The media investigation tying Mutreb to MBS's inner circle really makes it very hard to cast out stories about 'rogue killers'.

Sky news also quotes a threat heard on the alleged audio recording, targeted at the consul. He apparently said he could have no part in what was going on, and was told to shut up and get out if he didn't want to be killed on his return to SA. Of course he has now returned to SA - I doubt they'll do anything to him now since it would be so obvious, but on the other hand he's a witness to what happened.
Hopefully what he witnessed won't affect him so much he ends up committing suicide by stabbing himself 20 times with a knife.

But they are buying US weapons for billions of dollars. These weapons were made by American workers. You all want Americans to lose their jobs?

Here's what will happen.

A fake investigation will be concluded with some SA officials set up as the 'rogue killers'. These scapegoats will have an SA show trial and go to prison (quietly released weeks later, and kept in the lap of luxury while there).

Turkey will accept this. They will not release the tape. If it is somehow inadvertently released, they will call it fake. They will do this because KSA will give them many hundreds of millions of dollars in oil and cheap loans to do so.

The US administration will gleefully accept this narrative and all goes back to as it was before. The weapons sale goes through. The gas price doesn't rocket.

The rest of the West, bar some grumbling in some quarters, and a few harsh questions at the UN, will hold their noses and accept it as the price of doing business, and business is good.

The world limps on. The attention of the West swings onto the US mid-terms.

Jamal Kashoggi's partner lives with the awful knowledge that her man was horrifically tortured to death, and that the world took a bribe to look the other way.

So I just heard on the news here, that Saudi media is reporting that the consul was fired, and is being investigated, though for what is unspecified.

Here's what will happen.

I'm not sure the media would accept this and let it go. Even Fox News commentators weren't buying the 'rogue killer' story.

This is another vulnerable spot in Jabba's corpulent underbelly; reporters need to be HAMMERING that weakness to his face much more forcefully.

There's a reason they put Pompeo in this role.

Trump supporters are supposedly against radical Islam.

But Agent Orange being owned by these people is OK.

It's funny right? From sunup to sundown, its lyin' lyin' lyin' to ones' self.

But then you realize he's exacerbating it with his own ever-more desperate delusions.

Oh I see. I thought Turkish economy relies a lot on KSA. Didn't realize Turkey was closer to Qatar and Yemen.

So this is something Erdogan would permit?, it's not just some Turkish intelligence officers with a conscience?

I thought Trump and Erdogan were on the same side.

They're all transactional snakes. Everyone goes under the bus for a price. And every one of them will line up next to them after seeing the last snake go under the wheels.

This is why they attack the rule of law and journalism: so they can still be percieved reliable and safe enough to still lead after this.

How can the President of the United States not know what rights and protections are afforded to legal permanent residents?

In Landon v. Plasencia, 459 U.S. 21, 32 (1982), the U.S. Supreme Court reminded the U.S. Attorney General that "once an alien gains admission to our country and begins to develop the ties that go with permanent residence, his constitutional status changes accordingly."
Congress has long warned every government employee by stating the following:

Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or to different punishments, pains, or penalties, on account of such person being an alien, or by reason of his color, or race, than are prescribed for the punishment of citizens, shall be subject to specified criminal penalties.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawful_permanent_residents_(United_States)

A lawful permanent resident has damn near many of the same protections as a citizen (as they are on the path to full citizenship themselves).

Here is the final column from Mr. Khashoggi, written just before he was murdered.

Whether Mr. Khashoggi was killed before his fingers were removed and his body dismembered could not be determined.

But the consul was present and objected, the official said. "Do this outside. You will put me in trouble," Mr. Otaibi told the agents, according to the Turkish official and a report in the Turkish newspaper Yeni Safak. Both cited audio recordings said to have been obtained by Turkish intelligence.

"If you want to live when you come back to Arabia, shut up," one of the agents replied, according to both the official and the newspaper.

Jesus Christ. A bunch of sadistic neo-barbarians.

He probably doesn't understand it. But at the end of the day all this is code for:

"C'mon guys it's not like he was a white person. Why are you making such a big deal about this?"

Let's get this straight - even if the victim was white, even if he was a citizen, Trump would play this down. The Saudis helped make him rich and he isn't wrong about the blood money the US gets from them.

The fact that the Saudis literally have an elite team that specialise in vivisection is some mind melting shit.

Did we slip into the 40k universe when I wasn't looking?
What is this world?

Way too much money they'd be giving up, zero chance Vince pulls out

When did WWE have a moral conscience? Stephanie McMahon publicly admitted that charity was the modern marketing strategy they'll be using

this is new thread worthy to me, came out just a few hours ago.

Khashoggi said:
The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events. More important, we need to provide a platform for Arab voices. We suffer from poverty, mismanagement and poor education. Through the creation of an independent international forum, isolated from the influence of nationalist governments spreading hate through propaganda, ordinary people in the Arab world would be able to address the structural problems their societies face.

so, wonder why they thought they should fuckin torture and kill this guy

Why was it done in this manner though if this is true?

They knew they'd be caught, so is sending a message to any other free speech advocates the goal?

Did the killers know that they'd get captured on CCTV etc and did they not give a shit or did they just do a shit job at appearing incognito?

I know that in the era of Trump etc certain countries are pushing boundaries but c'mon, what did they think would happen when Jamal walked into the building and didn't come back out? Even if Trump didn't give a shit, the press and everyone else (almost everyone) certainly fucking would.

Barbaric and sickening. Just awful.

True. After i got some sleep i woke up with this horrific crime in mind.

These are the things you dont want to read and probably wouldnt without internet but its very important for the people to know whats going on in this world. I dont know how the consequences will be (difficult to estimate), as goverments surely have to make a statement for their people how involved they are business wise with this regime and how they will plan to do in the future. This maybe is, beside its cruelty and unsrucupulously acting, a big diplomatical disaster and there have been less reasons to start a crisis/war.

My solidarity goes to Jamal Khashoggi's family and all journalists in the world who try to enlighten us, often in very dangerous circumstances. Keep up the good fight, now more than ever with this fake news epidemic all over the world.

I mean pretty much.

Is anyone going to stand up to SA?

What if petrol/gas at the pump was marked where it came from (obviously that would be impossible considering barrels would be mixed enroute to the customer) - then consumers would have a choice in not buying products from SA. That's ultimately the only way regular people can send a message.

I don't know if this came.up.

From the independent article:

A Saudi Arabian journalist and commentator has been banned by his country for criticising US President-elect Donald Trump.

Jamal Khashoggi has been banned from writing in newspapers, making TV appearances and attending conferences, Middle East Eye reports.

After Mr Khashoggi criticised Mr Trump's Middle East policies at a Washington think-tank on 10 November, an official Saudi spokesman said he did not represent the Kingdom in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency.

If only our government would lead us towards energy independence so that sure we might have to swallow this pill today we could avoid it in the future. But no, let's scrap forcing auto makers to improve.

They exactly thought so. They seem to have counted on their good relations with Erdogan and his close circle, but they have forgotten that Turkish secret service only answers to army and Turkish Army considers KSA as a threat to national security. They expected Erdogan to cover up everything as if nothing happaned but it seems they didn't know that their consulate is one of most surveiled consulates in Turkey. Place is bugged and MIT (secret service) continuously monitor their activity.
Or they wanted this to be a demo to the rest of the world of their power over the us.

Because an ally is brutally murdering legal residents, who also happened to be prolific journalists writing for a major newspaper? That doesn't seem like fucked up thing to you? I guess no one can blame US citizens after two years of Trump to be numb to this kind of shit, but to the rest of the world, yeah, this doesn't paint the Saudis, or the US, in the best light.

I hope the one thing to come out of this tragedy is that no one will claim that MBS is a great liberal reformer. He's a murderous dictator, whose only interest in reforming the kingdom is to have a functioning kingdom to rule. He'll kill and maim everyone he thinks is a hindrance to him.

Permanent US resident who writes for the Washington post is brutally tortured and murdered at an embassy?

3 days is not long enough for this unsensitive asshat

I meant this will not matter to the Trump administration or to the GOP and that all arms deals in place will not be jeapordized. In addition, a lot of people in this country (read Republicans) will not care or call fake news.
