So there always a chance the body rejects the new face and hands? Even this far down the road?

I'm happy for this young guy to get another chance to live ! Incredible work.

I wonder if his face is still just really swollen from the surgery in the after picture.

yes, in the video there is a physician talking to him who mentions there is still swelling that will go down and they will likely do some further revisions surgically. So it will only look better with time. This is pretty amazing stuff. Kudos to that team.

this is awe-inspiring, wow. i hope it works out long term, and his immune system accepts the new tissue etc.

also love that a normal working dude can get this level of help, not just rich folk. his months long (jesus..) induced coma treatment alone must have been really expensive.

I never thought about it, but how does finger printing work? Do the prints of the person who donated the hands (the deceased) get overwritten by the new person in official docs?
