Free trial doesn't work at all if you've already bought the game. Even if you're under the free trial level cap. You have to sub, unless you want to make a new account and then buy a copy of the game on that account when you're done with the free trial.
Congested is not the same as being unable to create a character on the server. Congested means you cannot create a character on that server at all, no matter what the current load is. Ultros is now Standard, not Congested. SE manually changing the status to Standard means characters can be created at certain times, usually when server load is light. So, for now, you can create a character on Ultros dependent on server load (i.e. not congested. There's a difference between congested and Congested is what I'm getting at).
Yeah the game is really economic with space for the lack of a better word.
Yeah. It's been taking a while longer since ShB launch. Like KaiPow said, you can try relogging and refreshing the mailbox, but it might just take a while

Right, makes sense. I guess my question is how often do servers get flipped on/off from Congested (where you can't make a character at all)? tl;dr I wanna be on Ultros, but I also wasn't planning on starting the game for probably another 1-3 months. If Congested can last for long periods of time I'd consider subbing now just to make a character on Ultros for later basically.

But Eden is i425 to get in. Why would you need to do Titania Ex for that?
Yeah, Normal raids are easy and the earlier you go the less people will expect that you know the fights. It's the perfect time to just jump in!

7 weeks? I'm guessing that is doing the final Tier 1 Raid once a week for seven weeks? I guess I should be a bit surprised considering Omega only took 4 weeks. Though granted I only began doing Omega well after the Final Tier had released.
I think every single floor took exactly two pulls in DF; on the fourth one I did feel like it was partially lucky group selection.

You'll probably be fine. Basically every server was Congested when ShB launched, and the Standard ones didn't have char creation open very often, so lots of people were unable to make a character. A ton of servers were moved from Congested to Standard today (Ultros included). Ultros will probably stay Standard the vast majority of the time
Awesome, thanks! I've been absolutely dying to really dive into this game for a long time now and all of the praise given to Shadowbringers has got me hyped, but I'm focusing hard right now on getting my backlog down pretty low before I want to really start this up and focus on it.
Worse case scenario if Ultros is Congested if there's a Preferred server up I can just start there and do a transfer later.
What's the iLVL requirement for Eden? Do I need a bunch of EX Trial gear in order to get in there or does my post-game AF gear suffice? I have absolutely no one to play with right now so extreme trials are not happening.

I started playing last week and got an arcanist up to 25 on Exodus, but now that Ultros is no longer congested I think I'll create another character on Ultros so I can start over and join the Era FC.
That said... as a brand new player I'm a bit overwhelmed. Is the recommended path to stick with the MSQs? I'm curious about crafting/gathering but I don't even know where to start with those. I'm reading through one of the beginner's guides on Reddit but the amount of content (especially as a WoW player, haha) is still overwhelming!

You have to progress through MSQ to actually unlock content, so yeah, do that. Whenever you feel like you're getting stuck, you can play around in the Deep Dungeons (Palace of the Dead at level 50, Heaven-on-High at level 60) to speed-level your characters without worrying about constantly upkeeping your gear.
Lol i lost sleep last night tryna gear up thinking eden would be 435 only for it to be 425. I guess it's not all bad since I'm properly geared for it and Titania later this week/weekend. I'm excited to give it a try when i get home from work later tonight.
Biased as a WHM so content never takes me longer than 10 seconds to queue into, but even then it's not a terribly long wait for any of the 24 mans since people are always doing alliance roulette and the chances of queueing into ivalice are better now since most people are queueing in at 80 to farm tomes.
