I wonder how they can detect it. As far as I'm aware not even Microsoft and Sony can detect XIM since it reads the input as a controller.

I mean, at a basic level, through the USB connection would be my guess. USB devices have a whole bunch of info that any OS can get from it (which I think can be full of bus info as well)

The other way is prolly more complicated dealing with inputs going from 0->1 instantly with no in-between (which can also be fixed on the xim side to counter detection)

They should just force players into PC servers when XIM is connected. Pretty sure PS4 does this now with KB/M users. Either way it's a good move.
