TLJ was enjoyable, but it definitely needed some edits and reshoots to shorten the movie. There were too many contrived instances and shoehorned moments, and felt like they were padding the runtime.

OP displaying an odd amount of insecurity by omitting a "didn't love" option to the poll, for such a universally beloved movie.

Overhated and not bad at all. The people that are the reason have made discussion of it and Star Wars in general miserable for the last 5 years.

Y'all's reaction def got what y'all wanted with Star Wars in TROS, right? 🙄

Lol came here to click the No or Thor 2 dark world option. Leaving this thread like I left the theater.

Disappointed

Andor has some references to TLJ.

It has none to TROS.

Best Star Wars film. Sadly it was followed by the terrible Rise of Skywalker, but Rian Johnson made a fantastic film that could have given a great perspective for the franchise.

Fucking fantastic movie. I don't think I'm ever going to get over the fact that fan reaction led them to "course correct" with the Rise of Skywalker. Really ruins this trilogy knowing that it leads...no where.

Has it flaws but It's the only of the sequel trilogy that feels like an actual film, fuck nazis btw.

Stuff like this is why the one who are just lukewarm about the movie end up in arguments and on the side of hating on it. Not everyone that hates this movie is some bigot. I will argue against anyone who thinks this is the best SW movie, crazy take.

Loved it when I saw it in the theaters shortly after release; I was the only person in my group that enjoyed it at all. I still enjoy it today. The hatred towards the movie turned me off of Star Wars though. Made me realize how my enjoyment of the franchise did not line up with other fans.

I wish I liked this movie more than I did. I'm a Star Wars fanatic but that middle portion with the casino planet is just so bad and slow. This movie is probably a 6.5/10 I'd say.

I thought it had a lot of good (Kylo and Rey's arc, Rey's parentage, Luke) but it also had a lot of weird issues that were overly complicated and lead to nothing. Ultimately I thought it had a positive impact on the series in the end.

The Rise of Skywalker though? I've seen technically "worse" movies, but this "movie" was so insultingly stupid and self-indulgent that not only did it kill any enjoyment I had in the franchise (even retroactively to the good movies), but I literally can't wrap my head around people, ACTUAL HUMAN BEINGS, who walk around and live a normal day-to-day life, who LIKE the movie. Who are these people? What's going on in their sick, twisted little minds?

Okay I'm being a bit dramatic at the end there, but seriously, I've never been ANGRY at a movie like that one lmao

Never will like this film nor the rest of the trilogy. Seeing Andor made me realize that it makes these films even worse and I'm just gonna try and forget that they existed and that they wasted the old cast.

Absolutely the best Star Wars movie by a million miles.

Love it so much. Loved it immediately. I was shocked after seeing it and then jumping on here (and on the internet in general) to see everyone's reactions. The polarization was astounding.

As someone who finally got round to watching all the mainline Star Wars films this year, it was certainly one of the better ones.

Didn't really like it outside of a few parts but the whole shit show and vitriol spit out for it and those involved just made me not bother discussing or reading about it. It's the best sequel trilogy movie though, which ain't saying much.

This is the one where Leia flies through space right? Hahaha. Loved it. I can't think of a single scene I appreciate more in the entire franchise than that one. So goofy.

I was goofed up on edibles in the theater and this was the exact moment where I realized that I don't think any of these movies are actually any good, lol. It was a watershed moment.

I agree on one thing though, the cinematography is top tier. Probably the best looking SW movie. I've put on the throne room scene from the movie just to see how it looks on OLED and Dolby vision on Disney+.

I liked it a lot. I was actually pretty dumbfounded when I realized it was so divisive.

Kind of sad that we won't see that Rian Johnson trilogy anytime soon but I'm glad that he's doing...better things

I vividly remember my audience audibly groaning collectively when it was revealed that Rey was Palpatine's granddaughter.

This was the last movie I saw before the pandemic began and everything shut down. Talk about leaving a sour taste your mouth XD

I think it felt quite too silly and disconnected from other main films. Maybe it's just me neglecting my expanded universe homework by not consuming any expanded universe material outside films for like 15+ years, but the sequel films in general failed to make me understand their universe's internal logic, but then again it all was just machinations of a goofy space warlock again.

It was a very interesting 45 minute long movie about the nature of heroism and the Force, which was unfortunately couched within like 80 other minutes of abject garbage.

It was a very good movie and I truly wish the next one didn't betray all the good, risky story decisions Rian Johnson made.

5 years and you nerds can't go a day without talking about it.

It's a watershed moment in nerd culture, and separates the wheat from the chaff. ;)

I vividly remember my audience audibly groaning collectively when it was revealed that Rey was Palpatine's granddaughter.

The thing is it wasn't even unexpected for me so I couldn't even muster up much umbrage. Fans kept wanting Rey to be tied to an existing lineage and you just knew they'd do it, and there are only so many options from the actual mainline films, all of which are just terrible. That's one of the many reasons why by far the best option would have been to keep her a "nobody."

A lot of good ideas wrapped in a movie I hated. Thought we couldn't go lower, but then Rise of Skywalker came out. Womp Womp!

But its absolute worst contribution is all the chuds who came out of the woodwork to hate on Rey and Rose. The characters are the best part of the sequels! Jerks. Poisoned the well for anyone who just isn't a fan.

Very mid film, but at least it had good cinematography.

Half of this movie (Canto Bight/Resistance space chase) is boring. I couldn't bother to watch the whole thing again.

RO/Andor easily clear it as the best Star Wars content released recently.

The was nothing wrong with the casino scene and I will forever die on that hill.

My only regret was not publicly showing praise when it could have still gotten a worthwhile sequel
