How long before other Sony and other publishers start "devaluing" their games by launching them day and date on their own subscription services?
I didn't include Nintendo because...well they're Nintendo and who knows what they're doing when it comes to anything that needs an internet connection
I actually am really curious about Sony in regards to when or if they will pursue a subscription service any time soon. As amazing as Sony has run their business this generation, and as excellent as their 1st party performance has been, there is one area they are seriously behind MS on and that is services.
Interesting. So Game Pass can be a way to accelerate the digital transition for microsoft.https://www.resetera.com/posts/7176224/

For sure State of Decay 2 is at least similiar. The Xbox digital ecosystem is simply very strong and well implemented.
Will Gamepass model boost games that aren't a primarily a live service, like God of War?
CMIIW but the two best examples of Gamepass boost right now are Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2, both of which are live service games.
I think they are seeing an inverse right now because all of those viral hooks console makers have added over the years are paying off unexpectedly with game pass. You got GP subscribers unlocking achievements, showing friends, streaming all the latest games. Non-GPers are more likely to check it out, especially at a discounted price.
Well PS4 downloads coming to PS Now has already leaked via a bug and Kotaku, the only question is how long it will take for Sony published games to appear on the service.I actually am really curious about Sony in regards to when or if they will pursue a subscription service any time soon. And if the posters on neogaf from 2013 are right, it's really hard to believe that this will be the last generation of consoles :(
Ori 2 isn't announced for GamePass, it seems like MS doesn't think so.Will Gamepass model boost games that aren't a primarily a live service, like God of War?

If it's that easy to sell games why aren't we getting a new zombie game every month (or more frequently)?
So I guess Sony will follow suit all the way then?I think that was the internal goal at MS yes. I've gone into it a little bit deeper in the past in other threads but realistically if they can hit a certain tier of subscribers the risk to creating 1st party content pretty much goes away. If they could manage to hit over 5 million subscribers they would be in a scenario where the large portion of all of their 1st party development is paid for. Sales on top of subscription would be icing on the cake. It basically would make their business far more stable and less volatile, and not as much would ride in individual games performances.
Phil pretty much confirmed as much when he said the thing that surprised him the most with Game Pass was unit sales moving up. Implying internally MS expected some degrees of loss of sales units to GP subscribers. Instead we are seeing the inverse.
So, SoD2 is on gamepass but still sold shitload copies? Impressive
So, is it fair to expect June to be a big Switch month? Fortnite (especially after the "2 million downloads in 24 hours" announcement) and the gamestop promotion should move a lot of consoles.

Still seems like it might hurt single player focused games like TLOU2.
Yeah so what do you think will be the PS4 games available for download on PSNow? Older stuff? Services games like GTS?Honestly no I'm not expecting Sony to follow suit anytime soon. It just doesn't seem to follow the typical line of thinking that Sony pursues which is typically more traditional.
I think it's something that Sony are noticing and looking at but I doubt you'll see the next Gof of War or Horizon available in any type of subscription model from them.
Zombie fatigue will settle a day before Days Gone comes out
This is wrong. Thomas said this was simply because the deal for Ori 2 was made before Game Pass first-party launches were a thing. It simply isn't negotiated yet (and it's unclear if it will).Ori 2 isn't announced for GamePass, it seems like MS doesn't think so.

Microsoft Studio games do.Do MS published games appear instantly on release for game pass?
I feel like Forza Horizon 4 could be the first game in the franchise (Horizon and Motorsport) to finally top Gran Turismo to be the best selling racing IP or franchise in the industry. I guess we'll see.
If NPD has shared that monthly Vita chart, please someone quote me and let me know. Thank you.

Switch has a top selling SKU: The Nintendo Switch 32GB w/Neon Red/Blue JoyCon was the month's best-selling hardware SKU in both unit and dollar sales.

Sony largely doesn't make GaaS games like Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2. I don't think something like Days Gone is as good of a fit for a service like Game Pass as the two aforementioned games.
Shhhhh, don't break peoples immersion ;)
It means it's the best selling SKU so yes, it does mean something. There is no single Xbox or ps4 SKU that sold more. If a PS4 bundle was super popular it could be the best selling SKU but it seems sales are more evenly split for Xbox and PS4 amongst their myriad of skus
I really wish they'd stop posting this. It means basically nothing. Sony is selling the PS4 split between 6-7 SKUs and and same with XB1. With the Switch only having two, it really doesn't mean much.

Forza Horizon 3 is way ahead of Gran Turismo Sports. It's "not even close".I feel like Forza Horizon 4 could be the first game in the franchise (Horizon and Motorsport) to finally top Gran Turismo to be the best selling racing IP or franchise in the industry. I guess we'll see.
Yeah. Not one person I spoke with about Labo thought it would chart in summer. Expectations around it on this forum are very out of line with market.

A lot of posters keep making the argument that retailers won't order more cause stock is sitting on shelves, but I imagine shipping those boxes is expensive so you'd want to make fewer orders.
Umm, holy shit at SOD2. Guess those anecdotes about XGP leading to increased sales were legit. Very impressive.
GTAV will be on the NPD when Red Dead Redemption 2 comes out

But those 2 Wii U ports are outselling a bunch of games, not only LaboLabo is selling so steadily. Getting outsold by 2 Wii U ports and games that have been out for over a year.
