That's funny I've been pretty impressed with how consistently close my matches have been. I get a few stomps here and there but so far matchmaking has been miles better than anything I saw in Overwatch.
They're an ex-Overwatch pro (it may have been a different name, I've been looking at a screen all day between work and trying to get a code), but yeah from what I recall you were on offense on escort and the team was struggling hardI don't know who that is I've on a streak of terrible random queues sadly.
This game is brutal I go from great matches to two dudes refusing to play their roles and we get perma gang banged. =(
Ran into Beardlini and it was a bad match too the Wanda had 3 kills total, we gotta play again.
And I'm literally playing Healer or Tank to let others play their DPS but yeah ...
They gotta get Wolverine out ASAP so that tanks are more lively lol. And Magneto a solo shield if not aimed at allies + 97 skin.
Yeah, but I don't think the audience these modern entries go for are the sort that care to engage with the format without forcing it. OW had to lock the roles down and it's odd they didn't already do it here unless they were paying zero attention to what happened across the street.
It's more like they believe that 'what happened across the street' wasn't necessary. It feels like they've very intentionally recreating the format of launch Overwatch. Open queue. 6v6. Five tanks. Four supports. Majority of characters DPS. Control, Escort, and Hybrid all recreated.
There's obviously plenty of differences, like the third person perspective, the Team-Up gimmick, the destructible environments. But in a lot of ways they've built the game that bitter ex-Overwatch fans say they want. It's an interesting experiment.
Okay, yeah this Frank Castle fella seems kinda cracked. I've been spending most of my time trying to figure out how to get decent with Wanda, Magik and Luna because I like those characters a lot outside the game, but in the spirit of trying to play as everyone I can in the Alpha I gave Punisher a whirl and goddamn.
What's wrong with that? That was my assumption all along.
I really want to play this. Will this release on consoles day 1 as well?
Some things I've learned in the practice range.
- Hulk can cling to walls if you hold jump before reaching a wall that you jumped to. Probably an essential part of his kit since there's so much flying and movement. Also makes it harder for enemies to laser him down before the engage
- I understand why no one is playing Peni, this is a character you take into the practice range for a week and then reappear with tech that no one has seen lol I kinda love it
Have a feeling Vanguard will be my role of choice, but we shall see!
We're gonna see some god-like Hulks doing exactly this regularly, and I'm absolutely here for it.The best thing about Hullk is that he can clothesline flyers right out the fucking air and it's so satisfying.
Based on the cooldown, I feel like that Magento shield is intended to be less of a normal shield and more of a get-out-of-jail-free ability, which is definitely confusing.I have been playing as Magneto a lot. Sometimes it clicks, but sometimes he just feels way too weak. His attack speed needs to be faster I think. And his ult needs to do way more damage. His shield is also pretty useless. It doesn't last long enough and the cooldown is weirdly high for what it is.
Mags is actually fantastic with Tanks like Hulk and Groot from what I've seen. Anyone that can frontline and keep the heat off of him so he can poke and get the most out of his cooldowns. He does a ton of damage as well it's just hard to land. He's also decent at peeling but not as good as some of the other Tanks.I have been playing as Magneto a lot. On the competitive side, I somehow won 5 games in a row with randoms tonight. Made it to silver 2. Hopefully I can get to gold before the end of the test for silver. I was able to join a faction that is entering the tournament, but I put as a backup player.
It's fun getting matched up with one person who is just god tier at one character to see how they play. I was with a spider-man earlier who was destroying the entire enemy team and they couldn't do anything. he was so fast swinging around. Then the next match I was with a hulk who would just go charging in every time and somehow not die. Jumping around constantly and stuff.
I think basically all of the characters that have been determined to be weak are somewhat complex and/or require a decent amount of practice. Maybe not Namor though, his kit seems very straightforward...
I can see that. I mean, I actually don't like the feel of most of the DPS characters, but I do actually like him, so I'm hoping he's somewhat viable, but he strikes me as a very slow, defensive character in a game where everyone either does high damage or is flying at you at the speed of light 😅Namor isn't even weak per se, but he's meant for a poke comp that tries to poke for kills and then wombo combo ultimates and doesn't really slot in nicely with any other comp. If you're doing something more organized, he's REALLY good for poke comp. For solo play where everyone is fuck it we balling...yea.....
Huh, the MVP intro needing a skin in the case of Spider-Man is weird. Hope they walk that back, but it might be a weird Marvel control thing that only Spider Punk may rock out.
It almost assuredly is, just an unfortunate but expected downside of a licensed property, especially one that is not just Marvel now but also Disney. They are super controlling of their brands. We could never have visual gear in Marvel Heroes or Marvel's Avengers (just skins) because they absolutely refused to allow the characters to look any different other than the signed off looks.
So I take it the game doesn't have AFK kicking?
But brother, I tried
I don't see how anyone can call him overpowered, his pump-gun isn't too bad but his normal rifle is just miserable to use.
I think they need to change the way air dashing works on characters like Rocket. To work more omnidirectional. If I'm holding down while pressing dash I want Rocket to dash backwards, not forward. Just feels more natural than 180ing and dashing away.
He feels OP to me. I use assault rifle most of the time and I come out of matches disappointed if I don't have the most kills by at least 10. Gotta aim for the head.
But I'm the complete opposite of you with healing. I don't get enough feedback as a healer in this game like I do OW so I don't really want to do it.
Nah Punisher is probably the best DPS. Basically deletes flyers with less effort than any other character. And his shotgun is just nasty. Directly counters magik, and if you have a Magneto paying attention the bubbles make him invincible while he gets in close.Playing healers is fun and cool but I just can't f'n find any fun in playing the attackers here. Playing Reaper or Soldier in Overwatch is easy and fun, but here playing something similar in Punisher is..... punishing. It is awful. His normal rifle feels like absolute garbage, sprays all over the place and doesn't do damage to anyone, if you have guys like Scarlet Witch and Dr. Strange as enemies they fly to you, laugh in your face and snap you dead like they're Thanos. His smoke is like 1 and a half second and feels useless too.

Yeah, that was the issue I was having with Hela as well. Let me retreat dammit.

Maybe it's because I'm playing on controller and the controls are currently just bad and inaccurate for it then. Cause the controller assistance is on max I think, which is standard, but there simply is none, none that I could feel at least. So aiming for the head is terribly difficult here. :D
Punisher is definitely a beast. Only thing that needs fixing is his zip line. His primary has been great for picking off flying characters.
Competitive shooter for suredoes this game feel like a competitive shooter or is it more like a 3d brawler game?
My biggest area of frustration is Spider-Man having an incredibly high skill floor and being the most popular Super Hero. 90% of matches if you have a Spider-Man on the team that's a loss. The sheer dread of loading in and your team mate insta-locking Spidey is something else.
God that zipline. The amount of times I just jump into a wall…..
It won't fix everything because his zipline is just buggy, but highly recommend going to Controls -> select Punisher in the top left -> change the sensitivity of the Zipline so that it actually just goes where you aim at.
(Likewise if anyone wants to actually get good at Spider-Man, disable automatic web slinging in a similar way and prepare to learn something harder than Spider-Man 2's web slinging)
Well now i need a code :(
Well now i need a code :(
Overwatch is still my shooter of choice after all this time and a large part of that is the heroes/light heartedness
Now it hopefully has meaningful competition
definitely hope to see it include role queue, I worry the fanbase will be toxic, Overwatch has a lot in place to curb toxic players at least on PC

I think Punisher could use a nerf, but to compensate they allow everyone on the team to use his zip line (yes this would make Majik busted but as someone who loves Majik it works out 😏). And I know it's alpha but my word that zip line is janky.
Lol. Figured. But with the superhero theme i expect to see a lot younger and diverse audience get into this game.
Yeh basically gotta bully the fuck outa them when they are at least decentCompetitive shooter for sure
I was against a really good Spider harassing the supports. Had to basically stick with them with the Punisher shotgun and delete him until they changed.
But yeah, the bad ones are so squishy that it is just having an AFK person on the team almost.
I really haven't had an issue with screen real estate, although I feel fov should be larger. I don't think there's an fov slider in the game.My main concern (and someone who has played, please let me know) is that your character seems to take up a lot of the screen. There are clips where the player is jumping and covers the aiming reticle. I understand why they made it 3rd person (gotta sell those skins, and people buy cooler skins if they can see them), but does it hurt the gameplay at all?
