A drifting merchant who goes by the name of Toimaru travels all the land to unreasonably sell his goods and is never seen again after doing so. He seals his true identity with a mask, nobody knowing or learning of who he really is; concealing a past that only he will ever know.
While doing his usual business, Toimaru has a run in with a self-proclaimed goddess known as Mao, who is running from and being hunted by officials, unsure of why due to memory loss.
Given the circumstances, he agrees to help escort her back to her shrine to seek answers as to why she's in such a wanted predicament in the first place; With a price, of course. ​

Centuries ago, deep in the mountains of Japan, there lived a diety known as Hotaroshi; the tiger god. It is believed that his armor, held great powers and would be given to anyone who wore it. Many men travelled far attempting to aquire it. None returned. Then one day, a powerful shogun sent his most powerful samurai to take the armor from the tiger god. They succeeded and defeated Hotaroshi. For years after, the Shogun used the armor's power to command a great army to rule the land. One day, a warrior arrived at the palace gates. Demanding that the armor be returned to the mountain people. The Shogun sent his armies to destroy him. However, each year another came seeking the armor. The Shogun began to notice as people would arrive to spectate the fights. Seeing it as an opportunity to grow his power and wealth, he declared a tournament be held once a year.
This years Tiger Tournament, something foul is afoot. Yin Lee; a powerful sorcerer and worshiper of the serpentine demon; Yotomachi, arrives at the palace to meet the Shogun, under the guise of a diplomat. With the help of Yotomachi's magic, he poisons the mind of the Shogun and commands a contract be made. If the Shogun is killed in the Tiger Tournament, all of his armies and wealth will belong to Yin Lee. Next he hires a group of assassins to compete in the tournament and see that the Shogun's fate is sealed.
Unknown to Yin Lee at the time of that fateful meeting, someone was listening in. Kaida, the only daughter of the Shogun, overheard the entire bout of deception through her fathers chamber door. She runs to tell her lover-in-secret; Yoshimatsu and the two attempt to stop Yin Lee. However, are captured by his spies and sent to the dungeon. They make their escape to the Forest of the Dead, but Yin Lee sends his most skilled assassins to hunt down and kill them. Yoshimatsu falls in the battle but, Kaida slips into the forest.
By the first day of the tournament, Kaida had not been seen. All was looking good for Yin Lee's plans. Then...Kaida returns to the palace overtaken with rage for the death of Yoshimatsu and the deceit of her father. She stands on the great arena, before all, and announces to Yin Lee, he will die for his crimes.

Otaku! is a role-playing game, set in a small remote city of Japan, where the story focuses on how a high school student named Kuwan Otaku, who has the gift to see mysterious entities of light, obtains a power and decides to use it to investigate obscure events surrounding the disappearance of missing students.
The game features a mixture of elements, from Visual Novel to various Rpgs. During battle sequences, the game uses Side Linear Motion Battle System. Damage dealt to the opponent fills a "Tag-Gauge". When this is full, an "X Attack" can be triggered, allowing the player to perform overdrives.
