He plays to the audience. He tones it down for these podcasts but is worse than ever in a lot of GB stuff like blightclub.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but sorry to say that every opinion that isn't "Dan rules, and has always been the source of at least 50% of Giant Bomb's creative energy" is wrong
Yep, exactly.
To me he has no more or less energy than Mike or Grubb, and GB is as good as it's been in the last decade.
Yup, have to jump in here and say that Dan is very very good at his role on podcasts. He knows exactly what he's doing, it's fantastic.
I'm amazed you still tune in I thought you had given up a while ago. It wasn't easy but I finally let GB go a few years ago.
I enjoyed Dan at GB the first go around and listened to panning the stream for awhile. Fallen off GB since Jeff and NXL left and haven't really seeked out Dan. In theory, Fire Escape should be right up my alley but Idk, don't really vibe with it. I basically don't know anything about the current GB but I'm glad ppl are still enjoying it.
Glad that folks are realizing that Fallout 4 is the best one

Honestly, Dan is somehow the least annoying part of Fire Escape sometimes. There are episodes where it seems like they're competing to be the most obnoxious, and Mary and Mike can often win haha. Their constant need to talk about drinking like theyre 15 years old, and refusal to do time stamps for a 3+ hour podcast, is a real turn off.

Yeah, from the few eps I heard, it's the most like friends just fucking around w/o much regard for the audience, which I'm sure some ppl would be way into. I like all 3 of them but I guess don't necessarily like them together.
Here to balance things out a bit. Fire Escape is probably in my top listens of the extended GB-stuff outside of Remap (which is more of its own thing).
I'm all here for 3 friends just shooting the shit for hours. That was my favorite part of old, in-person GB just a bunch of people hanging out with each other.
It's also honestly the only place I really enjoy listening to Dan anymore because on Fire Escape he leans way less into being the heel.

Did it get rid of encumbrance or the ability to pick up every random item? Until a Bethesda game does that, it's basically unplayable to me.

Went on a long walk and put on two episodes of Fire Escape. First episode they spend about 30 minutes talking about some new medical condition Dan is grappling with concerning his jaw and how he is typically approaching it in the most unhealthy way. Overall decent episode. Put on the next episode it starts with them talking at length about Dan struggling with a new personal problem (smelling bad after working out) yah.. yah
Sounds just like something buddies hanging out would talk about.

If you have dropped off of GB content and want to know if it is for you - the first ten minutes or so of the Superdan 64 finale sum them up perfectly.

Mitch has an existential crisis because he was helpful to Dan in the previous episode but got shit from the internet about it. Dan has a mini rant about Reddit posters.
