Pretty much not a goddamned thing. You get footnote in history saying people didn't like you.
And you get a built in excuse if you lose the next election after they weren't removed from office.

Were republicans stanning this hard for Nixon during his impeachment?

It does matter. After reviewing the evidence, Republicans in the Senate will have to go on record and vote on the fact that they are OK with Trump's actions as President. Their legacies will forever be tied to his traitorous behavior. Regardless of what the naysayers say, that is significant. Is impeachment only an extra wall protecting the president? What's the point of all this wasted time for the Senate to still be the final say? Surely being impeached must mean something. Perhaps it changes the publics perception of a president when they're impeached? But does that even matter in this case? This is so frustrating.
The procedure was written up on the assumption that the US wouldn't turn into a two-party shitshow where people put party before country. They assumed that senators would be objective and take their jobs seriously. The result is that, yeah, in this form it's mostly a gigantic stain on a presidency. However, it's the House's duty to impeach regardless, as they don't control what the senate does. Don't think it doesn't matter, though... just see how unhinged Trump has been during the process. He clearly cares. Is impeachment only an extra wall protecting the president? What's the point of all this wasted time for the Senate to still be the final say? He is EXTREMELY distracting.
That's not at all what happened.

They should have just said the tapes proved Nixon was innocent over and over again and Watergate was hearsay.
His standup show next weekend should be pretty good. Why does John Oliver have to be on break during all of this madness? 😂
Except when it comes to lives mattering, I guess...Trump's such a hardline partisan that he refuses to be team blue for anything.

Nintendo Switch or PS4? Nintendo Switch
Red pill or blue pill? you better believe ol donny is transcending the matrix
What are the chances the Senate votes to kick Trump out of office? Is it like a 1% chance or significantly higher than that?

They're on extremely strict timers and the floor whips would have asked the members for how much time they needed ahead of time to try to plan the whole thing out.
Non-zero. Barely, but still. A % would be a waste of time. What are the chances the Senate votes to kick Trump out of office? Is it like a 1% chance or significantly higher than that?
I truly hope these people's careers are tarnished going forward. It does matter. Why are dems so happy about the impeachment then? Is it just to piss Trump off and attach a black mark to his presidency? Or do some believe he will actually get the boot? There is maybe a 10% chance that a few Senators flip to get 51 yays.
There is 0.0000000000000000001% chance of 20+ senators flipping to reach the removal threshold.
that's the secret, no lives matter to trump but trump lives
