There should be a way for people to work safely in the sex industry without having to worry about being abused/trafficed etc.
State and the federal government have to decriminalize sex workers for that to work (and even then, it must be done right). Otherwise, the result is going to be these sex trafficking rings, rapes, murders, assaults, and so on.

Bunch of finance big wigs already name dropped as being charged. If you aren't in the industry you wouldn't know them but they are well known.

I am just surprised that there is no higher penalty for soliciting someone who is trafficked. Like all the men here really arent going to learn their lesson. The NFL will probably come down harder on him for this than the State. I have seen police come down harder on women for being victims.

I am hoping there are some states that make it a higher crime for soliciting someone who is a sex slave. I checked PA and NJ and its all mostly misdemeanors.

Like its modern day slavery. Thats highly illegal in most of the world.

I'm all for decriminalization, but it stopping trafficking and abuse is a big no. It just doesn't.

Its hard to prove they explicitly knew the women were in a sex traffic ring.

Although if all these big names are going to the same place, then its obvious they knew to an extent that logical conclusions could be drawn from anyone with a brain

But again, thats hard to prove in court

When you're a billionaire, you can afford the high end sex workers that have an office and a personal assistant. Going to this kind of establishment means you at least want that uncertainty of whether the woman is there of her own volition

Of course it won't stop it outright, but people who would have otherwise said nothing due to possibly being charged by police will likely step forward. There is no denying it makes it easier for victims to seek justice.

I can kind of understand that its hard to prove. In Florida and some other states, there is a law saying that if you do sleep with someone underage, even though they said they were 18+, its still a crime. Its not a defense in court. I wonder if the same rule should be applied. I mean its slavery.

EDIT: Also the other men caught were rich as well? They knew each other? Jeeze.

If he was a player they'd bury him. Make him sell.
Which alternative universe are you living in? The NFL has had wife beaters, thieves, murderers, rapists and drug dealers on their teams among other types of criminal. The NFL as a whole is completely corrupt and awful, which makes their treatment of Kaep all the more pathetic.

It's a clique for rapists. This is locker room talk for them and I bet they compare notes as well as make recommendations.

Our justice system is misogynist. Johns will always get off more lightly. I mean fucking rapists that have clear proof against them get off easy.

I only know Jupiter FL because a ton of prominent golfers live there (Tiger, Greg Norman, Ricky Fowler, Dustin Johnson, etc) so I assume its quite the nice area / plenty of celebs have homes there.

It doesn't but if it was decriminalized then you would have two outfits. The legal and those illegal so the can cops can just focus on the illegal. It would make it easier to focus resources on those being trafficked and prayed upon.

Lots of golfers and tennis players live there. The Williams Sister's live there. It's also where all the executives for Florida's electricity company live / work. Really nice place with a bunch of rich people.

Ok I've given this a lot of thought. The absolute best case scenario for the universe is:

- Trump is forced to resign to avoid impeachment/criminal charges
- Meanwhile more sordid and/or illegal details re: Bob Kraft start to emerge
- Kraft is eventually forced to sell the Pats just like the Panthers owner a few yrs back
- Kraft sells the Pats to Trump, who becomes this generation's Dan Snyder

I don't think Trump is wealthy enough to afford the Patriots. They have to be worth several billion. Even being generous, that would probably be twice his net worth.

So is it common knowledge that massage parlours engage in sex trafficking? Personally speaking, I assumed there was prostitution going and "Happy endings" are known in the mainstream. I wasn't aware of the human and sex trafficking aspect until I did immigration law.

I had never heard of this Kraft dude until now. Apparently his wife died of cancer years ago. He complained of being lonely and started dating a chick 40 years his junior. This chick had someone else's baby whilst still in a happy relationship with Kraft. He now looks after her and the baby. Personally I don't think I'd be paying for sex if I was a billionaire.

Ok so this combined helped me make sense of why kraft was in a place called Jupiter Florida and what social/economic status the other people charged will likely be. Kraft has built up this image of being a "good guy" among the NFL owners but we all now know that was a lie.

With that said I am going to say it, Kudos to law enforcement for following through on this. I am a believer that law enforcement has the prerogative to turn a blind eye to crimes like this (and most crimes in general) by these millionaires and billionaires because of the tax bracket and power that the perpetrators have.

I can understand why prostitution was a crime back in the 70's and 80's when dna testing and understanding of stds were basically nonexistent. In 2019 the fact we don't have a legal prostitution industry is kinda baffling. If we can have a stable, regulated porn industry why can't we have a stable, regulated prostitution industry?

The human trafficking would be an issue either way, especially if the victims are minors. Even if prostitution became a legal, regulated industry you'd still have to deal with the actual criminals and those who attempted to skirt the rules.

The parlor where this unfolded is literally down the street where I live, near Harborside and across the street from the pier and sushi bar.

Oh my god.

Billions, billions! The only explanation I have is they get off on having sex with the powerless with no other options and probably humiliate and abuse them during encounters. I'm sure there are high profile escort services that have Asian sex workers but those women would have more autonomy, and misbehaving johns would be cutoff.

What? that was never the reason why it was illegal.

It's illegal because they can't tax it....

Also there is more to this story than just some old men getting a little happy ending.

Like I said earlier, maybe he gets off on raping Asian women cause he's a fucking rapist.

Asking because I genuinely don't know; are the customers for the lack of a better term able to tell if workers are trafficked at these places? I'm asking because if they are, this should be a felony offense no? Like, if I hired a slave to mow my grass that would be some dark shit.
I'd say they are almost certainly aware as soon as they find out what goes on there. Of course proving that in a court is another matter entirely. And there're some that will concoct some fantasy/lie in their head to not deal with the reality of what they're doing.

It's a class 1 misdemeanor in my state (which like certain heinous felonies, judges tend to throw the book at you here for solicitation). Anyone know how severe a misdemeanor it is in his state?
