Those are crisps cause they are...crispy.
What's in the OP are chips because they are...chips of potato.

Simple as that !

No they are chips because they are chips of a potato

What's in the OP is fries because they are fried.

When you chip something off it doesn't become a nice long line... it's usually small and thing. Like a potato chip.

Strange. And you drink beer warm...somehow?

Lagers are chilled.
Ales are usually sold at cellar temperature (so, cool, but not chilled).

You know why you chill a beer? It hides most of the taste. A good beer served at cellar temperature, and allowed to come to room temperature while drinking should be BIG on flavour.

Yep, had these the past weekend, they are much better. Chunkier and tastier, closer to chips than fries. I approve.

I don't like them, as I don't like potato skin on my chips.

Won't be eating at KFC again, which is fine as I don't regularly eat there.

The only time I've liked them from KFC was last Christmas when they had a limited edition with some kind of spice on. Similar to those from Nandos that have been mentioned.

Only problem with them are the ones at the bottom have none of the flavour on. So you end up leaving them.

The ultimate beer accompaniment (I will also accept Steak flavour McCoys).

Dudes, I used to enjoy those KFC fries immensely. They weren't a million miles away from McD's fires. If they've replaced them with shit chips that's a step backwards IMO.

The one near me has had these chips for ages, guess they must have been a trial store or something. They're ok, taste a bit bland though

Okay. I'll never get the appeal, but that's okay.

Warm and even room temperature beer can be hard to drink for me. It hurts my stomach more, and can lead to me feeling sick from the temperature. I like beer really cold and prefer that taste.

Anyone remember the old soggy fries from KFC about 30 years ago?

Loved those.

When did they change from soggy to fat chips? Only started going in the mid nineties myself. When I was a sprog I was always put off by the fact the chicken had bones(I was stupid), so I never asked to go.

Then in the mid nineties we were visiting family and they wanted to go to KFC, so when we were there I searched for something boneless and found the incredible crispy strips, and at some point decided to try original recipe chicken

Yep! Got these last night, I had no idea they changed them. Much better than their absolutely awful 'french fries' bollocks.

How do you y'all in the uk differentiate between types of fries? Like what would you call steak fries and wedges? Just chips to both?

For me

-wedges are used for large wedge shaped chips with the skin still on
-french fries are used for the type of super thin chips like mcdonalds serve. interchangeably called fries or chips, but if someone says they're cooking fries this is the only thing expected
-everything else = chips - for other stuff we have the names (steak fries = steak cut chips on the packet if you buy them, or more generally if called are chunky/oven chips) but I rarely ever hear someone use them. only see them on menus in restaurants

KFC has never been great for chips. Though I can't imagine these are worse than those limp things they used to serve in the 90s.

Last time I thought about KFC was when they ran out of chicken or something. Was that recent? I haven't had a KFC or a Burger King or a McDonalds in a very very long time. There is a KFC not 3 mins walking distance up my road too. Right on/by a big roundabout if any Americans want to really get annoyed with UK words.

a few months ago when KFC cheaped out and got DHL to deliver their food.

That was it. Thank you. I assume they've got their act together since. Though delivery companies in the UK are not great anywhere if me waiting for shit all day and it not coming is any indication and I am sure it is. Still, hope you enjoyed your chips :D

I did. :) KFC used to use a specialist company that had zero problems but tried to cheap out and went with the lowest bidder. They ended up having to bring back the specialist company for some of their stores when DHL went so badly.

Fuck yes they were great, bring them back already!

And the BBQ bites while you're at it.
