I am impressed AC is pulling these numbers despite the lower hardware sales.

There must still be a significant amount of people that want to purchase the game but can't right now because of stock issues.

How's the stock situation in Japan? Shortages of the standard Switch and 500GB PS4s here in the UK.

Did New Horizons break the record of the most 100k+ weeks? I believe the holder was Pokemon Diamond/Pearl

Switch nearly 40k considering the shortages is better than i expected honestly.

PS4 back in the 6k range, eh unless we see a pricedrop i think it'll destiny to sell in this baseline for the rest of the life excluding holidays.

RFA is just 3K below FF7R physical... obviously RFA doesn't have big digital sales but that's still nuts.

Now it seems that the Lite is the suffering the most from the shortages. Not ideal with AC but well, it doesn't seem to stop it.

AC has to be one of the greatest success stories ever in Japan, unbelievable numbers still.

Wasn't Trials of Mana restocked on Switch? I'm guessing a lot of people may have opted to go for digital?

So barring stock issues, Ring Fit should reach a million by about the end of next month? That's crazy.
It already has hit 1mil. Nintendo store sold 150k which isn't tracked by famitsu

That's what I'm saying, AC selling this high this late with these hw sales is bonkers

I think that's a bit of a stretch, there's a very healthy JRPG audience on Switch as it's the last portable left standing.

It's where JRPGs have historically been crazy strong since the DS. It released first but Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest, Pokemon, Bravely Default, Ys, Trails, etc etc were all on either 3DS or Vita, leaving the Switch as the natural progression for fans of the genre on portables whether XB ended up there or not.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 being announced at the Switch reveal was crucial to attract the JRPG on the system early, I don't think it's a strech.

People don't buy consoles when there are no games for them.

Great sales for ACNH. Now that almost 4.5m LTD without digital. Fricking insane.

As Lelouch pointed out, it's pretty amazing to see how well the game is still selling when hardware sales drop. A lot of people who already own a Switch are interested in the game yet haven't had a chance to buy it yet. Very impressive considering the game is out for almost two months now and at these quantities.

With six weeks left in the quarter, I think it's very realistic to say ACNH will have sold over 5 million physical units in Japan by the end of June.

Moreover the January Switch presentation had 3 JRPG reveals with XC2, SMTV and Octopath. With DQXI being confirmed for the system even before and FE a few days after, there was no doubt that the Switch would become a strong JRPG machine.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 being announced at the Switch reveal was crucial to attract the JRPG on the system early, I don't think it's a strech.

People don't buy consoles when there are no games for them.
You said
The very fact that there is a very healthy JRPG audience on Switch is because of Xenoblade 2 established it.

As in, you were giving all the credit to a singular game, XB2. Several big rpgs were announced early, including Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem, Octopath and SMT, so I didn't think giving all the credit to XB2 for 'a very healthy JRPG audience' was fair. Now that you've said 'games', as in plural, I partially agree- it was obvious as a portable successor and from various announcements that there would be a strong choice of rpgs. The difference is that I think there would have been that choice, audience and sales with or without Xenoblade, as portable fans knew that FE, DQ, SMT etc were coming. It sure helped having a big first party game that November though.

Hurts to see these low Switch numbers - ACNL doesn't seem to care about them though lol.

I still mantain that XC2, being the only concrete big JRPG coming early in the Switch lifecycle (the next would be Octopath 8 months later), and being present at the Switch reveal, every big 2017 Direct and getting its own Direct was crucial for the JRPG audience on the system.

Also, as usual, where the fuck is SMTV ATLUS?

There will be bigger Switch shipments during Xenoblade launch but Xenoblade could still outsell Animal Crossing that week.

They're probably gathering stock for next week, I don't think it's surprising to see low HW this week

Moreover the January Switch presentation had 3 JRPG reveals with XC2, SMTV and Octopath. With DQXI being confirmed for the system even before and FE a few days after, there was no doubt that the Switch would become a strong JRPG machine.
And Disgaea 5 Complete which was the first one released and did VERY well in the west. I think D5C deserves a lot of credit for creating the JRPG audience on Switch well before any of those released honestly.

AC's closing in on 5.5M with digital if it's not there already. 6M is totally happening by the end of June.
