Today, the user says that there will be a new Nintendo Direct this week and games including a new 2D Mario and a remake of a SNES classic will be announced in the Direct.

God damn, finally. Let this new 2D Mario be something different instead of more NSMB. Completely change up the art style, introduce some cool mechanics, levels and we're golden.

Ohhhh a new 2D Mario would be great… although I hope it ditches the New Super Mario art style. Never looked great to me.

Hope they go in a new direction with it.

Wonder Project J remake? Would be interesting and not too farfetched given that they remade Famicom Detective Club (even if Mages closed shortly after)

I live in a giant bucket.
New 2D Mario would be a much-appreciated surprise. (Just no NSMB, please -- I respect their craft, but that brand's been saturated enough. Time for something new.)

My money's on the oft-rumored Genealogy of the Holy War for the SNES remake.

No more NSMB. If they release NSMB switch-/ I'd be highly disappointed.

SNES remake could be what:
Super Metroid?
Mario RPG?
Earthbound?
DK Country?
Link to the Past?
Fire emblem?

2D Mario is expected even if not particularly interesting for me. I do hope they move away from the NSMB style.

As long as it doesn't look like NSMB then I'd be up for a new 2D game. I'm ready for them to move on.

Interesting, we've heard of that new 2.5D Donkey Kong for a while now but a 2D Mario coming first is surprising.
Unless it's a Mario + Donkey Kong game :)

Did they actually call Everybody's 1 2 Switch when it mattered? People have been talking about it for over a year, after all.

Edit: the first tweet didn't load. Getting the actual announcement timing right is pretty good (if it's not one of those "let's delete everything wrong" accounts)

Wondering what the SNES remake is. If "SNES" includes SFC then maybe it's time for the Genealogy remake to be revealed, struggling to think what other SNES remake could be lined up.

Maybe we get another left-field remake like ActRaiser?

2D Mario in the year of the movie and with the Switch's install base being what it is is going to do gangbusters.

I love the 3d Mario games, but it's about time we get a 2d one. Hopefully it's not one that's just using the "New" style.

I mean, it is. If Nintendo is waiting until later in 2024 to release the Switch 2, they need at least one more big seller for the holiday season. After that, they can coast until the successor.

Also, the SNES remake is almost certainly FE Genealogy.
