Even if it is technically not enforced, asking players to break the TOS to play their game is insane. That should not be the official stance of any company. Blocking from sale makes sense if they do proceed with this.
I honestly think someone at Sony was not happy with Arrowhead PR making that recommendation to break the PSN ToS. And that made them go for the nuclear oprion to ban sales there altogether

Japan?

Also I have no idea what Sony is doing. What a trainwreck.
This makes no sense though.
There is also a country code XD in there. I found this on reddit originally.

Is this legit? Not sure anymore.

EDIT: When I search the number in the link, it is on the HD2 app page on SteamDB. So seems legit to me, could be wrong though.

Good job whiners, you fucked it for those people from those countries who had no qualms making a foreign PSN account or using their existing one.

I assume Japan being on there was a fat fingered mistake.

Also from PC only players that seem to not believe that Sony doesn't ban accounts made out of region.
I couldnt give a shit about what you "believe" , the TOS is still messed up regardless and it's insane to ask money for a game while having on the TOS that you can be banned from the game at any time Sony wishes for the crime of making a PSN account off region

The only one who messed up here is Sony. Off region accounts being against T.O.S should be taken out of the T.O.S

lmao@Sony

They could have just been normal, but they chose to burn so much goodwill for some PSN shit that nobody wants.
Honestly, requiring an account link on multiplayer games is normal. The problem is they allowed to much a time period that they didn't officially require it.

End result though is that a developer who is making an amazing game, going about MTX in the right way, and pricing their product well is going to get screwed. Shit sucks.

Puerto Rico isn't even a country where PSN is unavailable wtf

Puerto Rico is there, you just have to choose United States first and then select Puerto Rico from the subsequent list
Puerto Rico isn't even a country, period. It's part of the United States. No idea why Steam lists it as a separate country since they just use the USD anyways and it's even more stupid it's delisted here.

How is it not blatantly obvious that Sony didn't intend people from those countries to be playing HD2 to begin with? They literally just blocked them all because they had made an oversight initially. Somehow trying to blame this on the end users is ridiculous.

Because we have been using fake PSN accounts for 15 plus years and no one has ever get banned for it .
Are you trying to say Sony don't want my money cause i have to use USA PSN when i in Barbados with fake address and they know people do this .

It turned out that all the people upset about PSN being mandatory being a problem for countries without PSN access were right, and you are really going to try and put Sony fucking over that many countries on the end users?

LMAO it's the funniest goalpost movement I've seen in years. Because of course Sony was definitely not planning to do this all the time.

I feel for Arrowhead. Sony is messing up their good thing.

They did the best possible move by siding with players. Considering that this was going to be the outcome anything else would have killed all of their hard-earned good faith. At least now they get to keep the good faith from all of the people aware of them being the ones suggesting players to review bomb. I'm sure their next title will sell very well if they go fully independent.

I wish people wouldn't be like 'just break the TOS, no big deal'. I straight up lost tons of digital content from amazon cause I moved, I don't trust that shit at all.

They need to offer some sort of loophole for people here to make accounts without also feeling like they're breaking TOS, that's on Sony at this point

Some of these are just territories of countries that do have PSN. Puerto Rico and Svalbard for example. This seems like it was done in a rush.

Is it though, there's a fair bit of America that doesn't think so, and it's fucked up.

Sony blocked those countries, and will likely block them by default on all future games requiring a PSN account. Blame the company that did it and not the end users that have zero control over corporate policy.

Yep, I really feel bad for Arrowhead here. They launched this game at $40. Everything is earnable in game, you can grind to buy everything including the battle passes. They have done a tremendous job building a community and having a great time with the players. All of it crashing down because Sony didn't just stick to the requirement from the job. It sucks.

Foreign PSN accounts have been something Sony have looked the other way on for over 15 years.

Bozos have now drawn attention to it making it the biggest gaming news story of the week and forced Sony's hand in enforcing TOS. Good job.

This plus the refunds for people with 200+ hours in game feels like Steam or someone at Steam preempting Sony to make a point? I'd have imagined Sony would probably have handled the issue of regions without PSN a little later on and a little more delicately otherwise.

If this wasn't a crisis yesterday it's a crisis now.

Sony doesn't care if you break their TOS and use an off-region account. Sony also doesn't care enough to actually remove the idea of regions or at least highlight how little they care. And now that lack of care is fucking them, because good-faith people who want to follow the rules will read the rules and conclude that if they don't have a PSN region then they can't set up a PSN account.

Through the sheer momentum of people telephoning each other PSN now has an off-region ban whether they actually wanted one or not. Good fucking luck fixing that now.
