This announcement was my highlight of E3 and it was worth every penny.
Best 15 dollars I have ever spent.
Wish them all the success in the world.

I've already bought 20+ games in the 15 months I've had it. That's quite a lot for me.Switch owners eating up software.
Switch software sales must he higher than N64, Gamecube and Wii U aligned yes?
Can you imagine how hopeful news like this probably make the little indie studios who put all their love and passion in their games, now knowing that there is a hardware were people actively seek for these little gems instead of being gulfed in the sea of high profile games these days.
Hope that happened so the indie honeymoon on Switch would be over. The Switch is the perfect indie machine. Every indie game should release on it.
What the fuck are you blabbering about. Hollow Knight at Switch release is NO WAY "relatively unknown". The surrounding buzz and word of mouth that it has gathered since release is akin ti Demon's Souls; a very recognizeable title among gaming circles which only the mainstream press barely talk about. In fact, by Reggie's own wording during the reveal he pretty much implies that the game has a strong following before it release on the Switch. If a relatively unknown indie game like HK can sell 250k units on Switch only at some point one has to stop and think just how much money is Nintendo leaving on the table by not releasing a port (or remaster?) of Mother 3. And HK doesnt have two decades worth of Super Smash Bros hype and hordes of fans evangelizing people since 2006!

Let's not act like Hollow Knight is a buried gem on Steam and then somehow got saved when it is released on Switch. That is some revisionist bullshit over there.
I should really get golf story sometime.Between Golf Story and Hollow Knight, Aussie indies are killing it on the Switch.
I'd rather play in my bed with headphones on, thanks.Or, you know, you could play it on pc over a year ago and not wait

I just checked their Kickstarter campaign and they really didn't get much funding, I wonder why. Was it the Australia factor? Lack of press connections? or KS fatigue?
Regardless, glad it worked out in the end.
A year or two ago when SteamSpy was still able to access info more easily, I was paying close attention to Steam indie releases and generally speaking, selling 100k or more in your first month placed you in the top tier of indie successes. Selling 250k on a single platform in half a month places you in indie mega-blockbuster status.
I don't need to imagine. I'm crossing my fingers so hard for our Switch release and news like this gives me hope. I'd be pleased even if we only got a tenth of these figures spread out over the course of a year. :)
I bought it. How do you even access the dlc, is it built in?or wait, get all the DLC with the core game for $15, and have it portable
Hollow Knight really needs to be the next indie superstar cameo character like Shovel Knight. The character has a really distinct silhouette, already has a weapon and moveset, etcTeam Cherry with Hollow Knight joins Yacht Club Games and their Shovel Knight as another great example of a successful kickstarter campaign.

I have Golf Story, Stardew Valley, and Haolow Knight, which are all fantastic, I'm addicted to Hollow Knight right know.
Which other games should I get next? Thinking of jumping into Shovel Knight next
Exactly the same here. I have those games and am looking for more indies on Switch.I have Golf Story, Stardew Valley, and Haolow Knight, which are all fantastic, I'm addicted to Hollow Knight right know.

Binding of Isaac, Steamworld Dig 2 and Celeste are the ones that come up most commonly.
Just played this for I think an hour. I don't know how early I am in the game or how to gauge my progress, but...
Holy fucking shit. This has to be the best kept secret in the history of the industry. How is this not more talked about? How is this such an under the radar thing still? How was this not nominated for awards last year?

from what I saw everyone that played it last year sang its praises whenever possible and during GotY time were bummed it didn't get more recognition. I think Giant Bomb gave it a name drop at some point as a thing that they saw people were passionate about but that no one played so they couldn't really recognize it anywhere and I know Ben Moore of EZA played a little bit of it on PC and made a video about it and might have given it a shout during GotY season
My theory is that Switch owners' hunger for new games will never stop, simply because we get A LOT of playtime, compared to stationary consoles. It's so much easier to get done with a game on Switch. So we just keep buying them lol
It was damn shame that it was only out on PC last year because it would have gotten so many more votes in the ERA GOTY if it had released on Switch then.
When the whole "should PUBG be eligible" debate was raging, I typically used Hollow Knight as an argument for why the concern over games being voted for in multiple years was silly (ie should Switch (and hopefully PS4) owners not be able to vote for it in 2018 because it already released on PC in 2017?)

This is a good thing. If gaming and games in genres could never surpass the games that created or influenced those genres, then the medium would be painfully disappointingly stagnantWell deserved. Hollow Knight was my GOTY of 2017 despite so many other amazing games. It is quite hard to admit, but it dethroned Super Metroid as my favorite in the genre.
It came out within a few days of Breath of the Wild. It's just weird because I heard almost no talk of this game for GOTY considerations last year from the media. How can this game be so amazing, but missed by so many? Other indies type of games got their kudos.

Let everyone enjoy their stuff. They're hugely talented, their work deserves to be exposed to as many people as possible.I want to see them take this revenue, add some more equally talented staff, and see what they can produce next. I wish Nintendo would just buy them and have them produce the next 2D Metroid or top-down Zelda. I know it's pie in the sky but a boy can dream.
