True but the overall performance should be easier to track day one. No need to wait for Nintendo's FY report in January/February.
I don't know about that, a bunch of Switch titles you can't buy with vouchers have had big digital sales in 2020. Around half of Crystal Chronicles' sales on Switch come from the eShop, more than half for Clubhouse Games and PawaPuro went high too.
It's still published by Nintendo in the West, right? So it should pop up in the financial release, right?
We'll get Western shipments updates.

Cheaper and MP focused games are usually getting a bigger digital share yes but Zelda doesn't fit either categories.

I don't think Age of Calamity is the original title intended to be the November release, it is not of the 10m+ magnitude that Nintendo wants from a November game but Corona happened and it seems there is a Switch upgrade in the way too which they will support with very big software without a doubt, but AoC will benefit greatly from the release slot + linking it with BotW story. it is going to be a big success story for Koei Tecmo.

I know 1m is the next milestone after 500k but it is not easy to go from one to the other at all.

200k+ FW/ 500k+ LTD is still my guess

I think it's likely it would fall in the holiday lineup - do I think it would be the key release? Probably not..
I'm thinking something like this could have been the intended lineup Oct-Dec:

SMK Live
SM3DW+BF
Age of Calamity
'Delayed bigghish title'

True, it won't be strange if it was originally an October release, and Emily said before that Pikmin 3 was intended to be released in Spring/Summer but moved to October because of COVID-19. there is probably something big missing from Nintendo's schedule this year, whatever it is, it will probably be ready for the new Switch hardware.

Somewhere. I think.
Where is the Famitsu report?
...

Unless I'm mistaken, the latest report coincided with a Software milestone (ACNH reaching 5m, iirc?).

Edit: wait, it was 1m for RFA I was thinking about. And no, no HW milestone at the same time.

Edit 2: I think we all have to brace ourselves for the worst, and accept Switch has sold less than 5k this week. RIP :(

Three possible outcomes

1) early reports are now on JPT Thursday morning and not Wednesday morning
2) Switch sold less than 5k last week
3) they don't care to report about Switch crossing the 15 millions mark

:P
4) Sony moneyhatted them to stop giving Nintendo numbers!!!!

The new Hyrule Warriors will sell so much better than the first entry that it would even not be funny. Worldwide that could easily be a 6-7 million game. In Japan, 600-700k could be a nice guess.

Zelda (popular as ever) + Breath of the Wild story + Switch + Christmas + lack of notable releases in the same target demographics = instant success.

(RUMOR) NatsumeAtari is making a new Kiki KaiKai game for Switch

It’s been reported by the usual Japanese blogger Ryokutya that (going by Google Translate), NatsumeAtari are making a new Kiki KaiKai project for Switch. This is to be another of their Tengo …

Seemingly NatsumeAtari is making a new Kiki KaiKai game for Switch as part of their Tengo Project, according to Ryokutya (I wrote the above article).

Will it be a digital-only game?

Famitsu mentioned at previous weekly report that Switch reached 15m, even if it missed it by 5k. They weren't into reporting it again.

A round-up of a few recent brand new announcements / release dates that haven't been reported here

Shiren the Wanderer 5 Plus: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate (Spike Chunsoft, NSW) - December 3rd, 2020 - https://www.gematsu.com/2020/09/shi...es-december-2-in-the-west-december-3-in-japan
Maglam Lord (D3 Publishing / Felistella, PS4 / NSW) - "This Winter" - https://www.gematsu.com/2020/09/d3-...nnounce-action-rpg-maglam-lord-for-ps4-switch
Densha de GO!! Hashirou Yamanote Sen (Square Enix / Taito, PS4 / NSW) - December 3rd, 2020 on PS4 / Later on NSW - https://www.gematsu.com/2020/09/densha-de-go-hashirou-yamanote-sen-announced-for-ps4-switch

hiska-kun I was going to report about it but you anticipated me :P Yeah, Densha De Go is already 4th and 13th on Amazon.co.jp. That's a...way stronger start than what I was expecting, considering how badly the more recent console entries in the series did (Famitsu, chronological release order, via GameDataLibrary)

PS1 Densha de Go! 272.476 949.947 Taito 18/12/1997
SAT Densha de Go! EX 6.304 6.304 Takara 01/10/1998
WS Densha de Go! 12.215 12.215 Taito 04/03/1999
PS1 Densha de Go! 2 176.591 367.484 Taito 18/03/1999
N64 Densha de Go! 64 14.309 14.309 Taito 30/07/1999
PS1 Densha de Go! Professional Shiyou 41.228 98.210 Taito 09/12/1999
PS1 Densha de Go! Nagoya Railroad Chapter 30.326 53.045 Taito 27/01/2000
PS2 Densha de Go! 3 30.419 68.443 Taito 15/03/2001
PS2 Densha de Go! Shinkansen: Sanyou Shinkansen-hen 24.093 41.141 Taito 20/09/2001
PS2 Densha de Go! Summertime Chapter 10.425 10.425 Taito 25/07/2002
PS2 Densha de Go! Professional 2 20.812 42.340 Taito 27/02/2003
PS2 Densha de Go! Final 22.397 41.820 Taito 27/05/2004
PSP Mobile Train Simulator + Densha de Go! Tokyo Kyuukou-hen 3.651 18.553 Ongakukan 17/02/2005
PSP Densha de Go! Pocket: Yamanotesen-hen 1.785 1.785 Taito 29/09/2005
WII Densha de Go! Shinkansen EX: Sanyou Shinkansen-hen 4.515 8.725 Taito 01/03/2007
NDS Densha de Go! Special Version: Revived! Showa Yamanote Line 14.795 Square Enix 22/07/2010

Is it possible that the 10-year hiatus + the arcade game increased the demand for a console version of the game? A shame the Switch version will release later, though; I assume the delayed release is due to more development time required, considering how the PS4 version looks.

KiKi Kai Kai is essentially Pocky & Rocky from the SNES, correct?

Initial shipment for Super Mario 3D All-Stars could exceed half million.

Half a million is a pretty massive initial shipment, especially for a title not releasing during the holidays (assuming they aren't shipping all they ever will upfront, of course). Wonder how high it can go (1M+?).

dont overestimate it.
Globally, right? 3D Marios aren't that popular in Japan.
Japan. I feel with Switch's popularity, not much from Nintendo this holiday (HW isn't a tentpole game like BOTW itself, though still big), Odyssey being big, AND the limited factor just all add to it being ripe for huge success. IMO of course.

So unpopular that Odyssey is closing in on 2.5 million
Well Odyssey is the best selling 3D Mario title by a good bit. Still I agree calling them unpopular is a stretch.

TBH i kinda hate the musou games but watching that trailer got me hyped and considering buying the game. I think this is going to perform really well.
That's because the trailer barely showed any Musou gameplay and mostly showed cutscenes.

3D Mario is popular on the right console

Mario 64 : 1.65 million
Mario 64 DS : 1.2 million
Mario 3D Land : 2.1 million
Mario Odyssey : 2.5 million (and rising)

I didn't say it was unpopular, I said it's not popular in comparison to 2D Mario, as in it is liked and played by fewer people relative to 2D Mario games. 3D Mario games are very well liked games in Japan.
