Tornado touch down here in Topeka. I saw what I believe was the funnel
Numerous severe thunderstorms are expected to develop and move eastward Monday afternoon through Monday night across parts of the southern/central Plains. Multiple intense, long-track tornadoes, very large to giant hail, and severe/damaging winds all appear likely.
A Major Severe Weather Outbreak is Forecast Today and/or Tonight
A regional outbreak of severe weather with multiple strong, long-tracked tornadoes, as well as very large hail and severe thunderstorm gusts, is expected over parts of the south-central Plains from this afternoon through evening
It's the first high risk issued for the southern Plains and Oklahoma since May 20, 2019. Kansas has not seen a high risk issued since May 18, 2017.
Kind of a random question, but has anything ever been hypothesized or or discussed for interrupting such insane tornado outbreaks? Guessing that's completely beyond our capabilities. Mother nature is an unstoppable beast. I literally couldn't live in these areas as the stress over my family/kids being safe would drive me away.
Anyway, sorry for the derail. Stay safe.
The only large storm that was ever stopped was due to the large volcano eruption [mount Pinatubo in 1991 vs approaching typhoon].
