Sucker Punch could be making more than just GoT?
"I'm hopeful that we'll see something from Sucker Punch that is causing Ghost of Tsushima 2 to take a little big longer than we were expecting and my hope is something with Sly Cooper. [It is] not confirmed, nothing like that, but that's speculation. But [there is] definitely smoke out there. Maybe where there's smoke there's fire. Hopefully, we'll find out."

This comes as a surprise since Sucker Punch said in 2022 that there are currently "no plans to revisit inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper right now".

PS Showcase soon with PS5 Pro Reveal?
"I still think the [PlayStation] May Showcase is happening," Jeff said. "I think it's a Showcase still, [but it] could be a State of Play."

"I think we can probably expect to see news about the PS5 Pro now. They've done that sort of a mid-gen refresh in a Showcase before if I'm remembering correctly. I think that's how they did the [announcement for] PS4 Pro."

He mentions "speculation" after he talked about it.

Fact check, Sony announced the PS4 Pro at a press event in New York City on September 7, 2016.The PS4 standard was announced at a press conference on February 20, 2013, three years apart.

Dreadwolf to be at SGF?
Dragon Age Dreadwolf "will be [shown] at the Summer Game Fest or around that time", Jeff said. "[It] still sounds like that game is coming out later this year."

"They're pretty pleased with how it turned out," Jeff said. "The plan is to launch that this calendar year. So, not EA's fiscal year, not before March 2025 or anything like that."

He mentions how everyone seems really happy with the game.

He further mentioned a short timeframe between the game getting announced and players being able to actually play it. He said, "I don't think you're going to have to wait too long after this thing gets announced to play, but we'll see."

Perfect Dark and Summer Game Mess update

I gotta admit, if Sucker Punch themselves said they have no plans then I am more willing to take their word for it. Never say never though, I suppose.

I'm not against it because I like Sly Cooper but I'd be surprised.

This is not happening. Like I said in the other thread, Sucker Punch is not putting the development and growth of their AAA franchise on hold to make a sequel to a dead PS2 cartoon puzzle platformer.

It's been 4 years. That seems like a normal length of time for a new AAA open world game anyway, especially if they do the multiplayer again. I doubt there's some other project.

Sucker Punch isn't making a new sly cooper, lmfao. Current PlayStation wouldn't allow it.

Now, I do think it's possible we see a Sly Cooper from a studio like Sumo after they did Sackboy. Orrrr maybe the Astrobot game's premise is "play as Astro as he goes back into the worlds of PlayStation past." With Sly being one of them.

I would not expect Sony to greenlight Sly Cooper of all things if that had any chance whatsoever to delay Ghost of Tsushima 2 even a little bit.

Uhm makes zero sense. I am sure with the succeed they had with Ghost, their first priority is a sequel to that.

Also I'd rather see Infamous than Sly Cooper

We often get platformers for console launches, so... Maybe Sly Cooper for PS5 Pro to show off some nice "Pixar-style" graphics?

"Taking longer than we expected"

Sucker Punch hasn't even hit the 4 year mark yet….

Never mind the fact that they are one of the smaller studios among PS Studios.

Interesting. Two years ago Nick from Xbox Era said there is new Sly game in development. Still won't believe until we hear anything official.
We did hear something official. It was that they aren't making and new Sly and have no plans to. Would really not get hopes high for this. Maybe someone else, but Sucker Punch doing a new Sly would be extremely surprising.

That would be a dream.

I think it's time we go back to the colorful franchises of back in the day.

Rift Apart was fantastic and I can't even begin to imagine a modern Sly game with all the advances in technology since Sly 3.

Give it to me Sony.

If you watch this part of the video, it really just feels like Grubb throwing shit at the wall for something he hopes will happen.

Never having interest in sly cooper I would hope they were full steam ahead on ghosts instead of a mascot game.

I mean, I'd love it, but Occam's razor says Ghost of Tsushima 2 is taking a long time to develop because... modern games take a long time to develop.

I mentioned it in the PS Studios thread, but i'd guess that what causing it to take longer is simply that it's a much more ambitious game than the original. That game is very simple for an open world game when you look at it's individual parts. And given it's level of success they're obviously going to be able to build it out a lot more than they could with the first one.

This is barely anything. Not a rumor, not a leak, just an assumption being called speculation.

That said, Sly is good shit and probably aged better than the other PS2 mascot platformers. Hell, you can still feel the Sly influence in Infamous 1.

Never played a Sly Cooper game myself but I don't really see the series brought up all that much outside of here really.

I wish, but I doubt it. Nothing against Sanzaru Games but their Sly game for me was definitely lacking compared to SP's, so if it were true, I'd be ecstatic. But again, I doubt it's true in the first place.

Grubb literary says he's speculating about a new Sly game being the reason why Ghost of Tsushima 2 is taking so long. What is this thread? Lol

AAA open world game development takes time. Especially for a smallish studio Sucker Punch. I don't believe they would develop 2 games at the same time (well, apart from having an online mode for Ghost sequel).

If anything I imagine an expanded Legends mode or some sort of co op mode is what would be making things take more time rather than a sly game. If there even is anything making it take more time outside of standard AAA open world development

i like grubb but this is just a personal hope and he doesn't assign anything more to it than just a hope. thats fine to say but don't put it on the same tiers of the other things he said in the video.

Ghost of Tsushima 2 is only taking about as long to release as the sequels to Death Stranding or Horizon Zero Dawn.

Does he not pay attention to how long games take to develop nowadays?

Sucker Punch always maintained they are a one game studio with like 150+ Devs.

Ghost of Tsushima 2 taking longer in development could simply be that it's more ambitious than the first one while maybe they want Legends mode to be available at launch this time around.

I don't even think the game is taking longer than usual.

4-5 years of dev feels like the norm for these types of games nowadays, and this one had a pandemic in its pre-production stage which certainly delayed things to some extent.

Looking at the comments above he's just speculating so this seems like a nothingburger.
