Cherry-picked witnesses. Hmm, would be great if some potential witnesses weren't being blocked by the White House from actually testifying.

Is impeachment only an extra wall protecting the president? What's the point of all this wasted time for the Senate to still be the final say? Surely being impeached must mean something. Perhaps it changes the publics perception of a president when they're impeached? But does that even matter in this case? This is so frustrating.
It does matter. After reviewing the evidence, Republicans in the Senate will have to go on record and vote on the fact that they are OK with Trump's actions as President. Their legacies will forever be tied to his traitorous behavior. Regardless of what the naysayers say, that is significant.

The procedure was written up on the assumption that the US wouldn't turn into a two-party shitshow where people put party before country. They assumed that senators would be objective and take their jobs seriously. The result is that, yeah, in this form it's mostly a gigantic stain on a presidency. However, it's the House's duty to impeach regardless, as they don't control what the senate does. Don't think it doesn't matter, though... just see how unhinged Trump has been during the process. He clearly cares.
Can't stop watching sweaty, twitchy fat guy...
He is EXTREMELY distracting.

Trump is gonna say he wasn't impeached because he wasn't removed. He doesn't understand the difference. When he's not removed, he's gonna quadruple down on the "See?! It was a witch hunt!" narrative.

What are the chances the Senate votes to kick Trump out of office? Is it like a 1% chance or significantly higher than that?

The majority leader of the Senate is working with the Trump administration on the format and length of the Senate trial. They are literally deciding how long to spend before acquitting him. 0%.

I truly hope these people's careers are tarnished going forward.

Significant in that it can be used against them should they try to unseat anyone in any office for any reason. They're setting a precedent and must maintain power at all costs, otherwise this will come to bite them in the ass. It will also look exceptionally poor on them if Trump is convicted of any crimes, or if anything additional comes to light. It effectively sets the stage (hopefully) to use these votes as a weapon against Republicans politically in the future. Also, history books, etc etc.

Why are dems so happy about the impeachment then? Is it just to piss Trump off and attach a black mark to his presidency? Or do some believe he will actually get the boot?

Who is happy? It is their responsibility to impeach and present evidence. They all know he won't get removed but it doesn't mean you just do nothing.
