Yeh, I'd take something like this. Finn deserved better than he got in all three films and John is great in the role.
So something I just found out is while the article is from today, the video is much older. Originally I thought it was post his GQ interview but it actually came out in May 2020.

JJ is busy, and something like a TV production, JJ would be producer at best probably.

I don't get why people keep raising an eyebrow at JJ. It's clear they liked working with him in their day to day. That's more important than how the narrative turned out for an actor.

Not surprising. Rian Johnson is the one who screwed his character over. Although JJ didn't do much to restore him in the final movie.
Nah Star Trek 2009 and TFA were both critically and financially hugely succesful.
This is objective.
A thing being popular is not a gauge of quality.
Critics are not infallible.
I like both films well enough, but we could do a LOT better than TFA as a start to a SW franchise.
