Family plan sounds too good to be true. I can only imagine that they'll limit the number of Switches you can use it on. At the very least the primary account holder will need to log in on all of them.

Then as far as I'm concerned this online service is inferior to their previous ones.
I noticed that wording as well. Can't wait to find out what games are not going to work.I'm... concerned about that "most" regarding the cloud saves. I'm getting the distinct impression that Game Freak is going to be opting out of that, despite Pokémon being a series where cloud saves would be particularly valuable.
Average NES game previously was $5. The service starts with 20 and will get more, but let's start with 20.After paying for service for a few years they will cost more than if you had bought them individually.
It'd be one thing if it launched with the console like this, but we're over a year in and the same thing was said about every Nintendo device in the past decade.
Because nothing was announced prior when it came to saves, and now they have become the greediest when it comes to saves because they are the ONLY ones without a way to back them up for free on a current console.People knew this was comming, why are some acted as if it came out of knowhere with a backstab included?
On all previous consoles the online service was completely unrelated to the Virtual Console. Then as far as I'm concerned this online service is inferior to their previous ones.
So many jumps to conclusion but you knew they were coming. No, this isn't the new virtual console. Don't lie...Let me know where the SNES, N64, GBA games are at for $20 a year, because I don't see it.
Its 20$ a year, 4.5 family plan, a plan that you are already likely buying to play online. So Cloud Saves becomes a free perkBecause nothing was announced prior when it came to saves, and now they have become the greediest when it comes to saves because they are the ONLY ones without a way to back them up for free on a current console.
Nintendo absolutely deserves the heck that is being raised in this regard.
They would need to charge more for something like that. What if they keep adding games to it and it becomes a Netflix-esque service for VC games?
This is the dream, but we have no indication at all that this is in the works. What if they keep adding games to it and it becomes a Netflix-esque service for VC games?
$20 is still too much when you don't have a way to really push it. The weak online in Splatoon 2 I forgive because its free. When it goes paid? Why would I pay for a product that is inferior to most of what I can get on the PC? Having to use the app in 2018 is a disgrace, and if their singleplayer stuff wasn't some of the best in the industry I'd have dropped them as a company years ago.
It's certainly suspect that their first system incapable of copying saves stored on internal memory to an external device is also when they introduced paid cloud saves.
I can normally find some justification for Nintendo's stranger decisions, but I'm not seeing anything here that isn't just greed.
You'd think they'd have mentioned dedicated servers by now if that was the plan. I really wish it was, but I'm not optimistic. Splatoon 2 could really use it too, 8-way P2P in a competitive game is absurd.
What if they keep adding games to it and it becomes a Netflix-esque service for VC games?
Rwad the 2nd part"Assuming there are no other restrictions"
And there almost certainly will be.
I mean, Sony are giving us Bloodborne for free, couldn't Nintendo do a little better? NES games are a little old.
It will be, What have they shown you anyting to convince anyone otherwise?I hope it's not the speed Nintendo usually updates the Virtual Console.
I noticed that wording as well. Can't wait to find out what games are not going to work.
This just flat out isn't true. Splatoon 2 does it in LAN mode.
That took years off my life.I hope it's not the speed Nintendo usually updates the Virtual Console.
This is the dream, but we have no indication at all that this is in the works.
I put free in quotes for a reason. It's the perception, like always. And the mass market will accept it regardless, is my pointFree? What free games? Last I checked the NES games were part of the subscription. How much do you think an online enabled NES game is worth?
I did. Do you not understand there could be caveats there? Even on (x number of) different systems is still "even on different systems". "Primary account holder must log in on every switch" would in no way violate what they said but it would make it a hassle for everyone sharing.
On all previous consoles the online service was completely unrelated to the Virtual Console.
This is the first time they give you classic games for the online service in any way.
Not building the system with this capability in mind still doesn't make it a good decision. The PS3 had in-game voice chat but just not party chat, its not really a direct comparison.
It doesn't mean no VC. We have to wait and see what Nintendo's plans are.Does this mean no VC? If so, fuck.
If no? Cool. Let me buy my VC games.
I really don't get the fixation with VC. Why are people so eager to pay for the same games every 5 years? There are literally hundreds of ways to play that old stuff, and most of them are better than Nintendo's offerings.
Yeah. No way are they going to be allowing random people to group together for a family membership. There likely is going to be identifying information that will be used to link accounts together with one person being in charge to prevent people from taking advantage of this in ways not intended."Assuming there are no other restrictions"
And there almost certainly will be.
It is bizarre. At the moment, it seems all the delay afforded them was enhancing NES games? Why does Nintendo seem to forget they have other systems? 3D capable systems?!Why did they delay this info if we already knew this whole part since the beginning?
