Aw, it actually says product red on it? oof... I didn't know it had it on there, kinda ruins the aesthetic for me. :(

The lack of things like better notifications or a dark mode just seem baffling at this point and I don't think dumb users or branding can be blamed.Apple could effectively kill the desire to jailbreak by adding a "tweak" section to Xcode.
I suspect, any kind of altering of the the user experience that they want you to have, will never come.
I think it's for two reasons:
1. They want all iPhone to be essentially the same thing as part of their "branding".
2. They are more worried about all of the people who know the bare minimum about using their phone, then they are about people who want to do more. They would rather ignore us instead of maybe confusing them.
The persistent home bar and the CC grabber on the lockscreen with no ability to turn them off tell me otherwise. The lack of things like better notifications or a dark mode just seem baffling at this point and I don't think dumb users or branding can be blamed.
I don't expect many changes in 12 but who knows. I definitely don't expect a lot of the visual design changes, but concept videos sure make you wonder what alt "launchers" in iOS would be like.
Hmm what part of grouped notifications do you think would confuse the average user? The persistent home bar and the CC grabber on the lockscreen with no ability to turn them off tell me otherwise.
I am sure they know the notification center needs a complete overhaul but they haven't done so because they think basic users wouldn't know how to use it properly.
Same with a dark mode. Can you imagine all of the people who accidentally turn it on and then can't figure out how to turn it off? This person is Apple's priority.
You are underestimating how foreign any change would be to the technologically illiterate. Who would be more of a issue for Apple, people like us complaining about outdated features or people who will go to Apple stores and/or contact CS because a new feature is confusing and ruining their experience?Hmm what part of grouped notifications do you think would confuse the average user?
And assuming the dark mode was a toggle inside system settings, you think this would be accidentally found by users and would ruin their experience to the point that Apple would not implement such a thing?
Minor point anyway since I don't know if a dark mode is that important, but I think there's a limit to what technological illiteracy can be used as a valid reason for not doing things.
Welp, the 'halo effect' on the rounded edges/screen protector of the 8 was a dealbreaker for me,so I ended up returning it this afternoon for this bad boy...

We're both just guessing but I can't imagine something like grouped notifications or a dark mode toggle would cause a flood of casual users to complain to Apple. Things in iOS change all the time. Did thousands of grandmas complain when control center or widgets changed? What are those two switches in the top right above the small line?

Notification center indicator. It appears around the first time you use the X but never comes back. What are those two switches in the top right above the small line?
And yet Apple has been able to move past this. Saying "some number of people will have an issue" is different than saying "this will be so disruptive to such a large amount of people that it's better to keep ___ as is." I know the casual userbase is large but I doubt the audience that makes up the absolute lowest level of technological literacy is the focus when thinking of iOS changes.Yes. Control center for sure (if they even know what it is, most of the time they invoke it accidentally) and I have seen dozens of people who never adapted to "swipe to unlock" going away so they swipe on the lock screen then tap on a widget to get the Touch ID screen, log in, then close whatever app they just launched to get to the home screen. I've also probably seen upwards of hundreds of people not even know that there is a Notification Center and have months of banners just sitting there
Ah no wonder.Notification center indicator. It appears around the first time you use the X but never comes back.
As you can see, my custom wallpaper was priority #1, lmao.Notification center indicator. It appears around the first time you use the X but never comes back.
I haven't missed TouchID in months outside of a very small number of situations. Love my X and hate I cracked it. :-/How do you guys like the X? I might end upgrading within two weeks but am completely unsure as to what to get. The thing that's probably holding me back from getting the X instead of 8 is the lack of TouchID. I've grown so used to it.

My biggest fear about getting the X was lack of Touch ID, you won believe me, I wouldn't believe me, but Face ID just works and you won't give a shit about Touch ID inside 1 week.
BUT, and a big but! I have Apple Pay on my Apple Watch. Without that the iPhone X would be a pain.
I got this recommendation from this very thread, so I take no credit for it. Try the "Vellum" app. I read about it here and have been using it, really great wallpapers.
About recommendations, what games to you guys play? I was really addicted to Meteorfall for a while.
I was worried about the loss of Touch ID but I'm not missing it at all. Feels much more convenient for stuff like Apple Pay in store, and for Keychain passwords. Only problem's I've had with it not working are when I'm lying in bed with half my face covered, or when I had a black face mask on. With Touch ID I always had the annoying thing of accidentally unlocking my phone and going to the home screen when I didn't want to and I don't have that problem any more. How do you guys like the X? hmmm ok. i think i might just go for the X then.Using TouchID one-handed on a plus model was awkward and terrible. FaceID is much better for that reason alone. Makes Apple Pay way more natural.

I made it, here ya go:
I'm actually not a fan of Face ID. Touch ID IMO was more reliable and convenient. The reason for that is that Face ID only works for me when I'm directly looking at the screen.
BTW I also think that the 8+ is a great phone and there is no shame in choosing it over the X. We'll get that shit replaced with the new hotness in a few years anyway, don't fool yourselves
I love face id. Touch id worked one evry five times before. Now i can just stare at my phone and unlock it.
I feel like i'm one of the few to which face id works better than touch id.
You guys should experience it without the need to swipe up. It is even better.
Having still an S0, now I'm going to be undecided between one of the cheaper versions of this or finding a deal on my dreamy ceramic white from an older series.
You have to use a real pencil. Make sure it is really sharp and your press really hard.Just tried to use my Apple pen with iphoneX and it don't work. Fuck off. Wtf not?

It doesn't even need charging!I use a dry erase marker and it seems to work fine. Persistent between apps too!
http://iphonexpapers.com/I'm still trying to find a wallpaper that makes the screen stand out. Any recommendations would be great.
