It's kind of unfair, the best playmaker in the league, the best passer in the league and a third liner about to hit 100 points for the season. All on the same team. Crazy!
Fucking heck yes.

Verily he is one of the greatest in the history of shooty-passy!
Hear hear!

Dear Red_ ,

I hope this post finds you in good spirits. The Maple Leafs game has just concluded against the Carolina Hurricanes of Raleigh, North Carolina. What a game! What a thrill! What a turnaround from Saturday's donnybrook against those rambunctious Boston Bruins from Massachusetts.

I had a pop, or a soda for our American friends, for my drink throughout this match. A bag of chips was an option as well, but I elected against it.

Did you know that Mitch Marner is from the Toronto region? The young rapscallion must take GO Transit regularly, being a fellow of a Toronto persuasion. And I cannot forget to mention the young William Nylander, doing things with a stick that I cannot ever do.

John Tavares, a seasoned veteran, but still quite young, is a joy to watch. Coincidentally, also a gentleman from the Toronto region. Auston Matthews, our Arizona resident, is quite an upstanding young man. Hopefully a gentleman that looks at both sides of the road, and plays hockey with a flag that remains undisturbed and without disrespect.

The game was quite a thrill. I watched it comfortably sitting down. I also vacated briefly to use the commode, but returned with haste. This was certainly a game to watch.

Until we read each other's posts again.

Best regards,
Quickolas Quage
This is godamn adorable.

I am still pretty salty about Saturday's game. It doesn't matter who the Leafs beat or how well they play when they get drummed by Boston. Fucking grinds my gears.

Really looking forward to the Tampa game though. Should be fast and fun without the drama and dirtiness that comes with Boston.

Dear Quick ,
you still ain't called or wrote, I hope you have a chance
I ain't mad, I just think it's fucked up you don't answer fans
If you didn't wanna talk to me outside the rink
You didn't have to, but you coulda signed an autograph for (Auston) Matthews
That's my #1 center man, he's only RFA
We waited in the blistering cold for you
For four hours and you just said, "No."
That's pretty shitty man, you're like his fuckin' idol

Dear Solo Junior,
I meant to write you sooner but I just been busy
You said Shea Weber's Captain now, how French is he?
Look, I'm really flattered you would force Pleks to retire
And here's an expensive offer for Matthews
I offered a lot of cash
I'm sorry I didn't see you at the show, I must have missed you
Don't think I did that shit intentionally just to diss you
But what's this shit you said about you like to tank your team too?
I say that shit just clownin' dog, come on, how fucked up is you?
You got some issues Junior, I think you need some counseling
To help your ass from trading black dudes when you get down some
And what's this shit about us meant to fail together?
That type of shit will make me not want us to meet each other
I really think you and Bergevin need each other
Or maybe you just need to cheer another team better
I hope you get to read this letter, I just hope it reaches you in time
Before you hurt yourself, I think that you'll be doin' just fine
If you relax a little, I'm glad I inspire you but man
Why are you so mad? Try to understand, that I do want you as a fan
I just don't want you to do some crazy shit
I seen this one shit on the news a couple weeks ago that made me sick
Some dude was drunk and signed a Swedish dude
And had his contract offer up, and he was holding out for some cash
And in the car crash they found a tape, but they didn't say who it was to
Come to think about, his name was, it was Dubas

Damn.

Correction from last night: Ovi da god on pace for a career high 68 goals in his 14th year in the league. What a freak of nature.

Just averages 50 goals per 82 games over a 1000+ game career.

Also read somewhere on HFBoards that supposedly since the 70's, only Lemeuix and Ovechkin have led the league in goals at age 30 or older. Lemeuix did it once at age 30, while Ovechkin has done it at age 30, age 32, and is currently leading the league in goals again at age 33.

Simply the GOAT.

I'm happy he's won a cup - his legacy won't have any asterisk next to it. He's a Cup champion and one of the greatest goal scorers ever.

Thought that Selänne or Jagr must have done the same but actually nope. Both got only close on doing it. Selänne scored third most goals during 2006-2007 season when he was 36 and Jagr second most during season 2005-2006 when he was 33-34.

I read it on the main board on HFBoards. It got brought down from the previous $83mm expectation. Due to lower ticket sales and viewership year over year.

They were pretty good for a short while, or at least had a really good start. I think it was last year? My memory could be wrong, but it had seemed like they'd turned a page and were doing well, and now are back in the dumps again. Corey Schneider can't be helping though.

It's weird seeing Chicago, Los Angeles, St. Louis and, to a lesser extent, New Jersey at the bottom of the standings.

These things are easier to say after winning a few Cups recently. Not that I don't want entertaining and competitive hockey. I just want to see a Cup, and see those years as a missed opportunity.
Whats the point of seeing a cup if the league isn't set up to be competitive. if you win a cup in today's NHL it has infinitely more meaning then before.

Look at the NBA. You can basically buy a 50% chance of winning it all.

You're not wrong and I don't disagree with you.

I hope this makes sense. I'm not saying that I think it's a better system for a league, especially one that isn't a major league in the USA in comparison to the NBA, NFL and MLB. I just wish the Leafs had taken more advantage of it and, in some ways, am nostalgic for it.

I said the same thing before Chicago's run. It's fucking boring when teams just buy their way in. Late 90s to the 2004 lockout is the absolute worst period of hockey.

Clearly the pinnacle of haw-key was the coronation of the 1993 Cup de la Stanley champions, your Montreal Canadiens!

Loss tonight evens up for the theft in Chicago the other night.

McKenzie projects Suzuki to be the 2nd line center for the Canadian junior team, that surprised me, I figured he would play wing. Brook on the second pairing too, nice to see the Habs have some meaningful prospects at the tournament.

I haven't been able to post for a few days, but this put a smile on my face.

Suzuki could probably do every position besides defense in Montreal

Interestingly, the second highest trending Google search in Canada right now is "when can Coyotes offer sheet matthews"

After his 4 point night Mikko Rantanen is at 52 points in 31 games

32 points shy of his total last year in 82 games
