Nah. I get my YGO info from ygorganization, which is a Yu-Gi-Oh specific website. I did a quick read on some news about the demo back then and remembered wrong when it would be released(Though it was June, but it's July). Should fact-check what I say before commenting.Maybe you were mistaken by Shadowverse demo being available recently in occident

It is doing very well, but it'll need more than the Collector's Edition to explode in sales. The standard Edition performance will be very important closer to launch, in order to know whether the franchise is expanding to newcommers.Lol I'm thinking there is a possibility SMTV may hit 500K if everything lines up. Then again all it needs to do is sell 300K to beat previous SMT title sales.

Just a small aside: TheGameCollection did have Ys IX for preorder - my preorder is still standing from last July at a bargainous £36. I'm hoping they honour it if they've stopped taking orders for it. I got Disgaea 6 from them 4 days before release as well for about £40, although that was with one of their 10% off weekend vouchers.Probably relevant to that is that Disgaea 6 is £50 on Amazon.co.uk and was £55 pre-launch, Ys IX Switch is also listed as £55(PS4 currently £50), Shopto and Game don't seem to be stocking either. The Game Collection stocked Disgaea 6 for £45 but doesn't appear to have Ys IX.
I was quite shocked.

Seriously, I've got about 14 preorders from TheGameCollection. They cater to the niche Switch games better than most and are relatively cheap.
Hmm. I hope they come through for it. I wouldn't like to try and source another copy from elsewhere if they dont.I just signed up to them last week for Disgaea. It definitely looks like they don't have a listing for Ys 9 Switch any more.
Good breakdown.Since MH Stories 2 is out next week, this old post of mine is a little more topical now. I'm going to copy/paste it below.
On the subject of Capcom, I think it would be interesting to talk about the sales of Monster Hunter Stories 2. Capcom has historically had some success with the kids' market (largely with Mega Man Battle Network, back in the day), which we know they attempted to replicate with the first Monster Hunter Stories.
However, that didn't quite pan out. The game sold just 316,470 units at retail in Japan.
We know three things about Monster Hunter Stories, by virtue of its sales numbers and some educated guesses:
1. It didn't attract a large number of MH fans
2. It looked like a game aimed at children, but didn't attract a large number of children
3. It was a JRPG but also didn't attract a large number of JRPG fans
We know Capcom is attempting to address these issues with Stories 2 in various ways. One of the biggest changes is that the game's new character designs look older and a lot more like they would appeal to the typical JRPG audience. So here's a look at how the last few major JRPGs of note have sold on Switch in Japan:
I'd imagine that Capcom is looking at a lot of the same games to help forecast sales of MH Stories in Japan. Given the above figures, the strength of MH as a brand, and the Switch's ability to sell software, I think 450-500k in lifetime sales would be a reasonable estimate.
(I also think Capcom will want to push digital sales the way they have been, because that's one of their broader goals, even in Japan. So I could see digital accounting for 20-30% of sales.)
As an aside, I 100% feel this game is happening because Capcom sees overseas potential after MH World and the resurgence of the JRPG genre. I could see lifetime sales for MH Stories 2 roughly breaking down this way:
- 450,000 from Japan
- 600,000 from USA (400k on Switch; 200k on PC)
- 200,000 from Europe (100k on Switch; 100k on PC)
- 100,000 from Asia (40k on Switch; 60k on PC)
450-500k in Japan would mean MH Stories 2 ends up selling around 13-14% of MH Rise's sales (taking 3.5 million as a "safe" estimate for that game), which I feel is fairly reasonable. Part of the goal is to get more MH fans on board, after all. (For context, MH Stories sold around 8% of MH4's retail sales in Japan.)
Good breakdown.
So to be clear, you expect 450k in Japan retail + digital so around 300k-350k at retail ?
I expect bigger sales out of Japan tbh. Especially in Europe/Asia.
Not even mentioning the elefant in the room that are digital sales, for a lot of these titles they need updated retail numbers
Xenoblade DE is 320k shipped (148k retail )
Octopath is at 250k retail
Xenoblade 2 266k retail
Fire Emblem 3H at 380k retail (shipment surpassed 500k sometimes ago)
DQXI had its budget release and is still charting occasionally, was at >100k last week on Famitsu (on top of full price SKU which is near 600k)
Unless specified otherwise all these data are from MC CY 2020
Just looking at the COMG new sales for the past week; supply constraints for Samurai Warriors PS5?
Agree entirely. Just in case it's of interest to anyone, here's an interview saying exactly that and some other points about wider appeal:However, that didn't quite pan out. The game sold just 316,470 units at retail in Japan.

We know Capcom is attempting to address these issues with Stories 2 in various ways. One of the biggest changes is that the game's new character designs look older and a lot more like they would appeal to the typical JRPG audience.
Tsujimoto: When we decided to make a sequel, we wanted to go back and look at the feedback we received from Stories 1, which came out five years ago. And so one of our goals actually was the same as when we created Stories 1, which was that we wanted to take the Monster Hunter franchise and make a game that appeals to a wide audience. And for Stories 1, with the art direction we went in, we received some feedback that the characters looked maybe younger--they looked maybe like [the game was made] for children. So when we began development on Stories 2, we wanted to course correct there and make it appeal to a wider audience.
With that in mind, we said, "Well, what can we do in order to appeal to more people?" So one of the first things we did was we built out the environments with deeper lighting and visuals, and also the characters themselves are more grown-up. We believe that we have addressed the issue of the game feeling like you can't play it if you're an adult. We believe that it will appeal to a lot of players, both young and old, and we hope everybody will enjoy it.
Do you have any final message for fans?
Kawano: We received feedback from the fans that they wanted a sequel, and we know it was a long time for Stories 2 to finally come out. We put a lot of effort into the development and the graphics, and we worked really hard on this game, so we hope that players will feel the love that we put into it.
Oguro: We are hoping that players will feel the essence of Monster Hunter, the action game, in this RPG. We're really proud and think that we captured the essence of Monster Hunter and the action in it. Also, we worked really hard to make it easy for players to play, just to jump into the world and have no experience with this sort of game and be able to pick it up and learn all the elements in the game naturally and progress through the game without any sort of issues. So we worked really hard to make it fun and easy to get into, and it's an RPG that we think players will enjoy.
Tsujimoto: Monster Hunter Stories 1 was released five years ago, but eight years before that was when we originally had the idea for a game that would be Monster Hunter but different. And so we have spent a lot of time thinking about this game and the elements. And what we really wanted to express when we developed this game, we wanted to make sure that we captured the Monster Hunter feel in an RPG. But we also wanted to make sure that we didn't just transmit the Monster Hunter feel, we wanted to build on that with the characters--fleshing out the characters, developing feelings with monsters, and just deepening the lore and the story of the Monster Hunter world. So we worked hard on the graphics and the visuals and really expressing the monsters, and we think that Monster Hunter fans, of course, will enjoy all those elements. But we also believe that players who aren't necessarily into action games or [Monster Hunter's] real-time battles, maybe they're more interested in story, especially if they like JRPGs--we think this can appeal to lots and lots of players, and we hope that everybody enjoys it.
Idk, remember when sie promoting that metal max reboot on its account when the game was still ps4 exclusive, and some people assumed that it must be because of sie cutting a deal with kadokawa? This gives the similar energy imoA bit late to the subject and also a bit off-topic for this thread. But I want to mention that NoA added quite a lot of Disgaea 6 stuffs on My Nintendo. You can get In -game item, digital manga, and three wallpapers. Heck, they even hold a sweepstakes for a metal art print and a plush.
If anything I'll say that it seems like NISA got a good deal on this. Most third party games doesn't even get this much stuffs on NA My Nintendo.

The game had a 40% - 60% sell-through across Japan on both systems, so I'd assume the chances of the PS4 version specifically being out of stock at Comgnet are rather low even if not zero.

My main point was in the last thread, if we only can count two games which can do potentially 200k before Re8 release then having a list of 200k sellers between got release make less sense in comparison Vs a 100k release
Anyways cyberpunk and cod performance I'll Discuss elsewhere with you
It's 60-80% on PS.
I'd personally like to see the breakdown from the western releases in Japan, if that is what you mean.Anyways cyberpunk and cod performance I'll Discuss elsewhere with you

Take that, competition!
This clearly shows how dominant Nintendo is, in terms of third party Japanese support
theycantkeepgettingawaywiththis.gifIf you limit it to just Nintendo IPs Bandai Namco's preference for Switch is obvious.
Spike Chunsoft too!
It is doing very well, but it'll need more than the Collector's Edition to explode in sales. The standard Edition performance will be very important closer to launch, in order to know whether the franchise is expanding to newcommers.
A demo like DQ11S closer to launch is something I believe could help push sales further if done well. I'm sure the demo for Monster Hunter Stories 2 is helping its performance so far. I know Atlus gave Persona 5 Strikers a demo in Japan so hopefully, they do the same for SMTV to sell newcomers to the game.
Still, the collector's edition doing well so far is a good indicator of the potential the game could have. Doesn't completely tell us a lot but it is still a good starting point.
I don't know if there's a reality where SMT5 does better than Monster Hunter Stories 2. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I don't see it. SMT4 is overall the best-selling (and most accessible) game in the series by far, and that only did somewhere in the vicinity of 260k at retail. It's hard to imagine a scenario where 5 effectively doubles that, no matter how good or cinematic or mainstream it is.
