Sandlot is the mainline EDF developer. They also made the very EDF-ish Zangenki no Reginliev on Wii for Nintendo.
Yuke's also does EDF spinoffs now (Iron Rain, World Brothers).

Tbf it would have been hard to do worse, the Xbox one did awfully in Japan even by Xbox standards.XSX already outpacing Xbox One. You gotta give credit when it's due.
Are they really?Yea I'm confident to say SMT V has a shot of potentially selling more than Monster Hunter Stories 2.
The only thing I could see maybe slightly hurting it's legs a bit is the Pokémon releases and even then I don't see that happening since they both target different audiences.
Japan or WW ? Switch only or Switch + PC for MHS2 ?Yea I'm confident to say SMT V has a shot of potentially selling more than Monster Hunter Stories 2.

I remember the DS days where that standard was 200,000. Or was it 300,000?Thankfully for Aquaplus, you need only 2.000 sales to escape niche on PlayStation
:P
I believe it was 500k lolI remember the DS days where that standard was 200,000. Or was it 300,000?

I think they readjust sometimes in the following weeks if they feel they under/overtracked launch.Speaking of the original Utawarerumono Zan, your recap made me look back at how it performed in the same time-frame according to Media Create and surprisingly enough it looks like its post-launch hold was much stronger for Famitsu, despite the latter reporting lower sales for its debut week.

Do we know the sales target for The Great Ace Attorney?
I can't find it in the Capcom leaks
Oh sure, but considering how much the discussion takes up in these threads its good to see people stating the obvious from time to time.I think it's been quite clear, at least to most concerned, that 99% (probably 100%) of the posts on the subject are all in good fun.
Pokémon was a JRPG for adult way before Dragon Quest XII
SMT IV opened at 188k, but do we have an estimate for the digital share in Japan for MHS2? Assuming SMTV reviews well, they should be in the same ballpark for Switch-only Japan sales.Yea I'm confident to say SMT V has a shot of potentially selling more than Monster Hunter Stories 2.

300k LTD, about 200k at full price (or at least in its first quarter)I remember reading them at some point, they were pretty low (maybe 200-300k worldwide ?), development budget was pretty low as well.
Hey, even before FF.
In 2022, we'll lower the barrier to 200 copies :PThis year should be the new low for the PS ecosystem. I am expecting growth in 2022 given the significant difference in release slates.
Next year Xbox will start selling more than PlayStation and in 5 years from now, someone will ask a kid which console do they want to get and he will reply "what's a PlayStation"
Team 2020 have Guarana on their side, and I am certain you know what that means.

What do you mean by knock off effect ? Meaning part of the 2022 software is going to be delayed ?The question for next year is whether the "quiet" period we've had this year in terms of software sales is going to have a knock on effect on future software, something I think we have seen with Nintendo platforms in the past.

Yes I think it will be the case for PS4 software while PS5 will still have the novelty/audience that won't move out in a year. No, that sales will be depressed for future releases because software sales have been so soft this year.

The sad thing about this is that scalpers ar3 still preventing a valuable part of Sony's audience to move to PS5. Which lowers overall software sales, which extends the cross-gen period / reduce the number of PS5 SKU...I get what you mean, but with how bad software sales currently are on PS5, before worrying about still having the novelty / audience moving out, SIE should worry about having an audience first :P
Yeah sure that will happen. The low software sales are a direct result of disinterest in the games and also the platform in general. If the hardware sales are good you will have a constant active user base eager to buy new games. That leads to more software sales which again raises hardware sales and so forth. I do believe that only one big hit can kickstart it but after that you need a few more hits along the way to sustain it. I don't see anything positive for Playstation in Japan at the moment. The question for next year is whether the "quiet" period we've had this year in terms of software sales is going to have a knock on effect on future software, something I think we have seen with Nintendo platforms in the past.
Between Elden Ring, the FF games, the DQ games and more, it would very surprising if 2022 isn't a notable increase over 2021 which got so far, not a single game selling over 300k.The new reality in Japan is that for the first time since Sony entered video games market PlayStation is not anymore the primary console for most multiplatform games and as was said since first years of Switch every exclusive Sony loses to Nintendo shrinks PlayStation market share even more.
I'm not very positive 2022 will see notable improvement at PlayStation software sales with PS4 declining further and FFXVI looking to be the only big release. Sony is the publisher that will have sizable increase at output but Japan doesn't care a lot for many of these releases.
2021 isn't over.Between Elden Ring, the FF games, the DQ games and more, it would very surprising if 2022 isn't a notable increase over 2021 which got so far, not a single game selling over 300k.
I mean, if those games sell even lower than the one releasing this year, then the situation is even worst than what Chris is saying.Between Elden Ring, the FF games, the DQ games and more, it would very surprising if 2022 isn't a notable increase over 2021 which got so far, not a single game selling over 300k.
It's either Demon Slayer or Tales of Arise. Coming soonWhat's the big PlayStation game this year? Did it already release or am I just forgetting
Demon Slayer and Tales of Arise are the two biggest names remaining for PS this year. What's the big PlayStation game this year? Did it already release or am I just forgetting
The issue is that Sony only cares about big Japanese games like FF as NISA told us. The same is true in the west to a lesser extent, which is why indies seem to be gravitating more to MS and Nintendo.Jim only seems concerned with maintaining the appearance of trying to stop the bleed in Japan and shoring up the old guard with deals and possible dev support.
I spy a retail XBS release? Given it's the 1st MS 1st party exclusive for XBS and seemingly increased interest in the console, do folks think they may send some more retail copies this time compared to say Scarlet Nexus?[XBS] Microsoft Flight Simulator <SLG> (Microsoft Game Studios) (¥6.773)
I don't think anything from this year has outsold Village yet outside of MH Rise, but that will change soon. It's either Demon Slayer or Tales of Arise. Coming soon
Released games, I think it's VIllage.
