So PS4 gonna be that sub20k life except for holidays and KH3/RE2 week this year ?

Good hold on Switch HW, already up 100k over last year, which is significant since last Q1 MC had Switch at 684k as of april 1.

NSMBU debuted good, but the real sales for that are gonna come from legs right ?

Tales of did ok? They got the PS3 version, so its less new for them than for the west.
Wonder when the Switch SKu will outlegg ps4.

NSMBU launched higher than expected. Great numbers for that one. The rest is pretty much as expected, Switch drop is fine while PS4's drop is predictably super harsh.

Those are some great numbers for Mario.
Expected the drop of PS4 to 20k, but didn't expect the soft drop of hte Switch. So maybe it will plateau at 60k?
Fitness Boxing going up in the ranks. I hope it reaches 50k.

Switch dropoff wasn't too bad. PS4 fell of a cliff but that was to be expected with post holiday and the bundle promotion ending though.

Switch started out 50% higher YTD, and will probably maintain that difference for a good while, if not all year. Probably higher once Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem are out by Summer, and good lord when Pokemon and DQXI hit it. We might get the first 6mil year in Japan since 2012 3DS.

Did the 3ds even hit 6M in 2012? I remember it being 5.5M, correct me if I'm wrong.

I wonder what will the Switch 'base' be this year. Last year it hovered around 40k for many months, maybe we will have something closer to 60k now.

The sleeper hit no one expected. It seems that game rose in sales which would be pretty amazing for Week 2.

Actually, if we use Dengeki sales as reference, it probably saw a WOW drop, sales-wise. However, it should be much smaller than most of the other games.

Still, its sales trajectory is very interesting and incredibly unusual (Media Create)

First week - outside of Top 50
Second week - 35th
Third week - 25th
Fourth week - 20th

It'll be interesting to see how long it might keep on selling

These Wii U ports must be so lucrative for Nintendo. I suspect everything that didn't use the wiipad extensively will get one.

Watch out, the 1-2-3-4 punch combo of Super Mario Party, Pokemon Let's Go, Smash Ultimate, and NSMBUD is going to carry the Switch through Q1 2019 with very strong numbers.

That lineup is absolutely killer for Nintendo.

I didn't expect holiday numbers to be kept I simply acknowledged the huge drops all round. I'm not the first or the only one to do that so I'm not sure why you singled out my post.
.

The Switch hold is far more impressive and portends a healthy quarter. The PS4 drop, though predictable, is not good.

I knew it would happen but I hoped it wouldn't.
We are just pointing out that the Switch didn't actually have a huge drop, contextually.

Dengeki had the game at 4,718 / 9,296 in Week 1. So yeah, it might have dropped but still impressive.

Much better but they were new games. NSMB DS and Wii are the 3rd and 10th best-selling games ever in Japan:

NDS New Super Mario Bros. - 865.024 / 6.428.457
WII New Super Mario Bros. Wii - 936.734 / 4.584.787
3DS New Super Mario Bros. 2 - 430.185 / 2.598.039
WIU New Super Mario Bros. U - 170.563 / 1.260.178

Famitsu numbers from https://sites.google.com/site/gamedatalibrary/game-search
media create first week numbers
nsmb-899,518
nsmbwii-934,739
nsmb2-407,503
luigi u-24,881

Thank you for your answer. Will be interesting if it can beat NSMB2 in the long run.

This YTD 135,483
That won't last with the MHW bump coming for the PS4 at the end of last January. KH3 and RE2 should stem it a bit, but it will be down significantly. That is also partially from having a really good price deal/bundle end in Week 1, 2019 that wasn't there the previous year.

Much better numbers for NSMBU than I expected. Every week these numbers are put out I want to know digital so badly. I bought the game digitally, its just one of those titles I'd want on my system but don't want to have to swap cards for so it makes me wonder how many people think the same way. HW drops weren't too bad either.

PS4 is also just old and a decline is just going to happen regardless especially at its current price.

Is it possible for switch to have a 1M Q4? This means a 66k/wk avg excluding week 1. I hope it manages a 60k/wk avg though.

Media Create might be adjusting up their Switch hardware numbers after lower holiday sales compared to other trackers.
We'll see what Famitsu shows this week.

This week was probably boosted a bit by NSMBUDX, so the baseline will likely go down. I think 66k is not impossible as a weekly average, but I don't think we can say anything definitive about it just yet.
