Yes and yes. The Toronto Police Union, run by a disgraced cop, is particularly terrible.
NYPD are some of the biggest pigs on the planet. I hate them so fucking much. They deserve to get overthrown, but they are more militarized and violent than almost any force. They will start taking lives if they feel too threatened.

Almost all of these places are not on Lake street though. It's pretty easy for most of these places to board up and talk nice.

There is going to be a very strong push from Very Concerned People, including Well Meaning Liberals, to bring law and order back to the streets because this violence is "unacceptable" and "notthe right way to bring about change". Fuck them! Bring the state to heel and make it obey you if you can't outright replace it.

Edit: I thought the post was referring to the sheer number of police in the center due to the protest. No I don't think a literal precinct is within the building.
Killer Mike was urging people not to burn their house to get their enemy. He didn't condemn the protest but pleaded for people not to utterly destroy their city. He is a community leader here. I respect the fuck out of the man.

Thank you for this, I've been hearing it more and more from others doing the Simpsons equivalent of "Oh won't somebody think of the small business owners!" Completely ignoring that most businesses should have insurance, we're still in a pandemic and so they rightly should be getting financial aid, and as you just posted, some of the businesses are even encouraging the protest despite the looting and breaking.
It's like that meme with the guy getting thrown out the window:
"How can we stop these riots from happening?!"
