I'd drop any hobby except videogames for a million dollars, maybe two million if I wanna be greedy. Not dropping videogames since it's the only thing I look forward to anymore, only motivation to get a job, only motivation to make friends, etcetera. It's just more or less the one form of entertainment I'm interested in, and while I do want to get a job and be successful, travel the world and have a family, I'd like to include videogames with that. I love listening to music, but I usually only listen to music when I'm playing games or talking about games or reading about games.

If I dropped videogames for money, I'd have nothing to spend the money on. Since dropping the hobby is just an easy way out of having to work for money, and is entirely optional, I'd rather work hard every day so I could, at the end of the day, at least enjoy some amount of game time.

I don't think I would withdraw from my hobby, as I don't know why money would be the solution in finding a new hobby, unless you are poor and want a very expensive hobby. Regardless if this is like a contract thing they would have to pay me a billion to be able withstand not only video games, but also anything from watching them on youtube or just getting interested in them. Especially since games are going nowhere and will prob be one of the most successful forms of entertainment as it already is, but it will grow even more.

I think I would just focus on animals instead or real estate, or decoration and design or just travelling really, and prob also just go to a lot of concerts and that sort of thing. But a lifelong commitment to avoiding one of the most immersive and impactful forms of entertainment just for money, seems unlikely, in my case at least

Yeah, that's not gonna happen I'm afraid.

What good is money when you can't spend it on the things that make you happy?

I don't think I'll pick anything reasonable. $1 billion or nothing.
As cheesy as this may sound, I love playing and discussing games too much.

Gaming and gaming media is such a huge part of my life, it's what I spend most of my free time on and what I have spent most of my free time on for my whole life.

I can't put a price on it. If I made the decision to take a large amount of money over stopping being a gamer...I wouldn't be me. Who would I be then?

Now if the question was: "would you give up gaming to win the affections of an unrequited love?" To that I would be more likely to sacrifice games.

I don't mind giving up gaming in exchange for cash because I already face problem managing time for each hobby.

I just don't know how much I'm willing to do so until I'm presented with a sum.

I thought this would be an easy decision but I honestly don't think there's a realistic amount I would accept.

At first I thought "easy, about ÂŁ5m would set me and the family up for life". But then all I could think was "imagine all the games I could buy with that".

So nah, gaming is intrinsic to my life now. It's helped form 80% of the relationships I have and to deny myself that for money would be a travesty.

Enough for me to have my own house with audio treated room with professional mixing tables and recording booths and then some lessons from professionals on how to best utilize all that. Ahh fuck it still wouldn't cut it because I specifically like making music for game stuff so yeah xD

I thought about it but yeah, I don't think I could stop playing games forever. I'd be able to live this luxurious life and never have to answer to anyone, but then I'd be bored as fuck without having games to play.

I would probably struggle to accept anything less that ÂŁ100 million. Didn't realise I loved this hobby that much until just now

Enough to pay off my house and debts, to get a nice bigger house and enough left over to get a suite of hardware synths and a kitted out studio. I've got more than one time demanding hobby to indulge in!

For $350 I'd seriously consider it and for $500 I'd take it without any further questions.

I don't think all the money in the world could make me to give up gaming mainly because all i can think about when i have that money is how many video games can i buy with it.

Enough to be able to replace it entirely with a new hobby that is just as fun / enjoyable.

It sounds weird to think but honestly millions, so that I could live a life of luxury. I don't know what else I'd do (and enjoy) to replace it otherwise. Maybe reading with binge watching movies/TV would work for a few hundred thousand. But I don't think I'd want to give it up.

Enough money to take away financial worries and completely fund a new hobby/obsession. Maybe half a million pounds? Then I could pay off my mortgage, get some work done to the house & have the time and money to invest is something else. I'd probably either end up playing role-playing board games or watch a fuckton of film/TV shows.

As much as how tempting money is, it would be priceless considering the game is literally like a part of my life. But then again my other self is saying I also have a lot of other things I value more so I'll take how much money I could get *ugh*

The hardest part about this is not even the act of not playing but to remove it entirely from my life right down to socialising with friends and family? The kids come over and they want to play some games but I can't set them up with the latest fancy couch co-op game I have? I can't even download something quickly on the tablet to draw a kid's attention span away for a moment while I focus on something else?

If I'm sitting around having a coffee with some of my mates and they end up discussing the latest Smash Bros how am i supposed to behave? If I'm not even allowed to listen and perhaps share in their enthusiasm/discussion then I'm probably out. I doubt I can put a price on friendships and while it isn't strictly built on gaming I feel it would certainly put a wedge in the friendship that I simply do not need.

I don't think I could do it for any amount, I would miss games to much and I would just want to buy games with that money anyway.

Quite a bit. I have 2 hobbies really that's gaming and cars (motorsports) . I'd need a lot of money to move on to motorsports full time.

I wouldn't take any amount of money to exit, because if I had the kind of money that would allow me to do whatever I wanted... I'd just want to build monster PCs and buy games.

Oh damn. This question has sorta made me look back and see the other hobbies I use to spend allot OF time enjoying before I got hardcore into gaming and dropped them to very minimal levels nowdays.

Watching mostly all Sports, buying up tons of gear for my teams, traveling to minor league hockey games to check out the fights :D
Reading
Building models
Jogging
Comic and toy collecting
Geez....

I could easily drop gaming altogether but I would never, ever, enjoy these other hobbies nearly as closely as I do gaming.

Give me $10,000,000.... tax free, and I'd very much consider it.
I mean I could fly to see the Mets at anytime, considering with 10 mil I wouldn't have to worry about paying bills with a job from that point on. Or travel to every toy convention or comic convention when I felt like it. Or spend allot of time entering marathons with bike riding, damn I use to enjoy those when I was younger.

But would I really want to?
Damn I love gaming that much. I don't wanna ever let it go,its in my DNA nowdays.
Its like they say, there are some things money just can't buy. Hmmm.

None.

I consider games to be on the same level as music and movies. They're expressions of creativity and passion (well, some are) and are one of the few mediums that allows me to feel like a child again, and to connect with children (and adults) sharing that feeling of wonder and joy. That's priceless to me, and no amount of money could ever be enough to make me abandon it. Never gonna happen.

25 million. I'll quit gaming, and my job as a QA/TRC Tester at my workplace.

I'll use all my free time to train to become a useful member for the Mars Expedition and live forever on Mars when 2024 hits! My life will become a sci-fi heaven, but until then it's back to gaming.

Gosh, I honestly don't know. I mean it would have to be A LOT like.. 10's of millions minimum. While the rest of my life would be great I think w/o gaming I would have a void I couldn't fill. Even that awesome life would be downplayed because I'd be stuck watching TV or Reading in my downtime. I feel like a legitimate offer would be considered but only to provide a better a life for my family and I. I would be in a personal hell but honestly I'm sure I could find a way. Hard to cry about video games while your driving your Bently Mulsanne Convertible.

Same like many others said.
Endless money, its hard to imagine my life without games but if i had no limits for money im sure i could just travel and do other things.

I was almost so bored of games few years ago that i stopped playing for many months but then the spark hit again.

I mean if you pay me enough to set me up with tons of books and art supplies that last me at least the next ten years I'm content with that. Oh, and room to store everything in.

Gaming is my main passion, so I'm not sure any amount of money would be worth it. I probably do have my price though, but it's gonna be damn high.

Enough so I can pay people to make games for me and then I could still play games since it won't be a hobby anymore, it'll be work and research.

The value of my house, plus a yearly stipend for health insurance and health care costs for the family. Being sans those two expenses would free up a ton of money for travel and my other hobbies (LEGOs, books, board games), or allow me to give up some salary and work for a non profit.

Huh. Now you've actually got me thinking about whether games are worth it. On the one hand, Odyssey was pure joy over the weekend. On the other hand, I could have spent that time reading or finishing up the LEGO haunted castle I've been working on for Halloween ...
