So was the company sold? CEO on wiki is also showing as the owner, or has the owner just stepped back from day to day running?

It's noteworthy that AnimEigo was just gearing up to announce a new license and then had to hold off on announcing it for unspecified reasons. After having licensed Bubblegum Crisis, Megazone 23 and MADOX, it's possible they had another AIC license in the works that had to be postponed while this new CEO was installed.
Japanese Wiki is more up-to-date and lists Inoue as the Representative Director:

I remember seeing something about this...something about him getting loans from other Rider alumni to buy it and not paying them back.
Maybe. The article was in broken English so hard to understand.Wasn't it the other way around? Kimito Totani owed him money and Inoue publicly called him out for not paying him back (kinda a dick move there I suppose)?
Are you talking about Tenchi in Tokyo?
The original OVA, the blu ray is stupid overpriced for the American release.
Wait, that's how these shows look like now? That's really cool, does it stream anywhere?

That's (mostly) Tenchi Universe, isn't it? 'Cause I'm down for more of that.

Well...IIRC, that element is still there since Tenchi is still part of the Royal bloodline, but yes, if my memory serves that aspect was dramatically downplayed in Universe vs the later parts of Muyo.
