Well, if what I've heard is true...and that's a very big IF...
Your "happiness" would ultimately depend on two things.
1. Whether you're a fan of this particular Nintendo IP.
2. Whether you're a fan of this genre.
That's why I said I don't know how the internet will react. You can be a huge fan of the IP, but you may dislike the genre. Or it could be the opposite: you can be a BIG fan of this game's genre, but you were never a fan of the IP.
Again, that's assuming there's even a smidgen of truth to what I've heard.
I don't plan to elaborate much more on this, but I hope I answered your question.
That's perfectly fine, thank you for the response. I wonder if it's casual, like Wave Race, or more core focused with something Nintendo usually doesn't make anymore compared to Gamecube or earlier like FPS or horror. Of course taking the grain of salt altogether as well
Edit: I'm trying to think of genres that Nintendo hasn't really built up themselves. That would be a reason for possible backlash, because the current established Nintendo fanbase isn't known or used to these types of games, so they wouldn't appreciate it. But that's good because that could fill a genre hole and diversify Nintendo's portfolio.
RTS
FPS
Horror
Sports (besides the occasional Mario sport)
Point and Click Adventure Game
Beat Em Up
Hack and Slash
Simulation
Stealth
MOBA
Racing
Cinematic Action Adventure
Rhythm is somewhat established....... Retro... (Dear god please don't let it be this)
These are genres not really established these days by Nintendo's IPs, therefore may not be appreciated because the fanbase isn't there yet?
