Of course it's possible ... but that's not gonna tell you anything of worth. Whether or not they're gonna put it on sale is entirely unpredictably.

Yeah you're right of course. What i (poorly) meant was more like "has it ever been on sale since launch and if yes has it been on sale recently thus reducing the chance of a new sale".

Hard West for 13.40, is it worth it? I'm seeing the trailer and looks like fun. Anyone played it?

dude i've bought so many games on my switch that i would never play anywhere else.

it's the notion that a portable system is capable of games like this that makes me buy the games on a whine when i really have no desire to play them .

Huh, Darksiders is relatively cheap. Can someone sell me on this game? I've heard it's a Zelda clone but I dunno how true that is.

Well, people here are a bit iffy on it because it's a THQ Nordic title, but I love it. It's my first time playing and the game (played a few hours on PC before, but never finished) and it holds up really well. The combat and the controls are very tight and I personally love the atmosphere and story direction. War is super badass and his tale about proving his innocence/discovering what happened is pretty intriguing.

It's part character action game (think God of War), part Zelda. And yes, the Zelda comparisons are pretty apt. You have the Metroid like overworld with item/power gates, you have the dungeons and plenty of puzzles to solve. It's obviously not as elaborate and polished as Zelda, but it scratches the same itch.

If I'm being honest, I'm enjoying it more than quite a few of the Zelda titles (pre BotW anyway) for a few reasons: story, setting, combat and platforming.

Oh, the Switch version has a performance mode which makes the game run at 60 fps. Very smooth. It also has a high quality, 30 fps mode, but I don't feel it's worth the trade-off

Haven't even finished the game and I'm already itching for Darksiders 2 and 3 ports.

Cool, thanks for the feedback. I'll put it on my wishlist and wait for my backlog to clear out/for it to go on sale.

It's teenager-mature/dark Ocarina of Time/Twilight Princess (like, exactly that game structure ...to the point of having "door unlocked" jingles) with some very Western Quality of Life enhancements and hack-n-slashy combat. It's very good.

I love that game. It has a pretty good story, fun combat, memorable characters and a great overworld with some large dungeons to explore. I like it more than the Zelda games I've played. Definitely a game I would recommend, regardless of Zelda comparisons - it's a very fine game in its own right with plenty to offer.

Not to mention Joe Madureira's art is pretty kick-ass. Came to appreciate his drawings after Battle Chasers.

There's a game that came out today that I'm kinda surprised Nintendo let on the store? It has a dude running around with his dick out pissing on things to "fix" them.

Admittedly, he's made out of boxes.
H2x1_NSwitchDS_SafetyFirst_image1600w.jpg

It also looks kinda bad, but it's cheap at least?

Safety First? More like Hastily Dispersed, amirite?

*crickets*

I just noticed the stick guy's... *ahem*... "stick." That's almost hilariously blatant. Not sure I've ever seen a game comprised entirely of simple geometric shapes and stick people with an M rating either. And it released on April 1st, so there's that. Boy, it just keeps getting better.

What we have here is yet another indication that Nintendo's quality standards have plummeted since the Switch launch window when they were apparently much more selective of who and what was allowed on the eShop.

(Brb, gonna go buy a cheap dev kit and make a quick and dirty barebones 2D platformer in Unity crammed full of every single kind of Chuck Norris, yo mamma, and fart joke known to mankind and then promptly submit it to Nintendo. It should be available next week, so help a fellow Era member out and show your support so I can make a sequel with recycled assets and vague references to Star Wars prequel memes.)

Nabbed Black Bird and finally bought Assault Android Cactus +. Played AAC+ and holy cow is it as good as advertised. Fantastic game. Love how it encourages getting better by letting you survive longer, rather than punishing you with single strike deaths. And boy does the difficulty ramp up! Absolutely worth $20.

The Switch is the most convenient gaming system currently available. If you want to play a game RIGHT NOW, just yank it out of the Dock and go. If you've got the time, settle on the sofa for a long session. If you're in a rush, take it with you and play in quick bursts. The wait between desire and gaming is literally seconds.

I believe the game has a 90% rating on Steam...

Holy frick slow down and stop posting nothing but your own gameplay videos. You don't really do much else here which is honestly a bit annoying.

Come and chill a while, look forward to other things here like the Konami Arcade collection in 2 weeks (am I the only one excited for this?) and whatnot.

I'm looking forward to all the Konami Collections hitting, especially since Castlevania Bloodlines might be included, which I hope leads to Contra Hard Corps hitting the Contra Collection. Though with how much else is coming in April (Cuphead, Boxboy, maybe Labo VR, etc.), I might wait for a sale.

I do kinda feel like maybe Haunted Castle should've been added to the Castlevania one considering it's the only game in the Arcade Classics that's not a shoot-em-up, then have it be the Shmup Collection. Or maybe I just want a collection of Konami's lesser known shmups like Xexex.

That Bargain Hunter game should be a mobile game. I would buy it instantly. Now, a Switch version won the other hand...

Please keep Haunted Castle away from the limited available slots in the Castlevania Collection.

Hahahahahahahaha, oh god Black Bird is insane. What a strange little game. Still trying to work out the scoring and how enemy appearances work, but there's some seriously weird scoring incentives going on here, with even weirder environmental destruction, timed bonuses, kill bonuses, and a level-up system that depends on combos, bombs, and manipulating the environment to get random appearances that... might have something to do with sequences of kills?

It's fantastic for $10. Definitely a score-chasing game, but I can already tell I love it.

I'll be sure to be on the lookout for it in Nintendo's indie highlight videos. /s

Overall game quality goes beyond gameplay mechanics though. Even if it plays reasonably well, the premise is so absurdly immature and potentially offensive that Nintendo gains nothing positive from having it featured on the front page of the eShop. And I say this as a gullible idiot who will inevitably buy this stupid game when it drops to a dollar, so just ignore me. :P

I've noticed this, too. I'm all for gameplay footage, but when you use this thread primarily as an avenue of exposure for your YouTube uploads and nothing else, some folks might not take too kindly to it, all's I'm sayin'.

And I imagine he's more looking forward to the "Contra" Anniversary Collection, considering the username. ;)

It seems to be a reasonably challenging physics puzzler wrapped around a juvenile joke, there are worse things in the world. I mean, we've already survived Boogerman, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and Sigi: A Fart for Melusina, what makes this that much worse?

It had a lot of hype here when it came out. The maker is Onion Games, founded by the producer of No More Heroes and Little Kings Story.

Safety First is both hilarious as a premise and actually fun to play. Worth a buy for two bucks, especially if you have some spare gold points like I did.

Can Phoenix Wright be played in other languages? Was wanting to replay it in Spanish to practice
Nearly everything except spanish actually. The original european DS releases had spanish but it's not included at all in this collection. I remember reading something about said localizations having been funded by Nintendo back in the day or something, but I'm not sure about the details.

Thinking I might pick up The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa. I like hearing that it's a bit cryptic and you have to figure things out on your own.

I was kinda interested in Mechstermination Force because I love run 'n guns and Bleed proved that good ones don't have to look great, but hearing it's the Gunman Clive dev turned me off a little. I thought GC was very mediocre. I'll probably just replay Cuphead instead.
Anyone know how good that new Arcade Archives shmup is?
It's part of the Cresta series but seems more like a spinoff. HG101 has a short article on it here. It actually sounds interesting in the way it copied Salamander's gimmick but with the ability to change perspectives within levels. I'm probably going to pick it up.

So does Mech Force just a boss rush like Cuphead or levels too?

How does it compare with Bleed 2?

Darn you Switch! Darn you!

Can anyone recommend me a game to buy? Specifics:
  • Under 20$
  • Lasts a while (more than at least 6 hours preferably)
  • lots of replay value
  • No rogue-lites
And I already have Hallow Knight. Thanks.

My god there are so many things I want right now. Anyone want to talk about any of the following?

Gunbird 2
Graceful Explosion Machine
Overwhelm
Strikers 1945 2
Unexplored
or any other vertical shooter, haha

I have to admit I'm hungry for a vert shooter other than Ikaruga and I've never played a Psykio game except for the first Strikers, and that was a long time ago. At the same time, GEM looks awesome and is half off and Overwhelm looks pretty damn sweet. Ugh.

And then SteamWorld later this month. Holy cow.
