Biden Doesn't Want to Hear Millennials Complain

"No, no, I have no empathy for it, give me a break."

Oh for sure, real empathetic.

I mean, I already voted for the guy, but he's right of center as Democrats go. You can't blame people for not being thrilled that he's the one who made it to the top.
He's running the most left campaign in the history of democrats. And people aren't thrilled, yet he dominated the primary overall.

He lost his wife and multiple children to accidents and illness. He knows what it's like to suffer the deepest pain. He's able to empathize with people going through similar hardship because he's been there. And so he will value life and the lives of others in a way most politicians will not. That's what I mean, but I suspect you know this... Also, as others have noted, he's running arguably the most progressive platform to date.

Will it hurt? If it causes even one person to think about the election and maybe looking up when their early voting time is, it's a success.
Not a success in terms of influencing the election in any meaningful way.

Who knows, but it can't hurt at all. Worst case is that doesn't sway anyone and oh well.
I'd rather see more informative and persuasive outreach to young potential voters. I know it's not an either/or thing, but if people aren't learning why politics is relevant to their lives, this kind of thing is a waste of time and resources. You're not going to win people over by shoehorning a presidential campaign into entertainment. People don't want to see that shit unless it's interesting or entertaining.

What are you doing to help this election since Greg using his platform and audience in a way that works with what he does (video games) is apparently worth dumping on?

I already gave you an example of what this can accomplish: keeping the election relevant and pervasive for people who aren't necessarily seeking it out. That's why the sports leagues run awareness commercials: putting it in front of someone who might otherwise be cut off from the process and current events but is affected directly by the outcome of elections.

Young people aren't interested in policies or politics in general so it honestly doesn't hurt to try. Instead of people rolling their eyes at this they should be happy that the constant push to remove trump is happening all fronts.

Thomas Nook btw is a crook and probably a conservative.

Don't pull this tired gambit on me, lol. I don't need to lift a finger to be qualified to criticize political messaging that I think is ineffective.

"What are you doing?" Fuck outta here, dude. This is a discussion forum.

It's not keeping the election relevant in any way that matters. By any way that matters, I mean teaching people how their lives are affected by election outcomes. Hell, pointing out that we lost net neutrality to conservative bullshit would at least be relevant to gamers.

I know what you're saying. But maybe the fact that young people aren't interested in policies or politics is exactly the kind of problem that should be addressed in youth outreach efforts. It's just frustrating to know how dicked this country is, due in part to young eligible voters ignoring politics, and then see inane nonsense like a Biden-themed Animal Crossing island.

Anyway, Tom Nook is clearly a Libertarian.

ok when I was 18 I could tell you right now a youth outreach discussing policies and politics on me would have backfired and been a waste of that person's time. If they did something in say...Halo? Then they would have had my attention.

But we live in a world where Gary Whitta hosts a successful talk show in Animal Crossings that gets big name guests and all of a sudden this shit isn't so crazy.

Nah it's extremely relevant when you're criticizing actual action from behind a keyboard. Keep your smug intellectual superiority act though, that'll be what helps win in November.

You offering up 'teaching about net neutrality' as something that would be better for engagement than whatever audience and attention this reaches shows how you don't have any idea what you're talking about. You want a gaming audience to tune out of your podcast? Go talk to them about net neutrality to motivate them to vote or engage with the process.

Easy to criticize and do nothing while offering up no actual solutions or action of your own.

Right, I'm being smug and "intellectually superior" for saying Biden Island is dumb. You really told me off.

Go back to Twitter.

It'd be nice if pedophiles weren't forced into Animal Crossing. Trump is a piece of garbage and I hope he gets demolished, but my God they could not have picked a worse candidate than Biden.

I would say the difference is I dont believe that biden even know how to turn on a switch compared to gary whitta probably plays it.

Also dont think Biden deserves to even be associated with Animal Crossing lol

Biden himself is by all accounts a deeply empathetic person, too, one who has experienced soul-crushing personal losses but has grown as a result of them.
He publicly lied about the driver being drunk in the accident, causing pain to the person involved and their family. The truck driver was not at fault. He only contacted the family to apologize 2009, ten years after the man had died. No public statement to clear his name.
Could be about this behaviour, inapproriate touching of women, including kids.

They should ban all Trump supporters from Kinda Funny channels and social media. We don't need that crap.
Atleast they've made it very clear they don't want any Trump supporters as fans. They literally spelled it out in Twitter for someone asking.

You're acting intellectually superior for criticizing someone actually giving a shit and then when pressed on what you're offering, you hid behind 'it's just a DiScUsSiOn FoRuM'. If there's anyone I don't want to hear from about voter engagement/awareness it's the person who shrinks behind being on a message board when pressed on actual tangible action that they are taking part in.

No one think this small thing is going to make huge waves but it's significant for someone who is pretty well known in the editorial space to use their platform in the video game industry that is

A) Toxic
B) Traditionally hands off on political matters
C) Used as a gateway to alt-right commentary/politics
D) Consistently intersecting with social and political issues that it's younger audience isn't always equipped to handle or understand

So when someone in this industry like Greg/KF is willing to stick their neck out and take a stand and position that might be divisive for his audience and career going forward it deserves to be praised.

Your cynicism is all harm, no help. It might not be everything but at least it's something.

Excuse me, but "shrinks behind"? I think you forgot what kind of platform this is, and what we use it for. This isn't a credibility contest. I think Biden Island is lame as fuck. I explained why in clear terms. I know it would turn me off, because I used to be part of the target audience. I don't need your approval or any special qualification to say so, and I'm not obligated to be positive and optimistic about "How do you do, fellow kids?" outreach if I sincerely think it's no good.

I'm a voter. I play games. I can say if I think this Animal Crossing tie-in is good or not.

And BTW, while I'm flattered you think my opinion actually matters, I can assure you that when Rendering... makes one skeptical post on Resetera dot com, he's not moving the land and the sea. My opinion is doing zero harm.

Ok so what camp do you fall in?
Right wing person? Angry socialist that hates Biden because he is not Bernie? Someone privledged enough not to be impacted by Trump? Because I can't seem to grasp where you're coming from and why the fact this event happening draws such negative responses not only from you but others on this side of the forums.

Like KindaFunny has been going hard for Biden, maybe you need to give this a listen

According to Snopes, we don't know whether the driver was drunk or not:

"No definitive evidence exists to prove or rule out whether the other driver had been drinking, and belief that drinking had contributed to the crash was reportedly prevalent among the local community and not something Biden simply made up on his own."

Should Biden not say such a thing unless he's 100% sure? Of course not. But this is regarding an incident where he lost his wife and child. There's something to be said for headspace.

At the end of the day, he knows the value of human life because he lost a wife and multiple children. I trust him to not start unnecessary wars or put us in harm's way.

I think Biden Island is lame as fuck.
Which is a far cry from how you started with
Is this really expected to sway voters or motivate younger people to vote?
Which was a dressed up way of saying 'I think this sucks, why even bother' which is what you made very clear trough your subsequent posts. That is the part I attacked and disagreed with. That's the harmful mindset. The eye roll at people trying and caring which is what all of your posts painfully articulate.

Would say im a socialist who wants better for people and know we wont ever get that voting for biden or any one of the like. Bernie is just scraps of what we wanted and we are not mad that he inparticular lost but that the system is clearly designed to never even allow it to go in the direction of someone like Bernie. Yall gotta stop confusing the two and stop acting like anyone has to be excited about Biden who will only be slightly better than trump on very few things and follow up with someone worse than trump.

I want actual real progress that wont ever come from voting or believing in this system of American politics. There are posters way better than me at explaining this point and why no real change will come about from any presidential candiate. I think you can make cases for more local politicians though, but not anywhere near a expert on the matter.

Also Biden is just a straight ghoul lol

Ok so you're bitter your person lost and can't let it go so you're going to shit on anything Biden related. I figured that but didn't want to jump to conclusions.
