encounters, Jaws, The Godfather
1980s : Blood Simple, Das Boot, Raiders Of The Lost Ark
1990s: Barton Fink, 12 Monkeys, Saving Private Ryan, The Big Lebowski, Pulp Fiction
2000s: 500 Days Of Summer, Sideways, O Brother, No Country, Kill Bill, Downfall, There Will Be Blood, Shaun Of The Dead, Master & Commander

You have WAY too many 2010 movies...and I'd eliminate the vast majority of them. I'd just focus on those essentials from pre 2010s and then maybe look at more recent stuff after that.

Skimming through I can see a lot of really good stuff.
#1 for me is Once Upon a Time in America.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is a 3 hour movie that flies by like it's nothing and is still fun as hell today. There are lots of great choices on that list but I'd go with that.

You have plenty of really good movie suggestions to go off of, but lol I sorted by highest average rating and was amused to see Nathan For You's Finding Frances episode in the top #15. Definitely would recommend watching it if you haven't yet, but only if you're already familiar with the show and that guest.

I went through each page and below are the movies you should watch. Rather than highly rated or most important, I went with the movies I like to rewatch.

Abyss
Adventures of Tin Tin
Casino Royale
Clue
Fifth Element
Gattaca
Gladiator
Groundhog Day
Holy Grail
Interstellar
Kung Pow
Mean Girls
Princess Bride
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Shawshank Redemption
Singin' in the Rain

Uh, you need to cut out a lot of the films that aren't really must-sees. I can't imagine everything on that film has equal weight in your mind in terms of interest or quality.

As far as what I'd personally recommend based on some of the pages I saw:

- They Live
- The Exorcist
- Koyaanisqatsi
- Sunshine
- Ernest and Celestine
- Ida

Honestly, it may be a better thread to ask people which films to cross off your list because they aren't especially worth seeing, heh.
