I would guess, if they were interested in checking out the really old entries in the series, most people would pick 1 over 2 as a starting point. Is there a reason less people are playing Fallout 2 over 1? Mod support? Is it a better game?

polish czech russian. eastern european localized version of the game
103KJust checked. Following the Netflix series, The Witcher 3 saw a peak of 78K players on Steam.
Fallout 4 alone will probably surpass this figure tomorrow.
Fallout 1 was given away for free on Steam a few years ago, while I don't think Fallout 2 was ever made free.Is there a reason less people are playing Fallout 2 over 1? Mod support? Is it a better game?
2 is a better game by far, but only because it took what worked from 1 and ramped it up to 11.
TLOU jumped up sales rankings massively when the show came out. F4 and F76 also jumped to the top downloaded games, so it looks like they have had the same effect. Good timing for the res and performance modes to come out along with a sale as well.
Damn. 60K players on Fallout 4 is insane, especially considering the game was released almost 10 years ago. The game hadn't reached such a player count since 2016.
The game has surpassed Cyberpunk, Dragon's Dogma, Elden Ring, and many others this week-end. It's not impossible for it to reach 100K players tomorrow.
Too bad Microsoft doesn't make Game Pass numbers public. I wouldn't be surprised if there were as many players on that platform
I tried F76 since it's free and i legit have way more fun than i expected
im deadThis has got to be a first, combining 9 different games to highlight CCU lol
2 is also much more balanced. You can tell they made the SPECIAL system last minute. Some skills in fallout like outdoorsmen were useless in 1 but very useful in 2.I know some people prefer the first because it was more...focused, maybe?
But I agree, the second takes all the great stuff from 1 and expands and goes absolutely nuts with it. It's fantastic.
Yeah it runs with no issuesHow does Fallout 1 run on modern PCs? Not talking about gameplay or game design, just want to know if I buy it right now will it run properly on my Windows 10 PC?
At least Fallout London expansion mod is just around the corner. It sucks that there's not gonna be a new mainline game for damn near a decade, unless it's being secretly worked on as we speak, which is doubtful.

Other little things like skills costing more points after certain thresholds or some perks actually possible to get due to actually getting enough XP to get past level ~13-15 made the experience just better overall.
I imagine it's also kind of helps that the show doesn't just tell the same story again but is it's own thing. It certainly got me a lot more interested in that world againI mean, you can get every Fallout game you want from 1 buck to 7,50 bucks at max. You can't get the Last of Us games for that.
