KH will always be a punching bag for random people's hot takes.
Thankfully sites like IGN got someone who actually knows what they're talking about. Before then it was 'Eraqueez' this and 'Roxas is the worst character' that (though an article from 2012 title "
Kingdom Hearts Sucks (But It Doesn't Have To)" has them saying Ventus is a less likeable character than Roxas) and they would laugh at fans who defended the franchise.
KH has its issues, yeah, but I feel that a lot of the people who bash it don't care to follow the franchise at all and just throw a certain mindset around. We still have people
saying KH3 will come out in 10 years time or those who think there will be 'another' delay even though we've never gotten a release date and therefore haven't had a proper delay (the only one was the engine swap but that happened early on in dev and they seem to have really pushed through on UE4 since then).
The collections may not be on Xbox One or Switch, and would only be considered after 3 releases, but Square has done a good job getting the games onto one system so people can catch up with the story and understand some of what is going on. At this point I feel like it's only worth listening to those who are confused with the plot if they've actually played the previous games. The others just don't seem to care to even read a wiki article or something.
